  • I saw 4462 at Germantown depot today. I like the RTS ll buses with the slant backs better. They look more unique

  • old

  • I am happy to say that being born in 1991 I can remember seeing these buses in person everyday driving on the 25. I wish they could have stuck around so that I could ride them, but I am happy that I got to experience these and the Neoplans in person.

  • @1985jon If you asking about this unit portrayed, she definitely a 92 hooked to a 730!!! However if you asking about JBL-Queens and what not, them units was 71's hooked to 730s!!!! Lovely engines!!!!! Hope that help!!

  • For God Grace I loved these slants!!!!!!! How you gonna do this to a brotha?!? But I be lovin you for it, tell you that much!!!!! She appear to be coming off the exit near to about Valeigh Place in Jamaica, and she is a advance design JBL {switch to Green as well}..it was a "RTS" 203 model GMC transit with the smaller of a DD-V71 propowering them to a 730C!!! Unfortunately the Newlook aint audioable! Terrific film sir, Thanks for sharing!!!

  • When will those buses run again?

  • Two epic buses!

  • I wish we had more footage of the RTS nearing it's last days of service. I miss that 6V92 they don't sound like that anymore.

  • did u get a video of u riding it?

  • i miss those 80 RTS PIMP MACHINES. I first saw this actual rig when i was 3 yrs old on new years of 85' sitting in front of WDAS FM on city line avenue on its way to media. yea my memory is sharp as a no. 2 pencil people.

  • Back when buses looked cool...

  • I wish I was alive to see those older GMC RTS buses

  • So do I.

  • @jamin108 I rode the first one out of Germatown Depot Septa badl .needed new equipment..they were buying old flexilbes from washington and trolley cars from Toronto In its rush for new equipment..they ended up with a fleet of GMCs whos air conditoning didnt work. Septa retrofited them with roof top a/c, kinda like the ones u see on the current buses...the first a/c retro fit out of Germantown Depot was 8264. This GMC u see here is a frontier div bus..its 4400 series and shorter than city buses

  • @jamin108 Ive been riding septa buses since the late 60s...the old half moon back window Gms had character..dimly lit inside small windows..it was basically like a bus pcc trolley car but with diesel constantly burpin from the back..the Gm Fishbowls were aluminum and u could feel it with every pot hole..but they had that fishbowl window with those classic wipers..then came the flexibles and plastic seats..and the transmission probems, they were horrible on hills but still classics..the GM RTS

  • @jamin108 were a rush order...they were the most modern buses septa ever had..gone was the back window, opening side windows rope buzzer stop driver signal..replaced by smoked windows , rubber touch stop indicators a very smooth ride and that motor...in my opion the best sounding motor ever on city bus...you could hear the turbo whinining and when they were new effortless shifting..the full body plastic shroud..that hasnt changed since the 80s.they were classics buses..NYC still has some runnin
