@BittenMitten Back then the obstacles were new. There wasn't time for Sasuke specific training, to build replicas or to watch other runs to develop techniques for each obstacles. The newness of Sasuke itself was an obstacle.

@Fullmetal1222 First interview he said he even cried when he went home after the loss. Then the video showed his degenerative eye condition and how he struggles seeing in the dark, which was a big factor in his hesitation in the past (and running out of time as a result).

@Fullmetal1222 Next interview said he wasn't distracted by the crowd and just want to compete at his full potential. After the victory he said he said he was calm before the final stage and was happy to be able to focus all the way. He felt grateful that SASUKE gave him many chances and that he didn't cherish those chances in the past, and was glad to finally defeat the course.

Yes it was "easier" but you have to keep in mind, that nowadays people are rebuilding the obstacle course and train within a group a year or more. So it is hard to compare and if you count in the training and preparation the difficulty is about equal.

If they didnt make the course harder there would be a lot more ninja warrior winners today.
