always wanted a .25-06 because its so well rounded! You have very good ballistics, flat trajectory, and mild recoil. If somehow the deal could be sweetened up a bit with slightly less expensive ammo I would be 100% sold!
25-06 works just fine for pigs. Lung shots, heart shots, shoulder shots, spine shots -- done them all with the 25-06 -- works great. Fast, humane kills. I don't take butt shots or gut shots. I always use the Nosler Partition for hunting.
@ghettobraden To tell you the truth I didn't know anything about the balistics of the 25-06 when I typed that comment. Since then I have been doing a lot of research on a whole heap of different cartridges. I have been looking pretty hard at a lee-enfeild #1 Mk 3 in 303-25 that I can get here pretty cheap for a bush bashing hog gun :-D We'll see.
