I hope that they didn't replace this Palast der Republik with an ugly looking 20th Century modern "architecture". The buildings which the Germans have built showed beauty and love of life. I won't comment any more about the modern day "architecture", for there is really nothing to comment about! Good video and thank you for the memory and its posting herein.
@Nguli34689 No they want to rebuild the old emperor-palace. It was so ugly and uncomfortable that the last German emperor Wilhelm II celebrated his parties only in the hotel Adlon. Fortunately they have not enough money. So it's a lawn now for the next years. Thank you very much for your comment. Martin
@MartinRaetzJr@MartinRaetzJr The old emperor-palace wasn't ugly but very beautiful.I am sure you never heard about the parts likeSchlossapotheke,Haus der Herzogin and so on.The Schloss stood there for half of the millenial until your Ulbricht decided he needs a place for his soldiers to creep in the Sowjet's back. The Schloss wasn't so destroyed, there were still exibitions, even people lived there. Warschau reconstructured its Schloss too,GDR didn't.For heavens sake the ugly 70s crap has gone.
@winterweib You are right, it was not necessary to break off the palace. But after 1945 many old buildings was destroyed because modern architects wanted to build modern buildings. Many people hated the architecture of the German Empire because of they gave the Kaiser the blame for the world war I (and so for the world war II). The communists was very assiduously to destroy symbols of the German Empire and the church. But they wasn't the only one.

P. S. Ulbricht was not "mine".
