Funny how there's always been a "world heavyweight champ" or "worlds best " declared in America, but there are only Americans that ever do hold the belt, lest it be a foreigner who was usually a fuckn heel.
Thanks for posting this! I grew up on WCCW with the Von Erichs, Adams, Hernandez, OMG, Missing Link, Brody, Rude, Kamala, Iceman, PYTs, Midnight Express, Fantastics, Tatum, Garvin, Adias, Perez, Madril, Killer Tim, the list goes on and on. My first match was an outdoor match at Texas State Fair between Gentleman C.Adams v. Kev Von Erich where Adams sent Von Erich to the hospital with a chair shot with Gary Hart managing Adams. Ah memories!
I remember when I was 6 or 7 and my sister would take to the Joe and Harry and your momma Colosseum here in S.A. Tx. Man the feuds between the Von Erichs and Freebirds were amazing, Bruiser Brody and Abdullah, Gino Hernandez and Chris Adams. CLASSIC. Will never even come close to nothing like that ever!!! Thanks for the vids. I rember those matches like they were yesterday.
first of mcmahon sucks hes a greedy bastard no reguaed for his employees, world class has more triumphs and legends like von erichs , brody, abdulah ,freebirds, chris adams, skandar, parsons. who will remember miz or swagger etc 20 yrs from now what a joke
the days of von erichs, brody, freebirds.parsons, adams, hart, this was the true era of wrestling most all of the wccw guys have past on now my past memories of wccw will outshine any past present or future of wwe
I got the "Triumph and tragedy of WCCW" DVD a few weeks back and finally had a few hours spare to watch it today.
Im from the UK and knew only a little bit about the "curse" of the Von Erichs and Kerry as the Texas Tornado but it just looked like there were some excellent feuds/matches/angles compared with the WWF of the time where everyone needed a cartoon style gimmick-it just looked like tough SOBs kickin ass and takin names.
I dont mind admitting I had a tear in my eye by end.
For me WCCW was always #1 Where else where you going to go to get the amazing matches and the feuds and crowds that were on fire?
The Whole NWA / Crockett / WCW on TBS franchise was pretty good too, but World Class had them all beat. WWE and and AWA during the glory days of World Class were for the most part boring old man shows. It was a sad time when WCCW started to fade away. We didn't have anything that even came close to comparing until the Attitude era and have had nothing since.
I used watch wccw they were in a league of their own, you got to admit that the sportatorium in dallas was considered the fenway park of professional wrestling
Vicvenom, you're a fucking pussy for blocking people. Also, you are a fascist for censoring people's freedom of speech. You're a fucking nazi communist. Go ahead and ban me now you fucking bitch.
Ill never forget the hair match, with Kevin and Kerry Von Erich vs The Gentlemen Chris Adams and the Handsome half breed Gino Hernandez. It was somewhere at a large outdoor venue. Great memories! Remember the sportatorium?
Damn it's been probably 20 years since I heard this. I can remember this song opening the show and taking you to a break. You knew the cartoon wrestling was over when this started playing.
This was the chime of the clock at 10 PM every Saturday night on KTVT Channel 11 in Fort Worth, (then-an indie station, now a CBS affiliate). Classic!
I was born in Dallas, went to the Sportatorium with my Dad and Grandpa a lot to watch World Class, there really never will be anything else like it again.
I watched World Class in 1986-88 when they were on their way out (I was six or so) and I still pine for the organization every time I watch Raw today. Great stuff!
Awesome. This is professional wrestling as I knew it. Professional in every since of the word. RIP, World Class as will as many all it's stars that are no longer with us.
I 2nd that statement. World Class was a great territory just like my home territory Mid South/UWF. The whole National Wrestling Alliance and Jim Crockett Promotions too. I know things change with time, but DAMN! I wish wrestling didn't. R.I.P. World Class,Mid South ,NWA/JCP and all of the other smaller wrestling promotions that gave us so much entertainment and excitement through the years. I guess YT is one of the only places we'll see this classic footage, huh?
I second that. All the companies you mentioned and more like ICW, GWA, AWA, Georgia Wrestling and Florida Wrestling were some of the companies that gave us great wrestling action. Hails to the old school brands.
Wow! Wccw. There will never be anything like it. Vince McMahon will never be able to top this Organization. True classics came out from The Sportatorium. I'll never forget David von Erich vs. Kamala. Freebirds vs Von Erichs. Iceman King Parsons..Kerrry Slamming King Kong Bundy. Gino and Chris adams. The list goes on and on......True real wrestling. Mcmahon has alot to learn...wrestling sucks now except for a few superstars like Mysterio, Sting, Booker T. Long live WccW!
Nice classic post, also there use to be a second version to this also...where towards the end it shows Ric Flair getting body slamed by Kevin VonErich.
That I believe was the third or 4th version. The second version was with The Missing Link headbutting Kerry with Skandor Akbar urging him on, and at the end, Kamala performed a vertical suplex, with Friday in the background dropping his fist at the end.
Wow!! thanks for reminding me. Even though we still may have wrestling, but it will never be like it was back in the golden age days. Every time i run across.. a ..old footage some one post up,it makes me feel sad,but the good thing is..we can always remember the golden age of wrestling.
Ric flair after the classic match @ Texas Stadium......."I'll be back for my belt!!"..haha classic!! please post that match here.......thx for the intro it's definately a classic!!!
and yes battlestarmarc, i will be uploading much more classic stuff... i have the entire world class library on 300 dvd rw's that was sent to me from texas through a close friend who worked in gary harts office at the sportatorium, can't say who...im sorry but you all would remember him well
you guys are very welcome... in my eyes, world class was the greatest company to ever cross the face of the professional wrestling world... skandar akbar is a good friend of mine an we talk over the phone atleast once a week... he agrees im doing a good job & to keep up the good work... i mean no disrespect to the mcmahon family at all, but this was when wrestling had real meaning...the glory days!!!
Vic I agree 100% with you about world class, I felt that WWF for the time being was a soap opera kind of wrestling and World Class was a true more realistic than any league. I cant wait to see what all you will have on your sight and I will check in everyday keep up the nice work VIC
hi pistol, i will be adding more videos soon, been busy banning people for downing the adkisson family on my page. some of these people have no respect for the deceased are the great memories that world class has given us, but i promise, i will be adding more withen the next few days
I sure wish that I had access to World Class Wrestling growing up as well as the then-NWA.It may not have been on the same national stage as WWF,but the wrestling was 10 times better on its worst day.
yeaaaa i remember that... i will see if i can track that down on my videotape collection. keep checking back, this is gonna be the biggest wccw page on youtube. i still have soooo much to upload. i have the texas stadium kerry vs flair match also but wwe will just make me take it down or have it removed. you will notice that my videos have no wwe logo's in the corner...i also have the terry gordy vs killer kahn match coming also
very good Vic, I think its great that u are teaching the people here on you tube about World Class wrestling.
This is where it all started where all today's story lines are created and some of top fueds in the 80s Von erich vs Free birds on of the best ones ever
also see about Gordy vs Mike PS in a tripple dome of terror
