  • For Rosie xxx

  • I love this record the 80s the best time for music and always will be ,but i do like some 70s stuff.

  • @MrRuddles1 50's and 60's had some good stuff too...

  • @martinEATworld Yes there was good music then too its just that i was a teen between 83 and 88 and the songs then had alot of special meanings to me i like nat king cole, dusty and the Beetles etc .

  • I definitely did not know this song was that old.

  • I canny even mind it being on Donnie Darko either, I was there the first time around

  • @wutangalex No you weren`t. I got into them in 1988, and I am 40. I missed the "Bunnymen" album. You missed everything fella.

  • Amazing!!! Love this song, best version ever

  • Pete.

  • I bought this when it came out as a single. This aired on TOP on the Thursday, I bought it next day. F**king hell those were the days. And to top it all, i still have it, played twice only. What a great era, gone forever I suppose.

  • saw em in York just the other weak nd they were fucking immense

wish i'd been old enough to have seen em in the early days

  • Christ, if only there was one band, JUST ONE BAND, around today that were as good as the Bunnymen.

  • Love this song. Was a teenager when it came out. Heard it on a train coming home from NYC. Still love it 25 years later.

  • I'm here because I was there, Newcastle City Hall 1981, so good, such a hot time, check out associates, mighty wah, commotions, clash, cheap trick, eurythmics and the Goddess Siouxsie.

  • Something tells me that one day Echo and The Bunnymen will go on the list that contains the classic bands of all time. They were seriously underestimated at what, in hindsight, was the beginning of the celebrity crap that includes Spandau Ballet and Cheryl Cole.

  • @bobbylfc90

i know! i wanted to go

  • an attempted culturebeating over echo and bmen? truly pathetic.

  • zzzzzzzz

  • I'm here because of Nouvell Vague but also because I was a long coated Bunnymen fan in my teens......pretty boring nowadays though aren't they?

Saw them at Glastonbury again in 2003 and they hadn't changed a bit......utter crap!

  • i was here because of misfits!

  • Great band, overrated movie.

  • breaks my heart ,thats the look i had 20 thousand years ago,and now i look like a tired old fagged and shagged baldy fat git roadie for status quo (sob)

  • @siarung At least you're not deluded mate!

  • This is fucking epic.

  • No were near as good without the keys :O

  • You don't need to cite where you discovered good music from; just sit back and enjoy it after you've found it.

  • And these guys are coldplays favorites la la lal aalalallaaaala

  • killing moon maybe 1981 dont hang me high for a year mistake

  • I wasn´t brought here by Donnie Darko.I´ve been listenibg to this song for 25 years. One of the most beautiful pop songs ever!!

  • Anyone know the exact date this was?

  • listen the The quakes version of this song, thats way better! and iam not here because of donnie darko, iam here cause of THE QUAKES

  • Holy shit check the hair on Muriel Gray !!!

  • Looking for a definitive version. Never quite as good live, even on Ocean Rain tours.

  • Considering that this was a new song, at the time, to them and they were performing without any real warm up, this is a cracking rendition. To kqpm392 who said that there were better bands around with them, perhaps - but EatB could cut it live and in the studio, consistently.

  • Love the dead audience.

  • Heard this on the radio the other day :)

  • Here because our band is thinking of covering this. Such a good song. Never saw DD, but it sound like I should.

  • oh boy great song and had almost same hair as him at the time :-)

  • I listen to this and enjoy it but can't help feeling that the focus on and appreciation of the bunny men has been blown way out of proportion. I can think of far better acts that weren't as successful. it's only the few that count though I suppose.

  • Iain Mc another scouse hero you go lad!!!!XXXXXXXX

  • Muriel Gray!

  • muriel gray's hair is out of control

  • what an ignorant discussion. All that matters is the magic you get from the music. You people are dead if all you want to talk about is chord progressions. Does the song work? Yes. Is it special? Yes. End off.

  • My hands up

  • What's with all the Radiohead references from people?, yes my Iron Lung uses the chord prog of G Cm as does this song in the chorus as does the Pixies Caribou in the verse... these guys did it first... and?Do you think you're the first to work it out or something?

  • @213HBK Lol so many songs have the same chord progression, it's not a big deal :D

  • just been told our band sound like these. got a couple of tracks up on our page, more to come in March. hope you like them x

  • This reminds of the far awayland in La-La land, ANGST! great!

  • Hands up if you weren't brought here by Donnie Darko

  • @shocktk Sorry, Donnie brought me here. :-)

  • @shocktk I most definitely was not, however Donnie Darko is one of my favorite films, and I think Richard Kelly's incorporation of music such as The Killing Moon, Mad World and Head Over Hells helps the tone of the movie greatly. Furthermore, Tears For Fears and Echo And The Bunnymen have been favorites of mine for years. I'm glad that as a child of the nineties that I had parents considerate enough to expose me to good music such as this.

  • @horrorshowradio "Incorporation" is not Bunny.

  • @horrorshowradio Are you a media student?

  • @transonicbuoy1 Yes I am. I'm a junior in the Media Studies program at Radford University. Why do you ask?

  • @shocktk i don't see why you are bothered that people heard this song on Donnie Darko? I did and i'm glad i did!

  • @20deckyy late 70's/ to mid 80's punk goth people do, they are very protective of their generation.

after all the other options were Disco or Heavy Metal (the kind where men dressed like women.)

  • @shocktk Donnie Darko brought me here. Problem?

  • @DOCSFC No, just dissapointing you hadn't heard this huge song before.

  • @DOCSFC Just don't walk into a pet shop and tell the clerk behind the counter that Donnie Darko led you to the rabbits.

  • @shocktk donnie who?

  • @shocktk THX!!!!

  • @shocktk hands up if your old!!!

  • @hahahahaha23 if you're old....which should prove I am!

  • @shocktk I met Ian McCulloch in Liverpool back in the day when Eric's was the top spot

  • my mind used to trip to a place far far away listening to this...

  • Pete de Freitas... I miss you.

  • @incompletex He was their secret weapon - listen to the Albert Hall Live CD, he is the man.

  • RIP Pete de Freitas

  • i remember the tube when i was a kid but was too young really to remember it ...echo and the bunnymen were fanatastic ...not sure of the drummers name but RIP ...

  • genius

  • Oh wow, never saw this before! Thanks for sharing.

  • Oh my.. the cello (?) adds so much to this song... love the dark aura. Good tune.

  • @WuHa105 cello adds nothing its the rickenbacker that makes this vid.

  • @lola9343 It's a Vox Phantom Teardrop not a Rick.

  • The Tube...a Friday night right of passage. The best music show in the world period!!

  • Class

  • Radiohead are boring pretentious rubbish.

  • @rorydragula I pity you

  • its a shame that this fantastic band has not become more popular

  • That fuckin Rickenbacker is awesome.

  • @lola9343 same model axe struck first chord of Beatles' "Help"

  • Pete De Fretais RIP

  • can never understand whey C4 dont just do the whole Tube rerun from start to finish - what an archive of genius. unless, of course, some schmuck's erased the tapes. in that case, you tube uploaders are the gods. thanks for this.... eternally beautiful

  • who was the pepresenter please answer me ?

  • @stevent60 muriel gray.

  • @boothy75 thanks

  • yes thats probably cos it was in the soundtrack to donnie darko!!

  • reminds me of Donnie Darko :-)

  • wow what a song - straight on to iTunes to buy it methinks

  • Radiohead are fucking shite

  • @martianware Amen to that. EATB are beyond great, r'head cannot hold a candle to them.

  • Fuck me.!!..we didnt know how good we had it. In a 12 month period ( give or take) I Saw Echo & t b ,the Smiths, the Pogues and The Cocteau Twins at various stages in their careers.

Without trying too hard either.....Ach ..Im sure the youth of today will be saying the same about .....................Aiden Moffat , The Fall and Archie Bronson Outfit

  • one of the ultimate songs of the times, changed my music perception for ever

  • classic

  • I remember seeing this on the tele!

  • faggots saying "it sounds like radiohead" need to choke on a cock, nobody cares what modern band a band from the 70s-80s sounds like

  • Getting Radiohead vibes here.

  • Saw them last night in Belfast as well! Great concert! Last time was in the Queens University Students Union, Belfast back in 1982!!? Macs voice is unique and haunting! Keep on rockin in your 50s! cd

  • Saw them tonight in Belfast and - have to say - they were still brilliant

  • Heard echo got soused on monday in connecticut at F.T.C., and tried to smash a huge bloke in the mouth in the front row!!! Old punks never die!!!

  • How cool is Will Sergeant here? What a guitarist.

  • wow found this band on courtneys wiki page wow great band

  • great song... to much bass level in the video. I wish youtube would include an EQ to adjust some videos. And for anyone who lives in San Francisco, Echo is playing at the Fillmore on April 19th.

  • love this band, great Easter music.

  • these are fucking super beings. MASTER PIECE

  • The Killers are influenced by this band, look at the last few lines of the song human its the same lines in dancing horses by the bunnymen

  • such a good lyricist!

  • cant wait to see them in glasgow in december !!!!

  • Must of heard this hundreds of thousands of times...And it gets better everytime.

  • first chords sound like "Eisbar" lol

  • @mrbassman25 fade out is street spirit? although i do kinda see what you mean ..

  • @brentforddr you're right enough dude soz...

what is it im thinking of.... NO SUPRISES!

wheeeyyyy.... i got it in the end.. lol

  • @mrbassman25 I heard a bit of Climbing up The Walls at the very start.

  • Comment removed

  • fade out is the same song as street spirit.

  • yes your about ten messages too late dude :P

i was meaning no suprises and fade out...

  • @mrbassman25 Yeah, they were. But Yorke was also influenced by a guy he sounds nothing like. (Actually, I pick up little bits of the connection, but...) The guy's name is Mark Mulcahy. He was a friend of mine years ago, if you can believe it. He's got solo stuff on iTunes but he's best known for his first band, Miracle Legion who were big in Britain. For a great example of his work, download Polaris' "The Adventures of Pete & Pete" album from iTunes. Again, nothing alike in style, but still...

  • @mrbassman25 Not to burst your bubble but fade out and street spirit are the same song..

  • @fohawk31

ffs dude,,,,,, read a few messages back, not to burst you're bubble, but this has already been adressed, simple mistake, aslong as your happy ;)

  • @mrbassman25 For sure. You can also hear vocals of Win Butler, Stephen Malkmus, and probably a ton of others I can't think of at the moment. Mostly Win Butler

  • @mrbassman25 quite possibly, radiohead were only influenced by the very best, which is why, in my opinion, there are one of the best band around, ever. The studio recordings for VH1 are bind bending!

  • @mrbassman25 fade out and street spirit are the same song.

  • @mrbassman25 Fade out and Street Spirit are the same song.

If you don't know don't say.

  • @mrbassman25 I think you shouldn't mention them on this video. How can they even compare ?????????????????????

They are better mentioned on a Coldplay video perhaps.

  • @oklapi

You are kidding though aren't you?

Radiohead are THE best thing out atm and have been for quite a while.

clearly you've got no idea what your talking about.

  • @BaronessStrange There is more to music than Radiohead, widen your musical taste and stop being so clingy to one band.

  • @curvedglass

lol i'm not at all clingy to ONE single band. interesting how you generalise my taste in music just by me defending radiohead's place in the contemporary music scene.

  • @mrbassman25 fade out and street spirit are the same song :)

  • @mrbassman25 fade out and street spirit are the same song...

  • @joydivided23

Street Spirit (fade out) for real.

  • @mrbassman25 good ear but i believe fade out and street spirit are the same song.

  • @earthskysea

Cellos on "The Unforgettable Fire" album!? Strings (done with a Fairlight sampler) only appear on the title track, and the arrangement doesn't particularly resemble those of Echo.

  • you mean when he wakes up in the middle of the goldcourse? yeah thats great "wake-up"-tune i think

and anyways this is great song!

  • <3 ..

this song fits so perfect into the intro of Donnie Darko :D

  • "Mac the Mouth" what a voice!

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks.

  • What kind of guitar is that?

  • Vox 12 string

  • such a wonderful piece of art

  • Cool song.

  • apparently we sound a bit like bunnymen. you can us on our youtube page. would be interesting to know what people think. cheers

  • Huh?

  • going to see them on the 8th feb :)

  • Pete RESPECT & NEVER FORGET YOU

  • pete will always be missed. love this track from one of the best bunnymen albums

  • Que song!! :)

  • reminds me of a sixties song. so dark and errie. i love it.

  • The 12-string Rickenbacker does that.

  • "The Fountain" is a great song despite what ever media shitbag says.

  • i agree mate
