  • Can you do a video on what "Features" your scanner has that a BC346XT don't.I really want to upgrade, but I would appreciate if you get a chance to make a video. Thanks

  • where you buy these at and how much and wich would you recommend???

  • @mrez1991 Any electronic store like "RadioShack" or website that pertain to scanners look up on Google E bay etc I hope it helps.

  • Bcd396xt is the top rated and best known scanner in the world! I love mine

  • i love my pro-106 but the larger display and blue back lighting is awesome on this scanner.

  • how do you make it hold the frequency when it gets to one that has incoming talking

  • @christianpolice Press the Hold Button.

  • what is the difference between the 396T and the 396XT? if there is any difference at all. which do you think would be the better scanner?

  • @mrshadrcak2 XT is a newer verson. It displays the talk group names and allows more talkgroups. It also always you to have multiple sites on one group. You also can select multipal display colors. I don't remember the other differences, but there are a few more. I bought the 396T first and ended up buying the XT and giving my dad the 396T as an early christmas gift. I say spend the extra money for the XT

  • Can this be used in Ireland , and is there a scanner that can pick up cell phones

  • @houseofmade Most of them will pick up cell phones. But Search up on "Google" if their are legal in Ireland.

  • $500 dollars could go for gas instead of that piece of shit nosey f****

  • Is it okay to have a Police scanner on your Android? Im from Australia by the way

  • Check out US Scancast, nationwide scanner feed / chat network! Scancast.webs.com

  • can you listen to phone calls on this

  • @phuckinmetal

You won't be able to find any cellphones on this. However if you search between 49-50 and 900-920 MHz you can find old analog cordless phones.

  • Why don't you use quick keys

  • nice scanner. i am a big uniden fan, currently own the BC246T and the BC346XT, neither one of these is digital but i dont have a need for digital now because most of my county still operates mostly on analog systems. anyhow, i hope by the time my county goes digital(maybe around 2013 or 2014) Uniden will have several other digital models out for sale. great to know though that they actually work on digital systems. lets just hope America doesnt go to a fully encrypted system like Europes Tetra.

  • TxWARN is now active in Northeast Texas (Tyler-Smith County area). I monitor with a BCD-996XT. I program with FreeScan. 73 de Brad, K5BDL.

  • Can you talk to them or to any other person using any scanner?

  • 450 on ebay. retarded

  • Heh, arian brotherhood... Just bought this scanner.

  • What is ur Facebook page? I need to talk to you/ about programing the scanner.. look's like you know what to do? Thanks Robert

  • @BertLane1988 Your best bet is to download a program called Free Scan and get a subscription to Radio Reference. You can program the scanner from your computer and download the frequencies right through the program. If your computer does not have a serial port you will need a serial to usb adapter. Doing it manual takes WAY too long. Radio Reference has forums with people that know way more than me. You only need a subscription to download through the program not to post to the forums.

  • Can you make a video hot to program the scanner.. Like i need to know what is MOT/EDCS/LT show how to program them/.....One by one. If that ok with you?

  • BCD396XT, What's this? help me !!! the frequency changes but most

the audio is encoded, "I hear so crackling" ... I hear only one side of the communication another part is encoded. the radio is defective or is configuration. How to make the correct configuration ?

  • @kaka7531 Does the botton on the display say ENC? It sounds like the other party has encryption turned on. If that is the case there is noting you can do about it. I run into that too on some of the Tac channels.

  • Wow this has great and clear sound! My Pro-96 doesn't even sound this good on APCO-25. I need to look at getting one of these. Pricey, but well worth every penny.

  • hey do you know a way to listen on the belgian police net? they use the Nokia THR8801, with a TETRA system.. it's called ASTRID. thx

  • @88forlive TETRA uses Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) which is a complex method of handling the tranmissions like GSM cell phones. It is also fully encrypted to my knowlege where only some of our P25 systems are. There is no scanner on the market capable of receiving TETRA and probably never will be. Phase II of P25 in the USA will also be TDMA though it looks like few agencies will be using for some time.

  • Comment removed

  • @billybassman21 TDMA is not encrypted. It is increasing the amount of people that can talk at the same time. Unidesn's next scanner will probably support TDMA.

  • Looks like my $40 Pro-137 on steroids.

  • @MrCryptica82 They should still be using the Motorola Type II Smartnet trunking system. The KSICS Project 25 system used by many agencies shows that all the talk groups are unencrypted. You should be able to hear everything with the right scanner. Check out radioreference for the frequencies and talk groups.

  • will i be able to hear san antonio police/fire/ems on this scanner san antonio operates on EDACS so im just wondering would this work in san antonio

  • @gdcardona91 There is no scanner on the market that can track ProVoice.

  • @deshiporta Police Scanner R Fun Too Have U Will Hear Alot Of Action On It

  • @youngcthedon Not if you live in the mountains of Montana, like I do... boring.. lol

  • @clayguy1 LOL dang really will i live utah LOL i kinda hear drama on the scanner like two people fighting over a damn cell phone and other drama

  • @youngcthedon I got started with scanners in the 80's when I lived in Sandy Utah. Back then the first time I listened to PD Freqs was when I had a am fm radio that had PD frequencies to..

  • Whats the need for this? Stealing from a bank and making sure someone didn't call the police?

  • @1GiveSubs1 I want one to see what the 5O are doing behind my car. I drive a truck the gets singled out way to much by the police. Gets kind of old.

  • @1GiveSubs1 - I have mine for listening enjoyment. I also have it to keep tabs on our public servants... the ones who are paid by my taxes and who should be accountable for their actions to the public as a whole. A lot of times I'll even record the traffic in MP3 format to make sure their misbehavior is caught on tape.

  • @Binky40SW The whole argument about "holding them accountable" doesn't wash. All transmissions are recorded for that purpose, and accountability doesn't include real time location and activity at all time. That's why encryption is a wonderful thing. Besides, what kind of "misbehavior" could you possibly capture? I'm calling you out on this, I bet you don't have ONE MP3 file of "misbehavior".

  • @CryptoDriver Get back to your trough, Pig.

  • Comment removed

  • @Binky40SW Wow, what a completely rational, thoughtful response. Now I know you were lying.

  • i have one of those i pick up police ,ambos fire, railroad, air, custom ,marine ,cb radio,tv and fm broadcasts

  • I'm thinking about buying a scanner for the first time and i dont wanna spend much, what can i buy and can use in harris county?

  • Comment removed

  • My god P25 (phase 1) sounds disgusting!

My heart goes out to those cops and emergency responders that have to listen to this all day long..

  • hey I got just like it.

  • ok now im a noob quick question is there a cheaper scanner that i can use to pick up the local sheriff in my area that doesnt cost 500$ i know i need a digital trunking scanner any suggestions? and is there a way i can but a radio that will let me TX not just RX? (i know scanner not tx)

  • @silentknight2112 There aren't many scanners under $500 that will do digital trunking.

As for transmitting... transmitting on what frequencies? If you need to talk on the police system the only way you're going to get a radio to talk on the digital system is to get hired as a cop, or get a job working on police radios. These things are as tightly controlled as bars of plutonium.

Analog radios? You can get them, but I would ask why, first...

  • @Binky40SW i am an explorer with my local sheriffs office and we are issued a radio for when we are on duty.... i wanted to know if there was a way to get one for off duty so i could keep up with the happenings in my area

  • @silentknight2112 at that point the scanner will do everything you need to do. The radio you can talk on, on the other hand, you will get on a need-to-have basis.

  • Im getting ready to buy one for around $562.00 Is it worth the price. I am replacing my older BC scanners. Any true reviews would be great..

    Thanks

    wjforbes

  • @wjforbes You can get it for closer to $500 online. It's a great scanner and worth getting. Make sure your computer has a serial port or you buy a serial to USB adapter. It's best to program it using your computer and a radioreference com subscription. I use the program freescan to program it.

  • what kind of antenna are you using

  • @hondaus90 At the time of this video I was using the antenna from my pro-34. I now use a radio shack 800 mhz antenna which works much better. The one that comes with this unit sucks.

  • If you have a police scanner can you transmit as in talk to dispatch or can you only listen ? And how do the police officers connect to other officers that are around them like in a pursuit do they call dispatch or do they just change the channel and anyone near them will hear ?

  • Ok these digital scanners can you pick it up anywhere? since its digital, it seems like it runs off of satelite, correct me if im wrong. im a new-be to this digital stuff. my home town sheriff's department is going digital in August, and i want to know how this works. Can i pick my my county anywhere in the country? or only in the range like it usually is?

  • @ColonelTaps

They DO NOT broadcast off satellite and have tobe in range, They run off towers just like the analog systems do. Instead of broadcasting FM modulation it broadcast 1s and 0's. With digital it is all or nothing so while you might be able to get a weak analog signal with digital it would break up, not come in at all or come in crystal clear. As you can hear on mine the digital is much clearer even though they use the same towers as the analog which is pretty weak with that antenna.

  • @billybassman21 OK thanks...

  • will this work with analog no-trunking also?

  • @chuckegraham

Yes and you can enter the pl tones (CTCSS or DCS) to filter out stuff like the station ID.

  • what kind of antenna are you using other than its indoor???

  • dont those retail for like 4 or 5 hundred?

  • @gezelle007

Yes $530, got this for $500.

  • @billybassman21 ah nice. I dont think i would by it, one cause theres no p25 networks where i live, and two, id rather rely on the online feeds than get one of these babys but i bet its awesome to have.

  • Maybe not a good idea to have someone's name, address and status given out. But thanks for the demo.

  • So how do you like it? I have been thinking about buying one, Are they hard to use? Who is all using it now? I'm still using the trunking system Uniden.

  • @cuofamerica

It's not too bad if you use the data cable, a programming software like Freescan and a subscription to the Radio Refference website. Programming it without using the data cable and a computer takes forever. This is the best handheld on the market and I would recommend it if your area has or is soon switching to a P25 system. Just make sure you buy a better antenna as the factory one sucks.
