Her voice is just incredibly lovely and very compelling! I find it less emotional than others singing this-I absolutely love Laura Claycombe and Inger Dam-Jensen's performance of this, but hers is right up there. Her voice reminds me a bit of a boy soprano -- so clear and ethereal. Absolutely wonderful to listen to.
@mariannamouse I love Simone's voice too. I find it an interesting analogy to sounding a bit like a boy soprano. I did an experiment with one of her songs and lowered it a few semitones and I could swear she sounded like a countertenor!
thank you very much for this video, i just love handel, especially giulio cesare, have you seen the performance she gave on villa medici? she sang this area there - her acting is outstanding!
Great Simone! I love this aria so much. She has this something in her voice, once sharp, the other time soft. She will be one one of the greatest, she is on the way. And I love that she doesn't want to be "sweet" soprano as most of young sopranos want to. Different, like Bartoli. Check Laura Claycombin this aria. So different, but I adore her interpretation.
Thank you so much this wonderful piece of music. i've loved listening to Handel for a long time and this rendition is one of the nicest ones i've heard in a long time.
there is something very soulful about her voice that makes it so unique! I heard this while looking for other Handel arias! I wonder what she would sound like singing Jazz.
Wow! Thanks a million for sharing this gem! I so wish I could get my hands on her Handel recital. Alas, it's almost impossible to find it where I live. This rendition is fantastic and I'm so glad Kermes recorded it. Now, she just needs to record (or, at least, sing live) Da Tempeste. That would be absolute bliss!
And I can't understand, that someone is so plugged-in... I don't want to listen to the old stuff all the time, I'm happy, that there are new musicians with new interpretations... So I think, she hasn't a much more sour voice than for example Angela Gheorghiu, which is one of your favourites... Far from it! I think she has a very soft and also dramatic voice... But, how it is also mentioned in Latin: "De gustibus non est disputandum..."
I agree, some singers of the past were great and they cant be fogortten but the show must go on!! sometimes those "ghosts from the past have a very negative and castrating influence in the current opera scene.
it's heavenly: i want to die with this music playing
thank you very much!

What recording is this from? It's gorgeous. I have her Vivaldi albums and they are amazing.

I am not conviced even if she is an interessant musician. The voice is sour.
