  • @flurble33 Not always. If the opponent is within attack range, the off hand has to be away and out of the way from the target. This is to prevent covering target. It can be dropped next to a fencer's side. The purpose of putting the hand behind the waist at the beginning is to prevent a novice from using his unarmed hand to block a target. Higher level fencers do not need to follow this.

  • To make this clear, this is a Rapier sword? Because you may fight like that with a Rapier, that may be proper for it.

    But Long-sword or any other sword, thats a no no
