  • Thanks. I love all your lessons and they help me but i would like to make a request for the song Babe by the band Styx. That would be great. Anyways thanks so much chap.

  • @Jmb71111 Babe's a good song, I'll consider that one. Very glad you liked the video, thanks. :-)

  • Thanks :)

  • If I can make a request, a really great song that is by Paul McCartney Is "Here Today" off of his album Tug of War. It is a tribute to John Lennon from Paul an would be truly a wonderful piece to play on piano. Please if possible make a video for this song. Thanks!

  • Thanks so much!

  • Amazing piano. Wish i could say the same about singing. Thumbs up though :]

  • @MushroomMagic17 The singing is just a guide, the piano is the main focus. Glad you lked it.

  • since 1976 i knew i was missing something when I played this by ear - i kept hearing the roll in the original song and i could not figure out how it was done until now (F F# G roll). thanks

  • @billboardnumber1 Glad it was helpful to you, The little roll in the left hand makes a big difference, I think, and Paul knew just where and when to use it.

  • Hi John, a while ago I asked if this would be a good song for a beginner. You said yes, and you said you wanted to know how it's going. :) Well, I think I finally got it (don't get to practice a ton with an infant in the house). Just wanted to say thank you for giving me the encouragement to tackle this song. It brings me a lot of joy. Thanks to you!!!

  • @Gerdisan Wonderful! So glad it's worked out for you. Keep up the great work!!

  • I'm a grade four - its confusing : (

  • Great job, thanks a lot ! How about the rest of the song (the solo)? Haven't you made an other video ?

  • @douvy I don't have one for the solo yet, but will add it at some point.

  • I think you're the "Billy Shears" heehee =B

  • Im beginning to think your the fifth beatle

  • @MrFlippyHair

Just transpose your keyboard -12 that's what I did and it doesn't sound as great but it works

  • My keyboard frame isn't big enough to play /:

  • I've tried it on 3 different computers an my friend tried it but it didn't work it might be our networks though. I will keep trying or use the cords that you taught in this and make the rest of the song out of it.

    -Thank you

  • omggggg thankkkkk youuuuuuu love the way u play! beaUTIFUL!

  • Hey this is great I learned the intro you taught and this. I have it memorized and perfect. I did try to get the sheet music for this from the first link in the description but it didn't work. Could you maybe email that or fix the problem please. It just says,"you do not have permission to view this please try again later." I tried again but it didn't work. Thank you for the amazing tutorial on Let It Be and other songs I am learning from your videos as well. thank you...

  • @Putzster32291 Not sure what the problem was there.. I just tried the first link and it worked for me. I did notice that Let It Be was not one of the transcriptions on the Molto Allegro website, though, so you won't find it there. Try it again and see if it's working now.

  • hmm where is the let it be sheets from molto allegro.com ?

  • hey does anyone know why can i see but cant listen to this video? the weird thing is that i can perfectly see and listen any other video but not the ones from this user. please help me because i really want to learn this song!

  • @stratokairo The sound on the older videos is in mono (sorry), so it's on the other audio channel. If you go to your computer's main audio control, make sure the "balance" tab is in the middle, or all the way to the other side, and you should hear the audio then.

  • Ur d man.. Im very happy that u've been doing all this to help others by just uploading this videos.. I think I'm one of your students now.. ( :)) :) )

Thank you very much for doing all this.. for uploading videos (tutorials) Thank you thank you.. :)

  • @cathyschindler09 Glad it helped you!

  • @pianojohn113 ___your welcome John.. :) it helped me alot.. thanks again.. hope you can ulpoad more videos.. tenkyu2..:) God bless you.. :)

  • I love you for putting up sheets, bro

  • when i find my self in times of truble mother mary comes to me speaking words of wisdom let it

  • I'm looking Chile speak Spanish and I have seen your videos but the problem is that I do not speak much Spanish and I would like if you or some of your followers could caption your videos into Spanish because I do not do that to you also appreciate your videos are great and I like but I think for me and Latinos who want to see your videos would help a lot but the subtitling. thanks

  • Nice singing voice! thanks for the lesson!

  • excellent tutorial ; ) thank you ! ; )

  • This song it taught very well! thank you :)

  • do you have the sheet music?

    nice tutorial

  • @Sebabarrossierz There is now a link to the sheet music in the "video details" section.

  • nice sound quality man

  • Beautiful. Thank you for the lesson.

  • Hi John

Do not be shameless, because all respect for your skills, but it is absolutely not correct that attitude that you exhibit in your lesson. That said, talking too much, jumping here and there without being clear and in the end.

Why this deception? Why not be correct?

Why can not you play, show more slowly and more distinct! It's about beginners who want to learn to play and have an interest in piano! Why mislead and deceive us? And why be so freight and say no !

  • @irenekiruna If you really don't Like the way he teaches it learn it from someone else ass wad.

  • @irenekiruna I started off knowing nothing about how to play piano. Then I found John's tutorials. I learned how to play Imagine and let it be just fine and now I'm the best piano player in my class. I can play sheet music also. Thats all by just learning 2 songs. Thats just how good John is.

  • @irenekiruna go poop in a bucket

  • @irenekiruna Okay, crazy lady, this is NOT for beginners, it's for people who want to know how to play. If you don't know what an Fmj7 means, then you shouldn't be here. Go learn simple chords, and maybe you'd appreciate the fact that he takes the time to put in the notes. Oh, and did you ever hear of a freakin' pause button. I use it, and I just repeatedly play the last chord. So, instead of complaining, LEARN HOW TO PLAY PIANO!

P.S. I am 14 years old, and I play it just fine.

  • @irenekiruna I have no idea where this is coming from. Not only is pianojohn113 the piano tutorial... -ist that I trust the most, he's the ONLY one I trust. His tutorials are easy to follow, easy to play and, most of all, accurate.

  • Hey my ame is Paul i'm mexican ...You are a master i never think that i can play a song in the piano, now i can play hey jude and almost let it be...thanks buddy !!!

  • oye amigooo buena canzionnn

  • @pianojohn113 Thank you so much! finally i will be able to play that song! lol thank you! your the greatest!

  • You embellish too much.

  • Please I beg you, please make a tutorial for watching the wheels by John Lennon! I always go to you for tutorials and I'm dying to learn that song! Please make one!

  • @pianojohn113 even tough these are pretty easy songs compared to the ones you play hahaha

  • @irvin564 lol, yeah, but they can be made as easy or as hard as you want.. depends on how much improvising you do, I guess.. :-)

  • none of your videos' sound works, and iv tried to see if it was just my computer, its not. Your tutorials are the only ones without sound.

  • @judomasta404 Go to your computer's main audio control panel, and make sure the "master" volume tab is in the center, and not to the left or the right. You should hear it then. These older videos were recorded in mono, which wasn't a problem until YouTube went stereo.. but the sound is there, it's just on the other audio channel.

  • Could you talk a little less and be more clear. You begin in a way and next time show in a different way. You start and mixes all the time that we can not follow you. Take a verse - and their piano playing - close

Take the next line and play and finish. Afterwards, take both line and plays and ends. Skip is not here and there.

Write down the first verse and the game to it. Second verse, and the game to it. See verse and chords are written so we will see when you play Easy and clear. Can you ?

  • @irenekiruna No.

  • @irenekiruna Speak For yourself Buddy i can follow it just fine

  • thank you very much man! now i know this and hey jude =)!

  • Can you do me a HUGE favor?!?!? Pleaseeee make a tutorial for Watching the Wheels b John Lennon!! Please! there is only one and it doesnt really teach it! you teach it the best! pleaseeeee do it!!!

  • I agree , Paul was more musically talented then Lennon IMHO. Paul could play guitar, bass, drums , piano very well. Lennon was mainly a guitarist/songwriter who did some piano work. I do not believe Lennon could have wrote and played a song on piano as complex as Martha My Dear.

  • @enolaniaga but you still have to admit they both had great potential in the music industry

  • Hey pianojohn113. Since you are a musician, I want to ask you this: Who is a more sophisticated musician, Lennon or McCartney?

  • @stampede331 John Lennon had some very creative chords, but Paul was probably the more sophisticated of the two, based on his complex melodies and rhythms.

  • @pianojohn113

  • @pianojohn113 What exactly do you mean by creative chords? Do you mean he would use a chord in a place in a song that most other artists would not? Does it mean he was actually creating chords (which seems unlikely)? I'm just curious what you mean. Thanks.

  • @stampede331 Paul used many chords that were not often written into popular music at the time. For example in Hello Goodbye, we have the F/G, the F to Ab6 to C progression, and a few others. He moved the bass line around the standard chords to give them a whole new sound.

  • @stampede331 Thanks, and what about John? You said he had some very creative chords...that's actually what I was referring to, though I appreciate the info about Paul.

  • Thank you very much. I am just bigginer but I think I can play! (I hope so.....)

  • Have you ever tried songwriting?

  • @pianodillon I occasionally pen something, but nothing I write is ever any good.

  • Thanks for all your videos!

  • all around a very good tutorial but towards the end you don't explain what your doing with your left hand. very good tutorial though.

  • John, can you please look at the transcription (just remove the unnecessary spaces/chars from the address below)?

    xttp: // [triplew] . noteflight. c om / scores / view / 9dc7742761db104c36f8baecfadd46d9d497a651

People were asking about your playing and I tried to write it down (to some degree. The free account doesn't allow me to do a full-blown score).

  • This is amazing! Thank you so much!

  • Acabo de subir este video, me gustaria que lo comentaras. Excelentes tus lecciones !

  • Thank you very much for your work !!! It´s great !!! You are great !!!

  • This is an amazing tutorial. I just want to say that you are an amazing teacher, and that i've learned about 4 different songs from you now through your videos, and they all sound exactly like the original songs. Thank you so much for putting these videos on here, my parents are very proud of me that i can play their favorite beetles songs! Thank you so much! You are truly talented!

  • Very very helpful...at start it seems kinda hard since there are some movements that you need to get at fast...but practice makes perfect :) did i notice at the end some free form playing ? just for flair ?

  • i love how your tutorials are always spot on! many tutorials sound different than the original. i finally got the intro down at normal speed after a couple of hours. and im fairly new to the piano, this is great :)

  • wow very nice voice!

  • This helped me a lot.

  • thank you

about the left hand i meant in the whole chorus, for example i think i saw a G during the C chord so its not just low C high C

  • @asssaf6 Yeah, I may have added a G.. sometimes it's good to throw in the 5th in the left hand just for variety.

  • Comment removed

  • great lesson thanks!

  • that was great- thank you

  • thankyou SO MUCH. especially for the Maybe Im Amazed one. its a beautiful song :). and hey jude as well!

  • ty very much

its very clear expect the left hand in the chorus and what have u done in 6:42, D? how?

  • @asssaf6 That part, in the left hand, I'm just playing a C octave. The right hand was a G-C-D-G.. I added the ninth there (the D note) just for effect.

  • I have learned so much from your tutorials. Thank you so much for all your work.

  • @pianojohn113 thanks

  • i just got to this vid and see the notes of the chord up top..so, please dis-regard my earlier comment....apologies..

  • I noticed after the solo in the actual song, the "Mother Mary comes to me" part in the second set of chords, it sounds a little different than the other ones. im just wondering what the chords are. thanks

  • @ZigZag1400 It might be a suspended 4th there on that Am chord.. I've heard that one too. Or, it was just Paul hitting a wrong note!

  • Hey John, awesome tutorial, it helped so much! I just finished learning it and now am trying to put the words with it. I was wandering if you use your sustain pedal much on this song and what parts?? The reason I ask is I just bought a new one and am messing around with it a bit.

  • @danvan5555 Yes, I do use the sustain pedal on this one, and it's used almost through the entire song. I should have probably said something about that when I did the video.. It really is necessary on this one, since the tempo is slow and the effect of the chords really depends on blending them together a bit. If you're new to the pedal it will take a little time to get it right, but soon you'll be able to do it without even thinking about it.

  • So thankful for this!

  • From just the complexity standpoint if John would categorize the lessons into 3 types - easy, hard and dude - that will be great. So for example, "Let it be" is probably easy and "Came is thru bathroom window" - is probably in the dude category. Just a thought but then again John is already doing enough - isnt it?

  • This is really good, screw piano lessons and here comes John =)

  • Damn right. I am sure John has put many piano teachers out of business inadvertantly.

  • Thanks so much for all your videos John. I've just started to learn piano (never too late hopefully), and learning (very slowly!) some of my favourites with your help is great fun alongside practicing scales etc. I could take me years to work through so many of the great songs you've have featured. Let it Be is one of my favourite songs and you play it brilliantly. Thanks for your all videos.

  • Yes, I finally finished this! John you are so awesome. :)

  • do you know any songs by 'the band'

  • Yes, Up On Cripple Creek and The Weight are two of my favorites of theirs.

  • would you be able to be up tutorials? i figure they may take more time then some of these

  • it would be MUCH appreciated

  • i think ur the best teacher on youtube and in the real world this was very helpful and so was the piano man and imagine tutorials. i would like to leave a request for Hey Bulldog. thanks

  • thanks - great help your the best teacher on utube!

  • you are by far the greatest piano teacher!! you make learning piano so easy! thanks.

  • Well done.

    Thnx

  • Please write the notes like you did in the first part. This is almost impossible for me to duplicate.

  • thank you sir

  • John i think your playing of beatles songs, and elton, are awsome, love ya voice too....

Can you please please do "Something" by The Beatles and "A song For Guy" by Elton John

Even if not as a tutorial then just to see and hear you play it.

    Thankyou

  • Thanks! I'll probably include "Something" on the next set of videos.

  • @oo7onetree take that fag for yourself. you must be a complete idiot if that doesn't help you. John's lessons are simple, clear and well done.

  • @oo7onetree

thats cause u don't have a brain, i find it hard as hell, but John has more talent in one finger than you have in your whole body, that's obvious otherwise you wouldn't of referred to him as a fag, get a life.

  • thanks a lot

  • You're very welcome!

  • that is how Paul McCartney played the song?

    or is your version?

  • Well, both, really.

  • I have a sustain question: So do you just press and release the pedal for each chord change? if not, what? thank you

  • Yes, for the most part, that's what you do. The pedal technique has to be learned, but once you get it down, it really becomes second nature.

  • very nice improv (6:40). could you tell me how to do it? i just spent half an hour trying to figure it out :P thanks.

  • I had to look at it again to see what I did there... All I did was play the C chord on the off beat, but I threw in a D-E right after I played the chord. So I played the C chord, then quickly a D and an E before the next beat.

  • How do your record your videos? I would like a cheap way to record my piano on to my computer but my laptop sound recored and video sound quality is terrible. Thanks.

  • I use a better camera now than I did last year.. I have a stand over the back of the piano that looks right down on the keyboard. You can either use the camera mic or place a hand-held mic off to the side.

  • pianojohn113

I don´t know how you do it! :D

I make a lot of covers of the Beatles´ songs in the piano but sometimes it gets pretty hard to me ´cause sometimes my ears are tricky...and then when I think I have made it correctly I see your videos and try to fix what I was dping wrong..

Just one question...you figure out the notes just by ear? If you do, I would love to have the ears you have... :)

  • Thanks! I think it comes from listening to the songs so many times over the course of a few decades.. :-) I figure out most of the notes and chords by ear, but if I get stuck somewhere, I will consult other sheets and try those chords. If they sound wrong, I'll keep trying new notes until it sounds right. That's pretty much the routine for me on these songs.

  • pretty awesome man :)

Someday I will play like you... I am just 15 years old after all :P

  • Didi you write this on a sheet? It would be really helpful :)

  • I don't have it on a sheet, sorry!

  • Thank you so much! I played this for a competition in my hometown, and I won! I get to play in front of a 1000 person crowd in a huge theater, all thanks to your beautiful arrangment! Thanks!

  • That is so cool, vivalakaylen! Congratulations on a job well done. If someone tapes your upcoming performance, I hope you decide to post it up as a response video so we can all see it!

  • not bad dude. not bad at all :)

  • I've learned the entire thing EXCEPT for the chorus. I'm having trouble following it-I do not read music so I have no clue what "A minor" is(or any of the chords for that matter)- could you please post a video with just the chorus(a really slow, explanatory one ,please) I know you're busy but this song is becoming an obsession. HELP!(no pun intended)

  • not a bad singer either, good job;)

  • Hey, do you have sheet music for this? the tutorial is really good, but I'm having trouble playing from memory

  • I don't have the sheets for this song, but the chords and the sheet music are available on most digital music websites. They'll likely be different from the ones in theis video in some cases, though.

  • i wish i could play like that, you´re amazingly talented

  • Thanks, brunaongaro, I appreciate it!

  • you have a pretty decent voice for this song, thanks for posting!!

  • Thanks! This one's a little easier to sing than some of the others, but only a little.. :-)

  • Hi im here again...im so addicted to your channel now..ive learnt other beatles stuff...but pls evry one on YOU tube is hoping for 1 tutorial which nobody has made....it is BOHEMIAn rhapsody by queen...could u make 1 pls PLS

  • Thanks!!!!!

  • You're very welcome! :-)

  • great tutorial maybe move a bit slower towards the end thoe!

  • Great tutorial, and I think your singing is fine.

  • Thanks!

  • Great tutorial, thanks. Very accurate and easy to follow. Is there a way to add the vocal melody in one verse perhaps, if the singers trail off a bit and need some encouragement?!

  • Thanks! Interesting idea on the vocals, not sure if I can add it to this video, though.. :-)

  • Great tutorial but I would cut the vocals

  • Gotta have the vocals.

  • It is very nice for you to upload these tutorials for us without charging people. There are piano enthusiasts out there like me who are so broke from college tuition & other expenses that learning a piano is a luxury we can't afford...with tutorials like these it's just nice to be able to learn to play the piano without paying money that we don't have. Cheers!

  • Thanks, andyrooney11, glad the tutorials have been helpful to you!

  • I think your tuorials are great! Thank-you for taking the time to upload these :)

  • Thanks! Glad to do it for you.

  • I agree.

i emailed that guy to ask him for the rest of a song that he cut off in the middle of and he emailed back saying its for members only. I went to the site and saw that i had to pay. No thank you Shawn Cheek.

  • haha ya

i actually learned a part of let it be from him but this is actually complete and free

john is the man, you are helping out so many people. not to mention the beatles boxset is coming out in a few days so i'm really inspired to learn a lot of beatles right now

  • Wow, interesting.. Well, thanks for the reference, even if that guy did block you.. I guess you must have really gotten under his skin if he took the time to go to your channel and make a comment about your comment!
