I don't say plastic gears suck but that I am more likely to spend 60 dollar/euro on one metal gear per year than spend 72 dollar per year on '12' 6 dollar plastic gears that keep on failing cuz they can't handle the power of my motor

so you say you prefer speed above durability, cuz with gears I highly recomend NOT to buy new plastic gears if the other plastic gears fail and also cuz metal costs more but is stronger and a'd rater have metal gears that costs 40 to 60 dollar/euro that fails one time per two years (in normal use) than spend 4 to 6 dollar/euro on plastic gears that almost fails, well every month (in normal use)

first off the cheapest way is to lower your pinion gear (lower number)

second off traxxas stuff sucks

third off voltage does not make your car go faster (voltage is determined by the number of cells in the battery)discharge rate is what makes the car go faster a good discharge rate is around 60c

@RcMasta90 you think that the Traxxas velenon system is the best... lol, the rustler vxl, where to start, first off the platform is awful i mean who tries to build a truck with a single piece chasis and huge/heavy wheels and tires, and it doesn't even come with a diff. it comes with a spur gear that is also a slipper and there diff, also adding weight, the shocks suck the shock bodies aren't even threaded. I could name plenty of more things that are wrong with this car but i choose not to.

my metel spur gear only is like .5 oz more nd there is no diffrence in speed. and as long as you lub your gears nothing will happen to the gears.. and its 30mph for the stampede and 35mph for the rustler

I dont recommend the traxxas velenion. It is about $145 and my esc that is the waterproof version broke while I was simply driving it on the street. I did a few speed runs and then just regular driving up and down the street. We went to the hobby store and then came back when the batteries were done charging. Then it stopped working. My friend bought a set of sand paddles and drove his car in the snow and it shorted out the esc that is also waterproof. He sent his in for free because it was

the reason the rustler goes faster, is because of it's COG. It sits much much lower than the stampede does, and the lower the car sits, the less air gets pushed underneath, which means it has to cut through less air to get to those speeds

its pretty much the higher of the stampede that limits it to the 30mph traxxas advertises
