  • I will never forget the day Sr Eileen flipped up the back of my plaid pleated skirt. She slapped my thighs bright pink. The memory's enough to fill me with the exhilaration of shame and excitement.

  • I went to school at SHG in Springfield and SMP displays a character and servant leadership style that is wonderful. Good luck in your transition and advocacy of the institutions of Catholicism. God Bless.

  • I went to school in the Springfield Diosese. Lots of good schools there, and the Sisters were the best part of it.

  • Most of the nuns that taught at my school were terrible and mean. I still have pinch marks on my arms from a few of the sweet ones. I knew a few that drank, others that were seen in bars, and only a small handful that I would ever consider a true nun

  • Oh god, that is awful! What a travesty that so many religious used their power over helpless kids to bully and repress. When I read about the Magdelene Laundries, etc. I realize that some of the abuse was institutionalized. I realize I was very blessed to have a great group of sisters who came out of the 60s and 70s traditions of mercy and true Catholic compassion. That is the Church I remember and miss. We could use another Pope John 23.
