Isnt it the right of the people to overthrow their government if they feel it's been hijacked by tyranny ? or the people's right to change the government in anyway they want in America or in any democratic country ? Or do they just have to bend over and take their so-called punishment ?
in the beginning washington looks like he smoked a blunt or two...anyways, he must be turning in his grave right now with the way the U.S is operating...I don't remember reading about saying it's ok to be "Corporate America"
@TheVenturino123 And now this NDAA Act and the PATRIOT Act ? I see nothing patriotic about it . And Canada is going down the same hole . John Hansen. The Maryland delegate to the Continental Congress was elected president in 1781, just before the time of Lord Cornwallis's surrender at Yorktown, Virginia.

I thank you all for your comments. They prove you have a voice and are willing to be heard. It was an incredible honor to portray this man. Learn from history! Wisdom can be found in our footsteps.
Creepy... GW was far from this deteriorated at this point in the war. Perhaps in 1799... Not 1782 or 83... He was still pretty vibrant. No more gray or old than Jon Stewart has become in his late 40's...
It's been a long time since you've done this. You've probably grown quite a lot as an actor since, and if you're a fan of Washington, may have learned more about him since. Is there anything you'd change about this interpretation? I thought you'd carried off the body language of an older man very well, which is hard to do.
Well it is said that George Washington and all the other colonialists or Americans at that time and stretching well into the 1800's sounded more like British people when they spoke back then.
@jilonV Was / Is this part of a series / mini-series produced by Ron Maxwell, or just an out-take of the Newberg speech? I'd like to know, because if a series, I'd enjoy watching it, I am sure.
Is this the entire speech? I ahve read that this speech left Washington's officers (who had been encouraging him to do a military coup) in tears. Washington's words were said to also invoke the memory of men who had fought with them and died, and that to overturn Congress and replace it with a military government would be a dishonouring of the sacrifice those men had made. This actor does a fine job that convincingly invokes the low-key intensity I suspect Washington may have conveyed.
Many years ago I had the honor of working as an extra in the miniseries titled "George Washington: The Presidential Years." Some of the lines from this monologue came from that very miniseries.
This cannot possibly be the REAL George Washington, because they didn't have color film back then. Duh! I guess the film maker should have thought of that before producing this in color. Gotcha!
@white89euro they dint have any film back then. you could even take a photos cuz the first photo was done in 1826 and he died in 1799. so its there is not even a photo of hime no film no recording of his voice. all not possibile. that most people watchin this belife its rly him shows the stupidity of amaricans and the reason why this country fails. its full of idiots. and without all the imigrants wich are the smart people in the usa it would have failed a long time before.
