  • wait... JOHN BARRYMORE PLAYED SHERLOCK HOLMES? OH MY JESUS. OH MY JESUS LORD. OH MY GOD THAT JUST MADE MY WEEK

  • Barrymore wasTHE reatest!

  • I haven't seen this version yet by Kino but I notice that it only runs for 85 mins. the Videobrary version I have is 103 mins. Anyone know if any scenes missing or just been speeded up?

  • I was able to view this movie thanks to TCM airing it during their Sherlock Holmes movie marathon Christmas Day 2009. It's pretty good.

  • it's a fortunate thing that we all can even view this movie. It was lost for over 50 years. Then in the 70s it was rediscovered disassembled in bits & pieces of rolled film. The director Al Parker was still alive in the 70s & assisted in the film's reconstruction, a lot of it from memory. Parker died in the late 70s. Kino at least marketed the reconstructed film on DVD, (this is a clip from that DVD), but gosh I wish they would get rid of that huge logo.

  • GASP! I have never been able to get a hold of this film! I thought it was "lost"! Have to get it now!

  • I agree with dglekjofg. John Barrymore was smokin'.

  • this is the whole film that was found???

  • This was mastered from a 35mm restoration by the George Eastman House Motion Picture Department.

  • O thanks so much for posting.

  • John Barrymore was such a handsome man.
