  • I still come back to watch these videos! lol That swimming pool comment gets me every time.

    :-)

  • Thank you sooo much. I knew my hair felt different when I used Dr Bonner's. I was going to stop using it as of today. Your demonstration confirmed it further for me. Your channel is so in formative. On another note; I wonder why citrus and baking soda are suggested as home remedies for UTIs. Those products are used to decrease your Ph levels, but in your test they actually increase your Ph levels. (maybe I have it backwards).

  • Thank you for these videos! I sat here and what the whole series! Very educational! Although I wish I would have seen that video about the baking soda and apple cidar vinegar a few weeks ago! I, like a dummy, went off of the word of someone else and that ish burned like the pits of hell, literally. I will never do that again especially since watching your videos! I'm so glad I've subscribed to you. I'm focusing on the health of my hair these days and your videos are very helpful!

  • Dearest Kim, I almost burnt my food in the oven watching your hair basic clips. Meaning they are awesome! I send a hug to you!

    :)

  • I am a licensed Cosmetologist for 20 yrs n i know all the science makes sence to us but for many its just hair . I too educate my guests so there better equipped to understand their hair i support the education thanks.

  • Kim thank you so much Now I know why my hair is so frizzy and no real curl pattern, I wish you would put together a dvd trying to watch all your vids are time consuming. But I love your work I've learned so much about my hair. Thanks again

  • I am so happy u hav information on this..i hav been really tryna figure out the whole PH thing..im still kind of confused but i will def strt doin my research...i jus subscribed to u! thanks again for the info

  • This is something I have never thought about. Now for the question. Do I just place these strips in any of the products I use to test the pH?

  • Sister, thank you for all of y our hard work and dedication. I appreciate you and your efforts.

  • lmao at the swimming pool comment !

  • this may sound like a silly question, but I think this is why I'm a little confused, but isn't it actually the other way around? the lemon and vinegar lowered the ph of water?

  • wow and 4oz of water is how much is in my spray bottle, to think i thought juicing 1/8 of a lemon was diluted enough...i thought i wasn't putting enough. now i know its way too much

  • very very informative. right before i was about to use dr bronners soap to wash my hair! lol its nice to know this stuff.

  • Where can I buy the Machrey-nagel ph stripes? Thank you. lol

  • Awesome information. Thank you for taking the time to teach others! You're the best :)

  • ThANKS FOR THE TIME, EFFORT, AND RESEARCH YOU PUT INTO THESE VIDEOS THEY ARE VERY HELPFUL. and being a science major i'm alway all about proof and finding out how things happen even a the molecular level so thanks! p.s...Demonstrative videos are always best!

  • Thank a lot! This was a lot of great information!!

You mentioned that 1/4 teaspoons of lemon juice in 4 ounces of water is too acidic. Can you tell me how much lemon juice to put in 4 ounces of water to make it safe enough for hair? I'm having a hard time finding pH strips and I can't afford to buy them from your website due to Canadian shipping charges. Please help!

    - Tasha

  • I am learning so much! I'm wondering how to relate this information to relaxed hair?

  • Can you combine the lemon juice w/the Dr. B's to even o/the ph levels? If so, how much wld be safe?

  • ????? not get it

  • Great video....I was wondering why my hair would feel so weird n dry after using my homemade Dr.Bronners shampooo mix. Will not do that anymore. Do have any suggestions of shampoos I can purchase.

  • Excellent video. I never use any of these products on my hair, however, it is great to know the "truth" about the PH Balance of these products. I have seen people on You Tube naturals using some of these products and it never registered in my spirit to use them. I did order a couple of products from your website tonight and am looking forward to watching more of your videos. God bless you in your success.

  • People use to tell me my hair was different, rough, tough, thick blah blah blah, I pretty much treated my hair like it wasn't hair, if that makes sense. I'm going to school for nursing and I've taken biology classes and chemistry classes so I already knew most of the things that you are teaching. Since I was young people made me feel like my hair wasn't really hair and it was resistant to everything. Not sure how to explain it. Let just say I am now treating my TWA a lot more gently. Thx Kimmay!

  • what types of things that are already liquid are good for testing for pH? Could u give me about 10?

  • I am so happy I never jumped on the bandwagon of using those products although I will admit I used lemon juice (about one cup :-0) in my henna mixture. No more! I knew something was fishy about castel soaps when I researched them online and found you can make them at home with olive oil and LYE! I bought a large bottle and eventually used it for dish detergent. Although I had some knowledge about the basic structure of hair I never paid attention to Ph Balance. I will now. Thank you Kim!

  • First message. Hello I found your video quit enlightning. Im confused in some respect in regards to baking soda. I live in houston tx. I Love HAIR and the care of it. I may by accident delute the baking soda. Tell me what you think. This is how and why i would use it. If I have a caucasian client or a person with slip to their hair and they swim. Trust me their hair will do nothing if I dont treat the chlorine sitting in the hair. The hair is like trash.

  • know what your hair and body likes. Personally i have used organic apple cider vinegar internally and on my hair, for years. I love it and my hair loves it. Dr. bonners soap on the other hand my hair did not respond well to. So i am left with a big bottle. lol. As a herbalist i have learned with all things it is how well your hair likes a product. The same goes for the food we eat and the medicine we take.

  • omg thanks wheww!!! so 4.0-7.0 is a good range for products to put on our hair so if i have a moisturizer and the ph is 9.0 should i diluted? anyone can answer me but i will dilute it tomorrow to see anyway because i did purchase the ph strips and that was the faster service ever thanks.

  • Thank you so much or the science behind this. I have Cathy Howse and Chicoras books and will go back and reread them. Not only am I learning to care for my newly natural hair (one year now), I a also learning how to properly care or my two daughters hair ( 7 and 10).

In one of your videos you mentioned a book. I will definitely buy one if you publish it!!!

Thanks for taking the time to educate and empower. You truly are a blessing to others!!!

  • I appreciate the experimental analysis. I've never EVER thought of using Dr. Bronner's in my hair. I've recently started using the mild unscented soap as a substitute to scented products on my skin and it has alleviated my dry skin. My skin has never felt more smooth and moisturized. Interestingly enough hair, skin and nails are all modifications of the same origin (skin being the origin). I guess if all else fails I can still sparingly use my remaining Dr. Bronner's as a skin exfoliator.

  • thank u so much for this video! So many of us are using these products incorrectly. Thank God I haven't tried Dr. Bronners soap, I so wanted too!

  • Oh man! Not the Doc Bronners!! The label says it has 18 uses which is good, because that stuff will never touch my hair again.

Hello Giovanni, Good bye Doc. Bronners.

    ~~GTL2010~~

"Just as iron sharpens iron; so does one sister sharpen another."

  • Hello! I have realized that I need to make a change in my hair care and learning more about pH and hair care is what I will try now.... thanks! P.S. I will be purchasing your DVD whenever it is completed. Thanks again!

  • wow thanks and i was just about to try that dr.bonners stuff thanks for that video even though i do not fully understand it but great information for some reason i had the expression that because it was natural it was okay for the hair but i will not use it thanks for educated me on the ph balance!

  • Aw, Dr. Bronners, :(. I love the Peppermint soap, it does relax my curls so that I can comb through easily when trying to cleanse my scalp. What about the scalp, though? Does it harm that as well? I always condition after using Dr. Bronners, but I must admit, I do notice a relaxed version of my curls when I'm done. Didn't think it to be damaging, though. Great video! :).

  • Please forgive my last comment...apply cider is not bad for the hair..simply use 1 part apple cider to 100 parts water which raises the ph from 3.0pH to 4.0pH...i got it now

  • just to clarify the AVC situation...

1ml of Apple Cyder Vinegar would then be appropriate to add to 100 ml of water correct?

  • Love, love, love your videos. It definitely shows your dedication to the subject of natural hair and just overall hair care! I believe as black women we should always take care of ourselves because it shows a level of pride and self confidence in ourselves. You have definitely helped to contribute to that! Thank you!

I will be testing out a couple of things in my bathroom cabinet!

  • Do you know the pH of Oyin Handmades leave-in conditioner (Honey Hemp)?

  • wow!! … thanks for the info … I've been doing the baking soda conditioner at most once a month … I am done with that!! …And I have already dumped dr. B since 2 years now … that stuff totally dried my hair out to like a brillo pad … hahahha … now I have found my favorite product KCCC and my hair is growing and feels soft and "Healthy". … Please tell me what would be a good mix of water to ACV. Thank you.

  • I lllloooovvvvveeee this vid because It totally exolains what the heck is wrong with my hair. I would tryout these remedies bc someone said its good to clarify your with "nat products" such as acv or lemon juice rinses. I now know better. I thought I was just weird-but my hair is already prone to extreme dryness and these products make my hair break off eventually. This year has been "trial and error" -as my fiance says, and I have lost about 6inches of hair due to crazy experiments!!!!

  • Wow...this video is so empowering. Thank you so much for presenting this video!

  • Lol! I love the swimming pool joke! I'm getting me those strips!

  • wow thanks for bringing this to my attention. and i love that you use science to back it up, rather than hear say.

  • This is so awsome! I am in transition from a relaxer. I browse through youtube and other blogging websites to gain knowledge on how to care for my natural hair. I am so glad that I found this information before I start spending money on items that could damage my hair. I will definitely be investing in some ph strips. I''ve been a hairstylist for 15 yrs. Kimmay, I can honetly say, you brought the basics of hair chemisty back! Thank you for working so hard to get the knowledge out to the public.

  • You are FIESTY! Thank you. Let each one, teach one responsibly!

  • BLACK HAIR ENCYCLOPEDIA b.k.a KIMMAYTUBE

  • So do you still do the apple cider rinse?

  • Oh NO!!! Damn you Dr Bronner's! :( lmao dang I should've known something was wrong because of how it dried the crap outta my hair, no wonder people dilute this so much (and it's still drying) D: I HAVE to get some PH strips now, much respect for your hard work watching your vids is definitely an eye-opening experience.

  • Hi Kimmay, got my strips yesterday and been testing everything in site! LOL! Girl, I feel like a mad scientist. LOL! Thanks for all you do. I re-read Dr. Bonners directions which clearly states "it does not cut dirt, but dissolves it." So, if you can clean your house and wash your clothes with it - it probably isn't good to use on your hair (my conclusion). So now it's strictly to clean with. P.S. Thanks for my Aha moment. ;-) And I tell everyone about your channel.

  • Has anyone tested the pH balance of henna?

  • This ph stuff is serious, i was thinkiing of dyeing my hair worried about the drying effect in line with ph facts dyes are quite alkaline. They are this way because the cause the hair to swell so the medulla part of the hair can absorb the dye.

  • Kimmay, thanx so much. Most of us don't know nor even think about the ph balance of products. Still, this lack of knowledge does our hair damage. So thanx thanx thanx for being the voice calling out in the night and the keeper at the gates of healthy hair for those of us who, though we have not the mind to conceive, we do have the ears to hear and the heart to achieve. So on behalf of all of us thanx thanx thanx!

  • LMBO!!!! A drop of the Dr. Bronners in a swimming pool!!!!! That was funny Kimmay! I think I see stand-up comedy in your future:)

  • @AdamsRib84 , you can also calculate how much water you need to bring the solution of shampoo and water to a desired ph. :)

  • @Sadiyatou Thanks:) I just recently started using the ph strips and I really love them!

  • @AdamsRib84 I am gonna get some myself :)

  • You don't really need to test the ph of the diluted solution if you know the ph of the concentrated solution and the dilution factor :)

  • Oh my goodness, thank you so much for this video. I never really paid much attention to the ph of anything before, and I recently bought a sample of Dr. Bronner's soap that I've been using on my hair for a few weeks now, and I will not be using it again, I had no idea how important ph was. I'll probably have to invest in some of those strips.....thanks again!

  • Thank you, for everything. This is a very thought provoking channel. I have never been disappointed. I appreciate all of your hard work in getting the truth out about our hair. I constantly learn new things. Your channel has inspired me to do more research on my own. I also thank you for Luv Naturals. You are very professional and expedient. I really appreciate what you are doing. Again thank you.

  • Hi Kimm

I really enjoy your videos. so informative.

I use dr bronners castille soap because thats what my mother always used on our hair and skin(baths). Anywho My question is is it possible to add lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to the soap to bring down the ph levels? (Or that just too much?)

I am going to miss your hair maintenance videos.. But I will continue to look forward to whatever you continue to do....PEACE and Love

  • continuing: I've been reading Chicoro's book and intend to purchase the Howse book as well to further my knowledge on caring for my hair. Kim, your wealth of information is tremendous and I thank you for providing it to us.

FYI: in my henna mixtures I once used pure lemon juice and my hair was fried (this is before my newfound pH knowledge)... ladies, henna does not need teas or lemon or orange juice to release the dye. Simple H2O or even olive oil and patience will release the dye.

  • @LhoreBaby

Awesome!! Thank you so much for being considerate enough to leave an update that others may find useful. I depend on you all as well because I will never think I am "all knowing". That isn't how one remains a "lifetime learner". :-)

Glad to hear that the pH strips are arming you with info to help better manage your products. There is NO question how important pH balance has been to my hair routine. I have predictable hair. Smoother ends & moisture rentention. Always.

  • @kimmaytube I even purchased an electronic scale as well... SMH. Hey I figure if it's working for you, why not give it a try for myself. I intend to try your leave in as well. I've been checking every single hair care item I own just to see the pH of it. Amazes me how most condish's are acidic (average of pH 5). I want to add aloe vera juice to almost everything now just to make it more hair friendly... LOL! Thanks again.

  • @LhoreBaby Howse's book is 100 times more informative and straight to the point.

  • @LhoreBaby I use aloe vera juice to mix up my henna. I've been hennaing for three years with great results.

  • I wanted to update my previous post on the use of black soap and pH balance. After receiving my pH strips, I decided to test the soap and saw that the pH was around 10-11. This would explain the softness and pliability of my hair after washing. Knowledge is power!!! I am now in the process of formulating a black soap shampoo that is pH balanced so that I don't take my hair on that roller coaster! The effects of pH never registered until I re-watched these videos!

  • Hi Kim: In a prior vid you mentioned that you have had success with taking out hair knots/tangles with a rat tail comb. Do you think you can do a tutorial on this in the future? Thanks!

  • im your first buyer if and when you come out with your own hair products, i appreciate you putting your time into this its very beneficial, GO GIRL!

  • so if you have porous hair could you use castille soup to balance it out??

  • no wonder my hair didn't feel good using French Perm Stabilizer Plus! it's ph is like 2.5 or something, and i'd use it weekly! i haven't had as much breakage sense then either... hmm...

  • Love your videos! thank you so much and your hair is beautiful! When are you going to start selling products on your site?

  • Love this! How would i test my hair on a PH strip? I am sure you have a video... I'll go check, lol...

  • thanks Kim, very informative. Now to find a shampoo that is ph balanced for my hair. I am currently in the baby loc stage (1 month). What to do, what to do? LOL!

  • This is great! I use ACV on my hair: 1 tsp to 1 liter of warm water. I still think I need to check the pH on that...But I'm glad to know my instints were right on diluting it so much! I'll prbably get the same results I desire with 1/2 tsp to 1 Liter...Can never be too careful......Even with so much water.....the ACV smell is still very very strong!

  • THANK YOU AS ALWAYS!!!! DO YOU THINK ADDING ALOE VERA JUICE TO YOUR DR. BRONNERS WOULD BRING THAT PH DOWN ENUFF??????

  • Hi Kimmaytube! I really enjoyed this video. I have watched the entire series and found it extremely informative. Thanks a lot for the time and effort you put into them. A good solid foundation to learn about haircare and what products may do to the hair. Many thanks x

  • Thanks for this information. I have read various natural hair information discussing the positive aspects of these ingredients. I'm glad you took the time to center your results around knowledge. Knowledge is power! :)

  • Thanks for this information. I have read various natural hair information discussing the positive aspects of these ingredients. I'm glad you took the time to center your results around knowledge. Knowledge is power! :)

  • thanks so much. because of your fine research, i started to question things on my own and stop accepting what folk said just because they're natural. much love to you.

  • Thanks for using your resources to inform of us in this bonus video.

  • This is funny because i learned this in chemistry couple weeks ago the whole acid bases business so i kina know what youre talking about ;)

  • Wowwww love you kim! :)

  • I love your videos, especially the ones where you take that extra effort to educate viewers on the acidic levels we should be aware of and how we can stay clear of them. The use of the litmus strips is ingenious. I am working on my B.S. degree in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology so the use of science in my natural hair care regimen is very dear to me. Thanks for the vids and keep up the great work. Peace

  • Thanks for the bonus video, Kim, as well as imparting some proof and evidence about baking soda, ACV, lemon juice, and Dr. Bronners. I never used any of those items in my hair, but I see them mentioned VERY often on natural hair blogs and forums. Thank you so much for using scientific facts to help educate us all on natural hair. As a graduate in Biology, I loved your use of pH strips as well. :)

  • @cielosorasky

Thanks! You know, I keep mentioning Cathy Howse (author of Ultra Black Hair Growth II) but I have to give credit where credit is due. I *never* paid attention or considered the pH of my products until after reading her book. It truly was an Aha moment for me. Although the damaging nature of relaxers has always been hotly debated, the "natural hair community" never seemed to focus on the factor of pH & how that same science applied to EVERYTHING! My pleasure to inform. :o)

  • lol and this is why when i was using a 2:1 water to ACV mixture my hair felt fragile ... bum bum bummmmmmm....

Does anyone have a favorite in shower deep conditioner that they would recommend? I havent found my perfect fit yet. I have the perfect shampoo, perfect leave-in, perfect spritz etc etc blah blah but havent found MY in shower conditioner yet and im open to suggestions :) thanks ahead of time

Thanks again for the pertinent info Kimmay :::curtsy::::

  • i'm gonna miss my Dr. Bronner's :'(

  • Awesome video and very informative. :-)

  • Oh, and if anybody is going to throw away their dr. bronner's, please ship it to me, and I will pay shipping through paypal. PM me. I'm a soapmaker and I can titrate that stuff into usable shampoo for my family.

  • Love this video!

  • What is the pH of 2 oz of Dr. Bronners Baby mild formula and 2 oz of Aloe vera juice?

  • excellent, will have to invest! x

  • Hi Kim, I am a new You Tuber and you are my very 1st subscription thus my first comment too. I have been watching your videos for a couple of weeks now here in the UK, and I must say I am somewhat impressed! You are so informative and I have learnt so much from you in a very short period of time. I went natural 18 months ago, I braced myself and did the big chop. I have to "thank you", as you've taught me how to take care of my beautiful hair correctly! I'll stay tuned in eager anticipation.

  • ooh giiiiiiiiirl you know you probably made some people mad with this one!

    Great video!

  • ooh giiiiiiiiirl you know you proubably made some people made with this one!

    Great video!

  • kim... whenI use the lemon juice mixed with water, do I need to rince it out?? Thank you for your answer.

  • Thanks for the informative video. I realize I need to use less ACV when I rinse

  • Thanks kimmy. You rock! Dude! I always miss ur contests. Congradulations on finding something you love doing, your really good at it.

  • this has helped so so much!! thank you! you are a blessing

  • great video!!!!!

  • Hi Kim! Love your videos, and I can't wait to pick up my package from Luvnaturals at the post office. Anyway, this is great info, but I am concerned about my hen-digo treatments that I do every 6 months. Since lemon juice is too acidic, should I use just orange juice then? Will the dye release if I only use water? I apologize in advance if you've already answered this question.

  • @JGT318

No, I have not answered any questions about henna. I'm constantly asked.

To be honest with you, I have little interest in henna, I only have a basic understanding of how it works. You should google "Dr. Olga Engelhardt lemon juice" for a comparison test that was done showing how lemon juice does little to nothing for dye release, actually quite the opposite.

  • @JGT318

Henna will dye release w/ just water. You really don't need anything acidic for to it to do so. When I used to henna, my dye would release within an hour w/ water.

  • @JGT318 I've hennaed using only water and it does impart color. My last henna session I used hibiscus tea to impart some burgandy color, it worked wonderfully.

  • This is soooo true! I used to wonder why my hair would be so dry and my scalp felt tight after my apple cider rinses. After about 3 rinses, I bought a bottle of Kinky Curly's come clean shampoo and it feels so much better. I still get that clean feeling without the dryness and itchyness.

  • Kimmay you are about as thorough as they come. Thank you for the information.

  • People been challenging you on your pH vids? There's nothing to challenge, it's science. Oh well with people sometimes I've learned.

  • hey kimmay, how do you test the pH of your hair if the hair is a solid?

  • Thanks Kim, this really opened my eyes. I had no idea I was doing so much damage to my hair and my daughters hair. This really gives me a great foundation to understanding what our hair needs and how to grow and retain healthy hair. Also, I've been wearing protective styles for 2 weeks now, so I can't wait to see my growth.I even bought the banana clips and head bands. Thanks for the tips. One question however, I do you know if your hair needs protein? I've never used protein conditioners.

  • BRAVO, you've very well, thank you for your research.

  • Thank you so much, I threw away my Dr. Bronners, and I'm testing everything now with my strips. My hair looks healthier, shinier, and weirdly enough darker from using your leave in recipe. And it maintains moisture longer. You are truly a blessing, and a wealth of information.

  • Thanks so much for sharing this information! I'm still on the hunt for a new shampoo after seeing what you shared about Dr. Bronners Castile Soap. Even black soap is highly alkaline 0_0! I really value the information you provide. It's raised the bar and made me ask a lot of questions when it comes to my hair (and skin) care. THANKS!

  • I EMAILED YOU WITH A QUESTION ABOUT USING LEMON JUICE IN MY HAIR,,,IF I USE LESS THAN A 1/4 MIXED WITH 8 OUNCES OF WATER...CAN I WET MY HAIR WITH THAT AND RE TWIST MY HAIR....NOT RINSING IT OUT... I HAVE BEEN DOING YOUR WATER MOISTURE AND TWIST PROTECTIVE STYLES FOR A MONTH... I AM LOVING MY HAIR

  • Great vid as usual!!! When is that dvd going 2 be available? I can't wait to get it.

  • THANK YOU for this Kimmay. I have never used any of this stuff in my hair except Dr. Bronners. What's funny is I have another brand of Castile Soap that I bought cuz it was cheaper than Bronner's and it says PH balanced, but I guess I should test it to make sure. Dr. Bronners does NOT say PH balanced, so whatever I have left of it I'll just use as a household cleaner. Thanks 4 the knowledge!!!

  • Kimmaytube, have you ever heard of alkaline water (for drinking)

  • very informational as always thank you very much for sharing the knowledge! peace and love to you!!

  • Thanks so much for doing this vid! Very informative. I tried that Dr. Bronners soap and HATED it bc it left my hair hard and with a nasty film on it. Just couldnt understand what the "RAVE" was about that soap. BTW whats ur take on bentonite clay? Used it once mixed w/jojoba and peppermint oil and my hair felt super clean and (dare I say it lol) ~soft~

  • YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN, THANKS!

  • The acid of the lemon juice makes a lot of sense. Lemon juice is used to get rid of parasites in the stomach and body becuase it makes for a very acid environment which parasites can not live in:)

  • Thanks for the info

  • Very helpful! I would have torn my hair apart with my first Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse tomorrow, just in time. Hair saving video, as always. Thanks Kim!

  • Thank you so much for this video. I've been using Dr. Bronner's soap on my hair for a while now and I love the way it makes my hair feel but that obviously does not mean that it is beneficial to my hair. Thanks once again.

  • Very enlightening as usual! thank you so much for your time and all the valuable information. It is so important.

  • @mysskay I'd like to know where you got your "facts" from. As a pharmacy major, I know that if two miscible liquids are mixed, once they reach equilibrium they will stay at equilibrium. And it's better to test after they have had time to reach the equilibrium point. If she tested right away, she may get a portion that had a higher concentration of either the solvent (water) or the solute (lemon juice, for example), leading to an inaccurate result.

  • @mysskay And I'm if I offended you or anyone else in anyway, but that just doesn't seem like sound, factual advice to me. And that fact that Kimmay's channel is all about the facts is what I love about her channel.

  • Kimmay, I LOVE your videos. I did my BC a month ago and am still experimenting with products.

I've been using shampoo bars by Karen's Body Beautiful and Chagrin Valley Soap and Craft Co since I BCed. After watching your Structure of Hair series, I've decided that I should probably test their pH. Is this possible sine they are not liquid? Would putting some of the lather on a test strip work? Or dissolving some of the soap in a glass of water like you did in this video? TIA.

  • @TheElbernitaFan

You can try dissolving a piece of the soap into water (make sure the water is 7.0pH) it may work. I don't know.

But it is important to know that pH test trips can only test liquids.

That is the only way to get a reaction from the paper.

  • Good to know.

  • Thanks for this video and keeping it real. Hair is sensitive to a lot of us and knowing the facts instead of the myths is a great help with this natural journey! Your tuck and roll has been one of my protective styles and has been really helping my hair stay moisturized and retaining some length, what more could a girl want...... LOL Thanks for all the wonderfully researched and well put together information it has definitely helped me!

  • Quite informative; facts that can't be disputed. I think that you should have been a chemistry professor / teacher!

  • OMG!! No more dr bronner;s soap for me!! I guess I'll use it as washing detergent. Thanks so much for the info. I love your channel!!

  • Awww kimmy you're videos have been a god send, ur shampooing and detangling method works like a charm with a few minor adjustments to my hair and your suggestion of aloe vera juice is SOOO predictable it makes my hair super soft (like I have never seen before) and super shiny. Yup SHINE who wud have thunck it??? Thanks Kimmy I cant stop suggesting your methods to every natural i know. keep up the good work!!!

  • after one year of being natural my ends are brittle. Thanks to you I doing protective styling. Some people have commented they prefer me wearing the fro, but I'm about retaining hair grow. Oh, well. :)

  • Excellent Video!!! Thank You:)

  • Another great vid! Seriously, this Ph series has been so informative. I learned so much. Thanks!

  • Thanks again Kimmay! Just curious exactly how much water did you use? The caramel treatment calls for ACV and I would like to keep the mixture in a safe for hair pH range. Seeing as 1/4:100 parts equals 4.0 pH I would like to know what 100 parts is actually measured at. Thanks again. Can't wait for you DVD to come out!

  • I thank God for you! I really appreciate your devotion to hair education. I love to seek out knowledge of how to better care for our hair, but it would have taken me YEARS to figure out what you've learned about pH balance. THANK YOU!!

I love your energy and style and have thoroughly enjoyed all of your vid! Keep up the good work!!!

  • excellent info!! I will be retiring mr dr. bronners solution

  • I tried Dr. Bronners on my hair ONCE years ago (10 yrs?) - and it made my hair feel like crap. Very dry. But so many other people swore by it, I thought I was doing something wrong. I stopped using it, but I don't question my judgment after seeing your pH videos. Thanks so much!

  • My son has eczema so I looked on the internet to find out about making home made shampoo; after a few clicks I found there was a lot of talk about Bicarbonate of soda..........

I washed his hair with it and it seemed clean but it was not soft at all.........not any more!

    Thanks!

  • This video and many more are so helpful. I am interested in making a ACV however I am clueless what measurements to use. Can you tell me how much water and how much acv? Please? Thank you so much and Godbless you :)

  • I love this information. It's always good to know more than just "what to do to your hair." It's most important to know "why you should do things to your hair." When I went natural I chose to no longer put stuff in my hair that people would just push me to buy. I take the time to get to know the products and their ingredients. Now I can step my game up to checking the pH levels. Thanks for the vid!

  • this video came right on time...i was tempted to purchase dr. bronner's this morning. thank goodness i didn't waste my money.

  • Your videos on pH balance always scare me straight! Lol and I mean that in the best way possible. All of the items you mentioned, I no longer use on my hair, but I still use Dr Bronner's soap for my skin (I can't let it go to waste). Thanks for the info.

  • I need to get strips to test some of my everyday products. It's funny that the products you mentioned either left my hair coated or dried out. Even if they were working for others, when my hair started acting strange, I left the product. Looks like I avoided further damage. Thanks for the informative vid.

By the way, The strip company sounds French. I think the pronunciation is (Mah-cherry) (Na-jel) :]

  • @umkish

Nope. it's a German- French company. That's exactly how they pronounce it.

  • @kimmaytube

    You learn something new. Thanks.

  • A+++ as usually:)

  • Thanks for this updated video I use Dr Bronners on my body daily hair sometimes so after watching your video last week I switched back to using Giovanni on my last hair wash and what a huge difference I think I will use Dr Bronners as a household cleansers bcuz I used it to clean my shower and the results were amazing fyi I went to Whole Foods (my fav store) and purchased a few items veg glycerine jason dandruff shampoo na-pca moisturizing spray for the skin...you have great videos

  • Another enjoyable video and I appreciate you helping me to understand the structure of my own hair. The ph tests are great because I didn't know how IMPORTANT ph balance really was. Thank, thank, thank you for all the HELPFUL important information. I made you leave-in conditioner and I love it. It makes my soooooo soft. All day long my hair feels so moisturized and soft. Don't stop informing us.

  • I won't use Dr. Bronner's on my hair anymore after your videos. I bought it recently and used it twice so far.

I'm quite sure it's a fine to use as regular soap though and that's it's primary function.

  • You always give great info to think about. Thanks!

  • Kim I have a question: I love love love my aloe vera juice, however when i mix aloe vera juice with water and use it on my hair.. it make my scalp itch. I had use this mix after i wash my hair, and it still made my scalp itch.. I even use a raw aloe vera gel from a leaf in my hair and it too made my scalp itch. I am torn, because i have used a dilute acv mix with water and my hair loved it. But i love how my curls pop with the aloe vera juice..

  • @CurlyTrini87

You may be allergic to it. It's always important to keep in mind that you're supposed to experiment and find what works for you. The info is shared as a general guideline to aid you in your personal search for the best products for your hair. . What works for me will not always work for you. Vice versa. This is why I'm hesitant to make a "my favorite products video" because it applies to my experience.

  • oooh..u made is so much clear..

  • Thanks so much KimmayTube. This video taught me alot about my rinses. My hair doesnt feel damaged at all but I have been using a mixture of lemon/acv rinse on my hair now I know to leave the lemon out and just add a small amt of acv.

  • its funny how you speak so clearly, inform us on a level so rudimentary that a child can understand it...you basically put the hay down where the goats can get it & and people still... constantly misunderstand you lol thanks for not giving up though!

  • @dumbdumdditty

Thanks for your comment. It is appreciated! :o)

  • Awesome job Kimmay!

I'm so glad I didn't pick up the Dr. Bronner's soap up from Trader Joes the other day. I'm starting to collect products in anticipation for my BC lol. I know it's too early, but I'm soo excited!

I'll be tuning into your fav products videos for recommendations as well. :)

  • Thumbs up!

  • thanks again for the good info

  • Great video!

Just wondering will conditioners have a pH number since there not exactly a liquid? And, if so does the safety standard raise or fall for conditioners?

  • @presuchz21

    Conditioners are liquids. :o)

  • @kimmaytube To add to that question, I was wondering if henna mixes could be tested or is it too thick and pasty? By the way, do you henna? .....And thanks for another great video!
