hey which one of the PS3's has backwards compatibility? That's the one that I want to get. I might possibly get one for my birthday around Sept. 8th or I most likely will get one closer to Christmas.

You cannot buy them new through retail anymore, but the 60 gigabyte and 80gigabyte(the first release of the 80) have it. I say just get the slim man, there is always hope they will do the down loadable firmware backwards compatibility.

The only PS3 systems that are fully backwards compatible for PS1 and PS2 games are the 20GB, 60GB, and 80GB (the one with 4USB ports). All the 3 models I mentioned are no longer in production.

The 80GB (the one with 4 USB ports) however does not play almost any PS2 games but some because it's software emulated instead of hardware emotion engine used on the 20GB and 60GB.
