It is safe to a great extent. We transact about US$ 1 million on a daily basis. The shop keeper has to pre-fund their account. The amount of money which they have in the account is the extent to which they can mobilize deposits from the end consumer. Robbery can't be denied, though shop keepers move cash on a daily basis even for their regular business hence its not a added burden. If cash get over, the customer needs to visit the next nearest Eko shop. We dont get lot of service denials.
Is it really safe??? They give their money to some guy in a shop... then what, the guy have to transport all the money from the day to a safe place. He can be robbed on the way, can't he? And what about the situation when people need to withdraw more money than he currently have?
