yeah, vintage amps have a sound that modern electronics cant duplicate easily so hes just broadcasting it over the PA, and odds are that hes had that amp forever too so he probably has an emotional attachment to it. also if its an old tube amp rather than modern chip circuitry, they sound completely different.. some ppl call it a "warmer sound" my father currently has an old sing 12 or 15 inch tube amp hes trying to restore for that reason
