Franken rebuts this by arguing that the reform in question moves US healthcare in the direction of European systems that *don't have any* medical bankruptcies.

One thing about statistics that you should know is that whenever the sample size is 1000 or more, it usually will give you an accurate representation of the population as a whole, not matter how large that population is. The only way sampling size as it compares to the population as a whole matters is in terms of margin of error; smaller sizes will give you larger margins of error. But it doesn't mean the study's inaccurate.
Besides, the sampling size of the study done by Himmelstein is about five times smaller than the one Federal Reserve and the DOJ used, so even if it did matter, the Fed and DOJ study would still not be any less legitimate than the Himmelstein one.
I would like to know why your sources are credible while TYT are not. Don't get me wrong, I find that TYT talk a bunch of crap on things they know nothing about. However, look at just one SPECIFIC reason:
"Debtor said medical bills were reason for bankruptcy: 29%"

I do not; however, agree with the policing of the world. We should keep them home, keep them safe until we need them. The military is a very small portion of our overall debt. We have 60Trillion (with a T) in liabilities from our Social Security program, and the baby boomers will retire soon. THAT'S a real crisis that nobody wants to face.

It was Dr. Durchfall-Roth who brought bankruptcies into this - she was arguing "this reform is a bad idea because it would increase bankruptcies." Franken rebuts this by arguing that the reform in question moves US healthcare in the direction of European systems that *don't have any* medical bankruptcies.
The rest of it is just red herrings.

Part 3 spends much time lambasting TYT's lack of maturity. But as for the facts regarding the injured black republican with no health insurance, the response is simple: they read the story BEFORE the update.
Part 4 only proves that HTWW didn't even understand Cenks position on the public option enough to even refute it properly, which in turn refutes all of his weak arguments made in part 2, and demonstrates it was all taken out of context.

One thing about statistics that you should know is that whenever the sample size is 1000 or more, it usually will give you an accurate representation of the population as a whole, not matter how large that population is. The only way sampling size as it compares to the population as a whole matters is in terms of margin of error; smaller sizes will give you larger margins of error. But it doesn't mean the study's inaccurate.

I no longer have medical debt, I have a second mortgage. If you actually read the study and look at Table 2, you'll see that the breakdown of the study participants' reasons for their filings.
That 62% figure is misleading & a poor choice by the study authors & here's why. The study found 9 reported reasons for the bankruptcies. If you claimed ANY of those reasons, then the number is 62%.
However, look at just one SPECIFIC reason:
"Debtor said medical bills were reason for bankruptcy: 29%"

Obviously deporting citizens who want to voice their opinions against a man (who is clearly infatuated with Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh) is the best course of action.
