as far as i know he and sampras played two handed until the age of 17 or 18. when kids are younger it doesnt make too much sense du to lack of power

2 handed backhand is more solid and harder. but one handed backhand you can add more spin and have more control. also 1 handed is a little more versatile, allowing you to hit a few more awkward shots.

i think federer needs to up the intensity a little on his practicing, i think it would help him play better in matches against more intense oponents like nadal. but this may also be federer's secret to staying fit for so many tournaments.

@konvictz0007 2 handed backhand is more solid, and its better for returning. one handed backhands have greater reach and players with one-handed backhands tend to volley better. generally its actually easier to hit awkward shots with a double hander cause you can force the shots with your left hand. you can afford to time the ball a little later for the same reason.
