Wow. That is a response! Like somebody said before. I would want them coming to my house. But wow, I bet after you took care of the car, you had to extinguish the q siren on the truck from being used sooo much. Lol. Awsome video!
its called listening to your radio!!!! I don't understand how certain people can comment here?? The was one unit on scene and the second due has no reason to respond aggresively...Do officers respond to theses calls??? If the person who posted this video is in the engine responding they know the nature of the call...If they don't then there not listening to there radio and should not be on the call in the first place. The men in this engine took it upon themselves to respond in this manner....
I see absolutely nothing wrong with this response. As far as the responding unit knew at the time of the response was there was a car fire. I'm sure they had no idea if there were people trapped, or if it were threatening other objects. The risks were completely justified in this situation. And as far as I care, if the driver hit someone, good for him. One less idiot driver that can get in our way on the next emergency. There is no reason the cars couldn't see or hear the truck coming.
@joshbuck8 Really? After reading the comments from the poster. Saying there was a car fire with no entrapment, and there was already a truck on scene.
@chechnya Comments from the poster are after the fact... If he knew there was no entrapment or the fire wasn't threatening anything, I'm sure this wouldn't have happened. As for what was going on at the time, they probably have no idea if anyone is inside, if it were threatening or anything. And even though there was a truck on scene, who cares?? Different trucks serve different purposes, maybe they needed both of them. If they didn't, then the first truck on scene should have canceled them.
You guys are all complaining about how there was a 1 unit on scene and how he is rushing to get there. I obviously dont know anything about this call, but was there ever a size-up or a cancellation to the second unit responding? Who knows except for the people in that area. But as far as we know, the car could be near other traffic endangering other vehicles, or hell it could have been next to a structure as far as we know. If there was a size up thats one thing but who knows if there was.
In Indiana (USA) lights and sirens on emergency vehicles is merely a "request" for the right of way. Civilians not yielding are subject to a fine. As sure as there is a lawyer chasing the abulance the FD driver, captain, and department will be named in the inevitable lawsuit when there is a collision.
having said that...one of my concerns about this is the median-hopping can easily cause tire damage if not an all-out failure. Besides taking you out of the game it'll cost ya $600 bucks

What you dont know was this was a vehicle fire and that this engine was 2nd due with another engine already on scene.. this driving is un called for and is guna get someone killed
LOL to all the comments here talking shit! I have been a cop and a fire fighter. And I have done this many times! You have to do what you have to do! The law says you can dive over the speed limit when responding and inpeed lanes if done so safely. He did not hit anything so there it was all good. Also think if he was rolling to help you or your family. I bet you would not be talking down then.
This particular situation was a car fire, with an engine already on the scene and no entrapment, so the risks taken are not worth it in this case. Sometimes you have to take some risks, not this time.
What if the car had exploded and then set fire to other things, wouldn't you want more fire fighters there faster? I think its better to have more than you need rather than less.
All too often do we have a call to respond emergency, without knowing if we're going to be first on scene or not. You say you can tell that this time they didn't need to take too many risks, they could have had no idea there was another unit already on scene.

if we had a firefighter do this in ohio theyd be in jail. i see why they drove in opposing lanes but sometimes you just have to detour because the point was made- they would at fault for any accedent and would be subject to lawsuit. you have to think deep about it... if that truck wrecks, the whole crew is out of service. a detour might add 2 minutes to a response but the whole crew is there...

This driving is totally assinine, maybe a fully involved structure fire would justify this, but a second due engine to a vehicle fire??? If this truck would have caused an accident or been involved in an accident I can assure they would be at fault because that is NOT driving with "due regard".
Yep. I don't see too many issues. In Australia although a last resort driving in incoming lanes is common place. Without peripherals this drive seems faster than it is but either way, you have to get on scene. It's true there was already a truck on scene but they're already on the wrong side of the road, they'd have had nowhere to go after downgrading. It's just a matter of finishing as safely as possible. Whilst it wasn't ideal, I think sitting on right was a worse idea. Hard to win really.

So quick to judge, all low speed lane splitting clear vision ahead no option due to congestion and the what if factor such as secondary fire and injuries so two trucks are better than 1 imo.

I dont think that driver should be allowed to after that. Going down the turn lane fine, but going the wrong way down the wrong side of a divided road, not a good idea. Its better to get to a scene in one piece and not risk other peoples lives and cars, not to mention your own engine.

Holy shit, I've driven there many times. It's Rt. 1 in college park MD just crossing over the Beltway. Awsome driving. Those CP guys know their stuff.
That's some good emergency driving, it's in my experience that you get people to move faster if you are facing them, and it works. Tight fit on some of those though, impressive!
well lets think if they did go with traffic they would be parting a wall of cars fourceing them into oncomeing traffic with out lights or sirens so whats a little bit more visible a engine or a little honda?
Major cities would include New York City NY, Boston MA, Miami-Dade Fire/Rescue (Florida), Worcester MA, Charleston SC, Los Angeles CA, and Providence RI.
I've got a great idea for a game! A firefighting game (like Firefighter F.D. 18) but with a driving feature as well! You can drive major city's fire truck to a scene of a burning building and try and put it out. It can have options like request for mutual aid, request for more apparatuses, request for ambulance, etc. The firefighting game will also feature an ambulance so you can respond to medical calls. Comment and tell me what you think about the idea.
Holy Sh*t. I can believe how that guy was driving in the on coming lanes. In Texas thats illegal no matter if your in an emergency vehicle or personal vehicle.
if i were the capt. on this rig the engineer would have been wrote up and never drove again. i don't care if it's a car fire, structure fire or an mva you just can't put the public in harms way by driving like that. if he were to have hit someone on that response with that video as evidence the driver would have gone tp prison. it's called due regard.
Now that's the kind of traffic we have at 5:30 PM. Absolute gridlock baby! Nothing like seeing the thermal column when your that far out and surrounded by morons!
All i will say is that if that were my call, i would do everything i could to get to the scene as fast and safe as possible. Hey sometimes we need to drive on the left side of the road. I have seen my capt. get out of the engine and tell people to move b/c they would not move.
well they way you should look at it is if your ass is the one who is in trouble i would def. want these guys hauling ass too, if you look at the right side of the road traffic would not be able to move so quit your bitching
The end of this video clip demonstrates that another emergency response team had already arrived on scene safely. The radio dispatch would have most likely notified this crew about that on the way to the scene. So there was no reason for them to endanger themselves or anyone else in order to get there.
No. Because the safety of everyone involved should be the firefighters highest priority, regardless of the number of trucks required to respond to a call.
I never said that I thought the other truck was an engine, but does it really matter if it was? My point is that I think this driver was behaving irresponsibly.
fair enough, but im sure that if he was way outta line that the officer on this call would have done something. Also, more people from their dept. probably saw this video so they would have done/said something too
what the hell is wrong with you people????? A firetruck drives too slow, you bitch and complain it takes them too long. A fire truck drives too fast, you bitch and complain they're putting everyones life in danger!!!!Jesus Christ cut them some slack!!! They risk their lives everyday for you and you criticize their driving!?
That guy is an idiot. why risk the likes of the citizens who we are supposed to protect by driving like that to be second due to a auto fire that allready has a pumper on scene.
what good are they going to be if they get in an accident on the way. none because they cant leave the scene of their accident. besides there was allready a pumper on scene
From a victims perspective, you couldn't know whether the emergency response crew is going to get there safely until AFTER they arrive. So it's irrelevant to pose a hypothetical question that assumes one in the position of a victim could have information about this and use it to determine how they'd feel before the first responders get there.
I didnt see the driver do anything wrong , u have to be aggressive all the time no matter what . People get out of your way faster when ur going head on.
Its to bad that this fire company makes the rest of the other fire company's look bad.Iam just glad nobody got killed or hurt. The driver must think he is in Europe or just stupid.
How does it make all the other fire company's look bad? For all you know the other truck could've just arrived. And if they didnt drive like that it would've taken alot longer to get there, which makes them look bad on their response time
If there had been an accident because of the way they were driving, they wouldn't have arrived at all. It would have taken alot longer for another company to respond if something had happened to them on the way to this call. It is a popular misconception that the general public has that we are exempt from all traffic laws. Is driving on the wrong side of the road over the center median worth risking your own life for and those of the rest of your crew?
The day these fucking yahoos kill someone, a lawyer is going to download all these clips and use them as evidence to prove they have no regard for safety. Ironic, since they're supposed to PROTECT the public, not put them at risk. This was a BS car fire, with an engine already on scene. I've been driving firetrucks for years, so go ahead and say I have no clue what I'm talking about. These fucking PG clowns are a disgrace to the entire fire service.
dont critize them for that response they needed to get there many a times ive been in a fire truck going to a job where you need to drive like that what if there was possible entrapment????
well, i don kno. juz pisses me off when people who aren't firefighters criticize them i guess. and then the same onez alwayz complain they took to long when somethin happenz to them, but i do see ya point
you see tha smoke retards? meanz there is most likely a vehicle fire.. which means they need to get there as fast as they can to prevent it from exploding if at all possible and to make sure nobody else gets hurt.. if you dont like their drivin, why dont you get in your car witta bucket of water and go put the fire out.. and yea ya'll are the same damn people who say "what took you so long to get here" if somethin happenz to you.
Yeah I agree, I hate people that go out there and criticize the driving of emergency persons, espically when they are the people that harass us for "taking so long". Lets see you drive code 3 down a busy street with a person coding in the back of your ambulance, didn't think so.
Someone needs to elarn to let up on the "Q" and teh air horn every once in a while...people driveing get more stupid the louder it gets...and its not liek tehy couldnt tell the truck wanted to get by...LOL...but they MUST have been Vollies
done this in an ambulance, it was all lights and sirens on, cross fingers and go for it. what was an advantage is the fact that all uk ambulances are bright yellow so clearly visable
That was a sick response. lol you gotta do what you gotta do. Reminds me when I took my patrol car through someones lawn/flower garden to get to an adjacent street. Was pretty funny since the guy was in the window cussing me out as I tore up his flowers. It was a tornado warning and some lady was about to go driving. Had to do what I had to do.
If apparatus is unable to cross on the right hand side of the road they are forced to move to the left... which is why they have lights, sirens and a horn... any ff should know that
I think I have to explain more. Of course emergency vehicles don't go the wrong way on the Autobahn, except at tunnel accidents with full stopping traffic. On city streets there is often too much traffic to go through on one of the right lanes.
I am not in this business, but I have seen similar in Germany (were I live). It seems to be very common here to go on the left side, I think because of narrow streets and lot of traffic. We have one lane each direction on normal streets, 2 on a normal Autobahn, in big cities Autobahn and some big streets 3 lanes and very seldom 4 lanes.
nice...mad props to the driver for doing that as safely as possible...if he would have been on the right side of the road...this video would be 5 minutes long...
Every driver knows that if it is to dangerous to not do it, this was fine and i see many apparatus respond on the opposite side of the road if there is traffic backed up. Maybe you just don't got the balls to do it. Also like i siad how do you know that that is an engine in the background, all we know is that there is smoke and fire and the camera in the apparatus could be the first due engine.
Wow. That is a response! Like somebody said before. I would want them coming to my house. But wow, I bet after you took care of the car, you had to extinguish the q siren on the truck from being used sooo much. Lol. Awsome video!

well lets think if they did go with traffic they would be parting a wall of cars fourceing them into oncomeing traffic with out lights or sirens so whats a little bit more visible a engine or a little honda?

Major cities would include New York City NY, Boston MA, Miami-Dade Fire/Rescue (Florida), Worcester MA, Charleston SC, Los Angeles CA, and Providence RI.
boston18967345 4 years ago

Jdc5317 4 years ago
if i were the capt. on this rig the engineer would have been wrote up and never drove again. i don't care if it's a car fire, structure fire or an mva you just can't put the public in harms way by driving like that. if he were to have hit someone on that response with that video as evidence the driver would have gone tp prison. it's called due regard.
veach883 4 years ago
Now that's the kind of traffic we have at 5:30 PM. Absolute gridlock baby! Nothing like seeing the thermal column when your that far out and surrounded by morons!

Whats with all the damn traffic! HOLY CRAP!

That was SOME KINDA RESPONSE! Traffic city USA. Terrific!
Hotshot679 4 years ago
All i will say is that if that were my call, i would do everything i could to get to the scene as fast and safe as possible. Hey sometimes we need to drive on the left side of the road. I have seen my capt. get out of the engine and tell people to move b/c they would not move.
KosukiFire 4 years ago
well they way you should look at it is if your ass is the one who is in trouble i would def. want these guys hauling ass too, if you look at the right side of the road traffic would not be able to move so quit your bitching
crazyjak87 4 years ago
holy shit. what a dumb ass driver. your gonna kill somebody!
carbonengine23 4 years ago
if you were the one who needed help, what would you be saying after you saw this clip, knowing that they got their safely?
stormtracker1 4 years ago
The end of this video clip demonstrates that another emergency response team had already arrived on scene safely. The radio dispatch would have most likely notified this crew about that on the way to the scene. So there was no reason for them to endanger themselves or anyone else in order to get there.
bbbbbfire 4 years ago
Yes, because all calls can be handled by one truck.....
Rofocowboy84 4 years ago
No. Because the safety of everyone involved should be the firefighters highest priority, regardless of the number of trucks required to respond to a call.
bbbbbfire 4 years ago
ok do you know for a fact that the truck that has already arrived is an engine?
cstoner15 4 years ago
I never said that I thought the other truck was an engine, but does it really matter if it was? My point is that I think this driver was behaving irresponsibly.
bbbbbfire 4 years ago
fair enough, but im sure that if he was way outta line that the officer on this call would have done something. Also, more people from their dept. probably saw this video so they would have done/said something too
cstoner15 4 years ago
I agree. Who knows? It's possible that someone did say something at a later time, maybe not.
bbbbbfire 4 years ago
what the hell is wrong with you people????? A firetruck drives too slow, you bitch and complain it takes them too long. A fire truck drives too fast, you bitch and complain they're putting everyones life in danger!!!!Jesus Christ cut them some slack!!! They risk their lives everyday for you and you criticize their driving!?

That guy is an idiot. why risk the likes of the citizens who we are supposed to protect by driving like that to be second due to a auto fire that allready has a pumper on scene.
pwcfire 4 years ago
if you were the one who needed help, what would you be saying after you saw this clip, knowing that they got their safely?
stormtracker1 4 years ago
what good are they going to be if they get in an accident on the way. none because they cant leave the scene of their accident. besides there was allready a pumper on scene
pwcfire 4 years ago
From a victims perspective, you couldn't know whether the emergency response crew is going to get there safely until AFTER they arrive. So it's irrelevant to pose a hypothetical question that assumes one in the position of a victim could have information about this and use it to determine how they'd feel before the first responders get there.
bbbbbfire 4 years ago
you think their going into the wrong lane for no reason..... jesus res6cue to save someones life.........
DBFRFirebuff1 4 years ago
I didnt see the driver do anything wrong , u have to be aggressive all the time no matter what . People get out of your way faster when ur going head on.
fdnycfd343 4 years ago
Its to bad that this fire company makes the rest of the other fire company's look bad.Iam just glad nobody got killed or hurt. The driver must think he is in Europe or just stupid.
bbbbbfire 4 years ago
How does it make all the other fire company's look bad? For all you know the other truck could've just arrived. And if they didnt drive like that it would've taken alot longer to get there, which makes them look bad on their response time
cstoner15 4 years ago
If there had been an accident because of the way they were driving, they wouldn't have arrived at all. It would have taken alot longer for another company to respond if something had happened to them on the way to this call. It is a popular misconception that the general public has that we are exempt from all traffic laws. Is driving on the wrong side of the road over the center median worth risking your own life for and those of the rest of your crew?
bbbbbfire 4 years ago
if you were the one who needed help, what would you be saying after you saw this clip, knowing that they got their safely?
stormtracker1 4 years ago
The day these fucking yahoos kill someone, a lawyer is going to download all these clips and use them as evidence to prove they have no regard for safety. Ironic, since they're supposed to PROTECT the public, not put them at risk. This was a BS car fire, with an engine already on scene. I've been driving firetrucks for years, so go ahead and say I have no clue what I'm talking about. These fucking PG clowns are a disgrace to the entire fire service.

dont critize them for that response they needed to get there many a times ive been in a fire truck going to a job where you need to drive like that what if there was possible entrapment????

You're 17, probably a buff or Explorer. You don't know shit, so pipe down puppydog.
res6cue 5 years ago
well, i don kno. juz pisses me off when people who aren't firefighters criticize them i guess. and then the same onez alwayz complain they took to long when somethin happenz to them, but i do see ya point
siccmadedarkdisciple 5 years ago
you see tha smoke retards? meanz there is most likely a vehicle fire.. which means they need to get there as fast as they can to prevent it from exploding if at all possible and to make sure nobody else gets hurt.. if you dont like their drivin, why dont you get in your car witta bucket of water and go put the fire out.. and yea ya'll are the same damn people who say "what took you so long to get here" if somethin happenz to you.
siccmadedarkdisciple 5 years ago
There is already an engine company on the scene, so what's the rush? They won't do anyone any good if they wreck before they get there.
vostock83 5 years ago
Yeah I agree, I hate people that go out there and criticize the driving of emergency persons, espically when they are the people that harass us for "taking so long". Lets see you drive code 3 down a busy street with a person coding in the back of your ambulance, didn't think so.
Just my two cents.

All that to be second due to a car fire. It's a good thing you didn't hit anybody because the law would fry the engineer's ass.
woochez 5 years ago
done this in an ambulance, it was all lights and sirens on, cross fingers and go for it. what was an advantage is the fact that all uk ambulances are bright yellow so clearly visable

wonderful.
NickyVeee 5 years ago
That was a sick response. lol you gotta do what you gotta do. Reminds me when I took my patrol car through someones lawn/flower garden to get to an adjacent street. Was pretty funny since the guy was in the window cussing me out as I tore up his flowers. It was a tornado warning and some lady was about to go driving. Had to do what I had to do.

If apparatus is unable to cross on the right hand side of the road they are forced to move to the left... which is why they have lights, sirens and a horn... any ff should know that
PFE576 5 years ago
I think I have to explain more. Of course emergency vehicles don't go the wrong way on the Autobahn, except at tunnel accidents with full stopping traffic. On city streets there is often too much traffic to go through on one of the right lanes.
Adler71 5 years ago
I am not in this business, but I have seen similar in Germany (were I live). It seems to be very common here to go on the left side, I think because of narrow streets and lot of traffic. We have one lane each direction on normal streets, 2 on a normal Autobahn, in big cities Autobahn and some big streets 3 lanes and very seldom 4 lanes.
Adler71 5 years ago
nice...mad props to the driver for doing that as safely as possible...if he would have been on the right side of the road...this video would be 5 minutes long...
souderico 5 years ago
Every driver knows that if it is to dangerous to not do it, this was fine and i see many apparatus respond on the opposite side of the road if there is traffic backed up. Maybe you just don't got the balls to do it. Also like i siad how do you know that that is an engine in the background, all we know is that there is smoke and fire and the camera in the apparatus could be the first due engine.
BGVAC31 5 years ago
Nice way to almost get someone killed and not even be first due to the call. That company must not see much fire and got some wood.
