Ive bought my old Messiah 3 months ago, 87 vintage, and as I also have Martins, Gibsons, Cole Clarks (sold them after replacing the electrics 5 times!) a Tanglewood and a Taylor, this is without doubt the best guitar I have owned yet.You can play the softest tune or smash the shit out of it and it sounds great.
It came with a passive pick up in it and you get real acoustic sound through a PA.
My Martin's plugged in are shit,so I'm installing a passive K & K pick up
@richrance Oh mate, I will pass on some hard earned advice, In reality, you are better off buying a Maton, The ap5 is a better pick-up, the 5/6 point is clever and is nice on the ears, they are badly wired and scream unreliable, the craftmanship on a Cole-Clark is similar but with a Maton comes a lifetime warranty against humidity, temperature etc. Matons are tough, where your Cole-Clarks are to be honest weak, overpriced, and not all that versatile, If your not into Indie/Alternative go a Maton
@TheDudeFrom0Z You must check out different string gauges and materials and see which fits your guitars best. Remember- the best string is the one that your guitar likes. And I recommend you getting your guitar to a luthier to install it, if you choose a preamp system. Best wishes!
why not hit or jump on it, i did with mine and it didn't brake, you should give it a go test out its durability and then upload a video of how much its durable too rough use...
Hi Justin, liked the video, but, in My humble opinion, I don't agree with what you said sometimes at the beginning, that Jumbos are best fro strumming, of course, you can play anything on anything, but I personally prefer jumbos and superjumbos for fingerstyle like playing, it just seems to me like most jumbos are "tuned in" for the mellower bassier sound of playing with fingers. My opinion though ;)
yeah theyre are definetly one of the greatest guitar makers around .....ive got a maton m225 and i love it ..by far the best guitar ive ever had in my opinion ...i highly recomend them !
Nightt1551, they have various other models for messiahs, this one is an EM100, one with a cutaway is an EM100C and if u want a standard one with no pickup or cutaway then thats just an M100. Though messiahs dont come with apmics, this one must have been a custom order.
I'm a Martin lover as well, but this Maton sounds darn good, they're Australia's Martins. Get that neck reset, you'll love yourself for it, even if you have to pay for it it is worth it. It'll play & sound a lot better. Trust me, my Uncle got his D-28's neck reset and it sounds like a choir of angels now and plays like butter. There are dealers for Maton in the U.S.A., in Maine & New Hampshire, hopefully they get some dealers closer to New Jersey, I'd love to try one of these! :)
its not blackwood .. its rosewood .. I have maton EA 80C which is blackwood sides and back .
I prefer the sound of my EA80C rather then Messiah ..coz its got more of that piano buttom end and full sound.. messiah is more darkish mellow tone.. bit like takamin but much better
i'm looking for a decent acoustic for about £250-300 i want a guitar with nice crisp mid response that's not too bassy a bit like martins in tone but for way less money. what would you guys suggest
Definitely a Crafter with mahogany back! In my opinion the best "cheap" guitars. The D7 is very cheap, if you want to have a all-solid wood I thing you should go for the DV 200 which should be around 400 pounds if I don't mess with foreign monetary values...check them out!
hes not trying to say its the best, hes saying in his opinion on that make of guitar he thinks in his own personal opinion that its one of the best, now obviously everyone has different tastes so dont just jump out n say "mine blows that one out of the water" becauese in your opinion yours may seem better.

@apple736 Martin D28? You mean that dead sounding muddy piece of crap? Even my cheap lamminated China guitar has more definition than that over priced furniture.
Justin speaking of cleaning turners...I got a classical accoustic with plastic tuner buttons. The buttons are white. But they have developed black on the seems of the plastic. Any idea how to take that off.
Just checked and the cheapest MM starts from AUS$3300 :( Damn. Christmas just passed.

Sweet Axe, I am a Martin man, but like the way my Taylor 810 plays.
I also heard a Lakewood that sounded good.
Your Axe looks and sounds very well, I have a old martin that was old when I got it, need a neck reset .
I have many guitars this guitars will become more loose sounding and the lower end will increase as the years go by, and it will get louder..
I would love to play one, but they may not be in the USA.
