I just had staples taken out on the upper part of my navel today actually, had an umbilical hernia. Seriously nothing to worry about. I'm the biggest wuss let me assure you lol! You hear the sound of the staple coming out, and you're like "oh man that gonna hur...wait, what?" There's a mild sting towards the end of the incision where the first and last staple are but it really is quite bearable. Hope this eases the minds of those having to go thru this!!
Staples are stronger and less likely to tear thru skin in area's where a lot of movement of the skin takes place is why staples are used. Staples allow better use of the skins elasticity in movement area's.
This video helped me calm down.. I have 121 staples in my armpit right now and you make it seem like its going to be easy when they remove them in 2 weeks. (I had to remove sweat glands in my armpit and they took a skin graph off my thigh. Seem like the hardest part of my surgery was the damn donor site (thigh) and that's all healed up now.) THZ
That's not that bad. I had 30 taken out of my leg a week ago. I had major knee surgery and I have a permanent screw in my leg:/ Not to mention the skin started to heal over the staples so as they pulled them out the skin broke and bled everywhere. Oh and I'm a 15 year old girl so I'm a total wuss when it comes to that stuff.
awe man that sucks. i only needed one fortunately. They had to break the bone and screw it back in so right now thats the only thing keeping the bone on. They also had to carve out a groove in the bone for the kneecap to sit in. Oh and this is my second knee surgery in the past year, I had one back in June. I had a dislocated kneecap so they had to relocate that thinking it was all fixed only 2 months after i finished PT it started dislocating again so they found the second thing wrong:/
is duzent hurt its just abit uncomfertable i had 19 staples taken out my leg after i broke my knee cap an had screws put in but i then ruptured my tendons on the same knee an had an operation last friday an ive got a cast on and 40 staples now could anybody tell me how long this new scar is gonan be ?
im getting 14 of these taken out tomorrow, had a hernia operation. do they let you keep the staples after they take em out? probably not im gonna ask if i can and if i can then cool if i cant then oh well. and does this hurt or no? Im thinking it doesnt b/c I read the other comments they numb the area first.
ok. I was only wondering b/c ive seen pics online of these staples and they looked like they were removed from a person and kept for the picture. also you say it didnt really hurt right but thats for them being taken out of a leg would the pain be any different than staples being removed from the groin area? im gonna have to get back yo you on that one b/c today im going in for this.
Medicate me as in numb the area first?? no. and if I remember right she put a band aid on the area that bled a little, but thats it. No wound care necessary.
it seems so niiice! ive only had a couple of pins on my left arm and when they pulled out i felt like the whole bone was coming off througn the lil holes in the flesh

That device would make a great office staple remover. Im amazed no one has come up with one for the office. Why staples, versus stitches?
1fatbastard 5 months ago
@1fatbastard Not really sure why they use staples over stitches.

Is it true that it's painless? I have 35 across my torso due to a tumor removed from my liver and my gallbladders taken out...
Alchrat 1 year ago
@Alchrat I can't say for sure about the torso, but on my knee it wasn't bad.

@andygv2 I'd say its going to be pretty long if you have 40 staples. I had thirty and mine is about 6 inches or so long.

I didn't ask if I could keep them so I don't know. I don't see why you couldn't. They didn't numb the area but it didn't really hurt either.
