@nismofury hot rod mag The March issue has a pretty good article on the '13 GT500, focusing on the engine most of all.

Of particular note, with respect to a shot of the dyno computer screen: "The 650 HP rating is at the maximum continuous RPM of 6250, but the redline is 7000, at which point we saw 670+ HP on the screen. But Ford probably doesn't want you to know that." this car may be over 700hp!

It was inevitable it would do 200mph. The gearing in the 03 would have allowed it to hit 200mph but some say it wasn't stable enough at those speeds to do so. 650hp, the aero package being 30% more efficient then the prior, perfect formula for it.

It hits 202 mph, the aerodynamics were actually built for 200 mph speeds.

ZR1 and GTR are much more expensive.

@FearCarlos Actually, the only hand Shelby has in this is he lent his name to it. The GT500 is designed by SVT engineers. Thus, it is an in house production car by Ford. The tuned variants done by Shelby are the GT500 Super Snake and the GT350.
