Republicans as we all know have tunnel vision, they're delusional (Bush said he'd won the war in Iraq years ago),they've lied and distorted the truth for so long now that they CAN"T SEE or handle it at all ! LOSERS !
You know, it is pretty bad when we have the American War machine completely bankrolled AND our very own NASA facing a possible shut-down due to, you guessed it, funding. Wake up people, why take NASA down when there's 533 billion dollars to spend on cures and housing people of the world. No, this isn't some pinko commie (although I am a socialist) spewing heartwarming fantasy. This could very well happen.
I believe this video is skewing some facts. Obama's TOTAL military defense budget is slightly greater than Bush's last budget, although Bush had greater ones earlier on in his presidency. What I believe the critics are mostly criticizing, are the cuts in Missile Defense spending at a time when North Korea is really ramping up their nuclear and missile programs, with a deadly combination of a possible ICBM or other long-range missile that could easily be converted to carry a nuclear warhead.
the prob is that he spending more and mutch more how he spend it wth Its not becausse some1 say something false that make the fact that he will prob waste more money be good ! This is only a mind trick to make you belive that spending more is good.
The republican party is desperate. Next thing you know they will be calling pizzas to be delivered to the white house that Obama didn't order. They are running out of ways to win the election they think is still going on,
Please cite one case where Democrats railed against Rumsfeld for wanting to make the military leaner and meaner.
Rumsfeld said that, and then helped get us into the Iraq debacle, which will end up costing us in excess of $2 trillion. And then he bungled the Iraq adventure, making Vietnam look like a success.
Please stop making things up, Ted. You sound more and more like Fox News every day.
Absolutely. And it made the Democrats look like uneducated idiots when they made the claim too. Interestingly two wrong don't make a right.
The problem is the two parties are so similar they have to make things up to get their voting base riled up. Both sides talk along party lines then actually do almost the same thing all too often. Lying is lying and is not excused by, "Well he did it first!"
Yes yes yes, yet even if that's true this wasn't a vid of Washington Democrats talking now was it? Nor does it change that the Republicans lied about this spending increase that nets more jobs.
if the usual increase is 15% but now 4% then its not a cut but a reduction in budget increase. Accountant sees it as an increase that is marginal, someone in the army sees it as a cut because they aren't getting more of what they were promised.
IMHO both sides are playing semantics with this to the deteriment of the truth.
If the republicans weren't so unbelievably idiotic, I would wonder if they planned this; accusing Obama of military cuts to make him prove he's really changing nothing from the Bush spending. In reality, I think the truth just happened to surface on MSM for once...enjoy the stuff when you can get it.
I thought libs hated defense spending and were anti war?
Shouldn't we be cutting all government spending right now, so we can cut out employee taxes for a year and give the working people and small business a much needed break; making recovery possible?
of course there will be more military spending, america wants to pull out of iraq, no fucking shit you would need more resources to bring it together and thats whats obama doing. no sacrifice no victory, everyone knows that, it will gradually decrease over the years to come, this is just some stupid media giving shit about obama. and they are disobeying the rules of attacking the president. same happens for all presidents, media attacks em, give em time to produce the magic for fucks sake

1. Every POTUS and almost every State Gov. has done that for the last 60 years.
2. What pork barrel spending? Even Bush stated we need to update our infrastructure, only he didn't attempt to do so. Tax increases for top 5%. Boo Hoo! They reap the most benefits from the FED so fuck'em!
3. It was meant as an insult to himself.
4. Republicans ignore vets who can no longer serve and cut their benefits. Discraceful!
5. That date was negotiated by Bush. The fact is that the Iraqi govt forced Bush to agree to a deadline. They want us out by 2010. Obama agreed to the same time line.
6. What is the basis for this claim? Obama is attempting diplomacy, something the previous admin. knows nothing about.
7. It was a true statement. So what.
Go look at the lengthy list of Bush failures and lies and then see what you have to say.
why does this need to be defended? shouldn't we be sad we are blowing so much money on useless defense projects? how are F-22s going to defeat terrorists?
they can kill us with $29 worth of explosives and a garage door opener, and so we're going to spend $300,000,000 (each) on the world's most advanced air to air dogfighter...right.
The two party system is a joke. There is no choice. Both parties subscribe to exactly the same special interests and paid off accordingly. When, oh when, will the public wake up as no one represents them.
Eventually if we don't reverse these spending increases and cut spending dramatically all of the money spent will need to be printed and hyperinflation will make the dollar worthless. All Americans who don't prepare now could soon be broke. Read the articles and signup for the free newsletter at: Inflation . us
The main American that feels betrayed right now is Captain Phillips off the coast of Somalia. Obama hasn't even recognized this poor man's plight. Rahm is trying to figure out how to make to make a lemonade out of this lemon, and Obama will speak after 3 or 4 days on the issue because he likes to be sure what he is talking about before he speaks.
Democrat vs Republican is the same as a TV wrestling match. A choreographed routine to continue the 'offensive' war budget. Do you get that, or are you still cheering for your favorite wrestler?
you are talking about public advocacy, political theater - and sure, like in sports you cheer for your team and the other guys are bums - but Obama is making significant changes - to say Obama and Bush are exactly alike and it makes no difference is to ignore the last election, the last 8 weeks, and to assume the entire population of the world are imbeciles -
they are cutting military pork spending on unnecessary systems - spending that benefits political districts - that's where the right-wing howling is coming from - and they're using the savings to pay better - what's wrong with that?
He is cutting the F22, the F35, the Spaceborne Multiple Kill Vehicle, the Boeing Airborne Laser Anti-Missile system, and many other next generation systems that are designed to guarantee American air supremacy and the ability to shoot down incoming BALLISTIC MISSILES.
How is the ability to shoot down missiles (which North Korea and Iran are developing) "pork"?
it's pork because they are 25yr-old failures at stopping nuclear proliferation - look at North Korea - they were so frightened by Bush's weapons and tough talk that they tested a nuclear bomb - THAT worked out well! - we can always blow up they sites if we want - after 25years, all those anti-missile systems are trillion dollar failures perpetuated by politicians in whose districts the manufacturers create JOBS... besides, the U.S. just can't afford the Pentagon's wish list these days...
and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public administration the mirror of the ill-concerted & incongruous projects of faction, rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common counsels & modified by mutual interests. - George Washington
They serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial & extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation the will of a party, often a small but artful & enterprising minority of the community;
Once again political parties have skewed reality. Everyone is missing the point... WE INCREASED THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX! My God, people! When are we going to stop bickering about red & blue, ass & elephant?! Don't you see that both parties are serving an agenda of imperialism.
It is a CUT from what was slated before the changes made to it.
Notice they mention 513b in "the last year" of Bush's term, but when talking of Obama's they talk about 2010 - 2 years away.
What is it this year?
Oh wait! We can't tell you, or you'll realize we're all lying to you to make someone else look bad, and the truth would make that backfire on us. :P ROFL
The old-school GOPers are just upset that there is really nothing they can call the President out on, so they make shit up.
That and the fact he's finally getting rid of stuff we haven't needed since the height of the friggin Cold War. Conservatives, by definition, do not like change.
Republicans, and their followers, don't take into account facts or reality. If they want to call an increase disarming America then it will be, to them. These people are so stupid it is a waste of time trying to reason with them.
.. Inhof does not know math .. he is an ignoramus from a red state in which *every**one* of its counties went to Palin/McCain. If there is ever such a thing as hell on earth, its got to be Oklahoma.
.. actually I *have* been to Utah on several occasions and a number of my relatives moved there (guess why?) .. If hell were hot, indeed Utah would qualify. As a red state, however, Utah is somehow different .. not quite as prone as Oklahoma or Texas to drink the neo-con Kool-Aid ..
LOL cut it... riiiiight Don't forget the new video game that came out today! It is a really fun arcade like maze game that is VERY addicting! You can try the demo out at NACHOSOFT(.)com
Show me the clip of Olbermann and MADDOW defending the increased pentagon budget. Pointing out idiocy is not defending anything its just debunking idiots.
wasn't refering to anything u said... Just commenting on how reps don't care bout spending when bush in office, but now they do... and dems complain about the size of the defense budget, until obama in office... now suddenly they the increase in defense spending under Obama is a tool against the repubs... its such a joke....
You misinterpreted the contents of the video, obviously.
Maddow, Olbermann, Stewart, Schultz, etc weren't praising Obama's expanding of the defense budget, but rather defending him against stupid and obviously partisan attacks made against him.
Naw, I was just joking with you. My last name just happens to Maddox, so I acted as if you were talking about what I had said. If you observe the discussion, I haven't said anything else before this. lol
That's not a bad idea, why not pitch it? It might catch on maybe even make it an interactive audience event. You should try it, reach out to people who might be interested like the young Turks Huffington Media matters why the hell not run with it? The worst that could happen is they say no.
Lol. Olbermann needs to learn how to do math first before he tells others. $534 Billion is 19 Billion more than 515, not 21. If it were at least 20, the clue would be that the number after the 3 would be over 5.
If you listen to his words, he quotes the defense budget of '09 as being 513. It is different depending on your sources and where you define "defense spending". If you use Olbermann's number of 513 as the '09 defense budget, and Olbermann's number of 534 for the '10 budget, than his difference of 21 is correct.
It's about what he's spending it on: programs that create jobs and are used efficiently. There's nothing wrong with military spending, and when you're fighting two wars, it's important that they're properly funded. We also need defense for the future. What we don't need is wasted money, like cruisers that go 5 billion over budget, or planes whose functionality that are no longer required.
I would just like to add to what corsikaa said about the TYPES of programs we are spending it on by saying that Bush severely underfunded the VA in its fight to help Iraq vets not just with the "physical" injuries they have suffered but with PTSD - Obama is using more of the money to fund the VA and other programs we actually may need.
I hope liberals use this logic on entitlement spending too...

Its the same old thing. The Demorats whined when Republicans tried to reduce the amount of increase in Medicare spending back in the 90s.
The libs whined and called it a CUT, and it too WASN'T.
Just a LITTLE hypocrisy here from the Demonrats.
Whats worrisome is that certain programs, necessary to safety and scientific innovation, ARE being CUT, like the F-22, F-35 and NMD.

Let's review Obama's first eighty days in office. Obama has done the following:
1. Packed his cabinet with tax evaders and lobbyists.
2. Supported huge pork barrel spending and tax increases.
3. Insulted disabled kids.
4. Attempted to force wounded Vets to pay for their own health care.
5. Given terrorists in Iraq our withdrawal date.
6. Adopted a policy of appeasement with Iran.
7. While standing on foreign soil, said that America was "arrogant."

Well I don't know where you make you're assumptions, no wait I do know, they come out of your ass...
You still didn't answer the question, obviously you've resorted to side swipes, and useless babble in order to not answer the question.

Discraceful!
cynisturb 2 years ago
So what.
Go look at the lengthy list of Bush failures and lies and then see what you have to say.

why does this need to be defended? shouldn't we be sad we are blowing so much money on useless defense projects? how are F-22s going to defeat terrorists?
they can kill us with $29 worth of explosives and a garage door opener, and so we're going to spend $300,000,000 (each) on the world's most advanced air to air dogfighter...right.
zed4785 2 years ago
Yes but IF the terrorists secured some of their own fighter jets, then where would we be? We NEED the F-22 to combat this potential threat!

Read the articles and signup for the free newsletter at: Inflation . us

There are 4 corners to the earth.
With 3 wars per corner, we are one battle group short of our needs.
Just as you are a little short yourself

Since the earth is round, what "4 corners" are you referring too?

Why are all these so called "liberals" defending Obama's military spending INCREASE???
y2knoproblem 2 years ago 2
Bush would have increased spending too. They are the same. I wonder if those who voted for Obama feel betrayed like so many who voted for Bush.
There is only one major party, it's called the Establishment Party.
Epic878787 2 years ago 2
The main American that feels betrayed right now is Captain Phillips off the coast of Somalia. Obama hasn't even recognized this poor man's plight. Rahm is trying to figure out how to make to make a lemonade out of this lemon, and Obama will speak after 3 or 4 days on the issue because he likes to be sure what he is talking about before he speaks.

Democrat vs Republican is the same as a TV wrestling match. A choreographed routine to continue the 'offensive' war budget. Do you get that, or are you still cheering for your favorite wrestler?
mete1954 2 years ago 3
you are talking about public advocacy, political theater - and sure, like in sports you cheer for your team and the other guys are bums - but Obama is making significant changes - to say Obama and Bush are exactly alike and it makes no difference is to ignore the last election, the last 8 weeks, and to assume the entire population of the world are imbeciles -
davis80smusic 2 years ago
This is nonsense.
The increases are for salaries and benefits.
Obama is GUTTING the defensive systems.
For a partial list, just do a YouTube search for "Truth About Obama Saudi Connection".
Some key defensive systems are being eliminated.
redluckyhat3 2 years ago
they are cutting military pork spending on unnecessary systems - spending that benefits political districts - that's where the right-wing howling is coming from - and they're using the savings to pay better - what's wrong with that?
davis80smusic 2 years ago
He is cutting the F22, the F35, the Spaceborne Multiple Kill Vehicle, the Boeing Airborne Laser Anti-Missile system, and many other next generation systems that are designed to guarantee American air supremacy and the ability to shoot down incoming BALLISTIC MISSILES.
How is the ability to shoot down missiles (which North Korea and Iran are developing) "pork"?
redluckyhat3 2 years ago
it's pork because they are 25yr-old failures at stopping nuclear proliferation - look at North Korea - they were so frightened by Bush's weapons and tough talk that they tested a nuclear bomb - THAT worked out well!

Once again political parties have skewed reality. Everyone is missing the point... WE INCREASED THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX! My God, people! When are we going to stop bickering about red & blue, ass & elephant?! Don't you see that both parties are serving an agenda of imperialism.
alby711 2 years ago 4
Wordplay is so fun.

Conservatives, by definition, do not like change.

clowns to the left of me,
jokers to the right....

You misinterpreted the contents of the video, obviously.
Maddow, Olbermann, Stewart, Schultz, etc weren't praising Obama's expanding of the defense budget, but rather defending him against stupid and obviously partisan attacks made against him.

jokers to the right.... "
Yeah yeah yeah, we know.

Obama is spending $18 Billion in defense MORE than Bush? So much for "change."
whoo689 2 years ago
Lol. Olbermann needs to learn how to do math first before he tells others. $534 Billion is 19 Billion more than 515, not 21. If it were at least 20, the clue would be that the number after the 3 would be over 5.
whoo689 2 years ago
$513 billion, pay attention.
vitriolix 2 years ago
If you listen to his words, he quotes the defense budget of '09 as being 513. It is different depending on your sources and where you define "defense spending". If you use Olbermann's number of 513 as the '09 defense budget, and Olbermann's number of 534 for the '10 budget, than his difference of 21 is correct.
corsikaa 2 years ago
It's about what he's spending it on: programs that create jobs and are used efficiently. There's nothing wrong with military spending, and when you're fighting two wars, it's important that they're properly funded. We also need defense for the future. What we don't need is wasted money, like cruisers that go 5 billion over budget, or planes whose functionality that are no longer required.
corsikaa 2 years ago 2
I would just like to add to what corsikaa said about the TYPES of programs we are spending it on by saying that Bush severely underfunded the VA in its fight to help Iraq vets not just with the "physical" injuries they have suffered but with PTSD - Obama is using more of the money to fund the VA and other programs we actually may need.
