I like you Mr Wallerstein,I have your book about The Origins of Capitalist Agriculture since The 16th C,as for America-The C.I.A peadophiles and their english counterpart capitalist dogs have spied on us for 14years,we don't want American Imperialism, more people feel that! Our Parents said before I was 10yrs old "Americans ARE ALWAYS POKING THEIR NOSE WHERE IT'S NOT WANTED!" along with Asian and Jewish Imperialism,we HAVE NOT GOT TO TAKE IT! FREE WORLD NOW DOWN WITH CAPITULATION and ABUSE!
I don't get how this video only has 19,000 views.. The other 100 million+ youtube views don't have a clue as to why the United States is under a financial crisis. Wallerstein clearly explains everything.

"Here at home and throughout the world people are fighting back against the forces of wealth, privilege and militarism — some because they have no choice, others because they would choose no other course but the one that leads to peace and justice." — Michael Parenti
I've been reading some of Wallerstein's essays from the late 90's and early 2000s and his accuracy in predicting some events is impressive. We're about to see if the dollar collapse actually occurs, as well as the bubble created by the government bailouts and the new geopolitical alliances...
I appreciate this mans insight as well as straight forward analysis. One important thing to remember in this whole equation is our environment degradation. Economics based on using and wasting our natural resources, is quickly exhausting the basis of our whole planets economic model. Central banks controlling finance on a world scale causing indebtedness between countries needs to end. Then and only then can we extract our selves from this vicious cycle of bubbles. No more PRIVATE BANKS!!!!
@thecisco666 Wallerstein has notthing to do with the Zeitgeist movement. It seems to me that Wallerstein would not support that movement, because Zeitgeist believes that technology can resolve all the problems we have, and Wallerstein never says that. In fact, Wallerstein is against "productivism" and all that ideology.
@InToonamIsLegacy Hell no. Canada is way better off. It doesn't recklessly print money and its deficit is way lesser. It can depend on its agricultural sector unlike US, which mainly depends on its manufacturing sector. Too bad now all its manufacturing jobs are all outsourced.
@InToonamIsLegacy Hell no. Canada is way better off. It doesn't reckless print money and its deficit is way lesser. It can depend on its agricultural sector unlike US, which mainly depends on its manufacturing sector. Too bad now all its manufacturing jobs are all outsourced."
this is coming after capitalistic world ::: equalistic united humanity order , all world going to unite as one world place, all countries going to be destroyed as one. all wealth of the world going to be divided and distributed equally to all humans. every thing going to be integratingly planned. main focus of humans going to be on inside awaekening, spiritual enligtenment, universal conciousness... materialistic competitions going to finish...
Not having read his works or considerd his accomplishments, this interview would be less interesting...though it is very deep and worth listening. Most of all, his charactor is fascinating . I have read his works but never seen his speaking like this. wow I am liking him at same degree as I like his work.
All this bourgeois "spheres of influence" and etc is such nonsense.
Capitalism doesnt work! It is simple math. CCCP will be reconstituted, the German revolution will be victorious and shortly thereafter all Europe will be liberated from captialist tyranny and we can forget about all this "poles of power" and etc BS!
Just so u know, the same families [more or less] that ruled over the Roman Empire, rules the Western, African & Middle Eastern Empires now. The Empires fall but those who create & direct them go on fooling the rest of us into thinking we r free.
If u r lucky enough to know an Economists that has maintained any Stately &/or Multi-Corporate accounts, they can tell u with whom the buck ends & has always ended.
Obama has enlisted the same cast of criminals to fix the problem as had Bush, the same Wall Street speculators and thugs who created the debacle in the first place and who are now plundering the public purse, robbing taxpayers and creating trillions in public debt that will never be repaid. In the seventeenth century speculators such as this were executed. Today they are rewarded with taxpayer dollars to bail them out. Go figure?
The problem is power. We can not give up our powerlessness unless we give up our need for power. The system reflects the individual and the individual reflects the system.
As long as capitalism remains the dominant mode of production, a return to 19th/20th century inter-imperialist rivalry (the catalyst of both world wars) *does* seem inevitable.
The alternative is for the US to move back to what it is supposed to be, a Republic. Freedom, limited government, and so forth. none of this nation building nonsense, more manufacturing to increase the value of our dollars, personal liberty. you know, all the things that made us great.
Perhaps socialism works, but almost everyone in the US is afraid of it, and if the US becomes a socialist country, the power would just remain with the people who did this in the first place. We should have a democracy. A real democracy that lets its people choose its laws and control the economy. Now we can only vote for the people who are going to steal from us.
@subjer0 Exactly!! The reason that the 'socialism charge doesn't work is because it's not applicable. And so it's not effective. Corporatism is much more apt a term. Socialism is when the government controls the companies and means of production. Corporatism is worse. It's the opposite situation. The corporations are in control of government. At least in socialism there is the idea that the government's serve the people. In corporatism the taxpayers pay for the profits of corporations.
They are the poster boy for Religious Extremism, there is not an ounce of democracy in S.A yet only Israel receives more financial and military aid from the United States than Saudi Arabia.
Still though the US hasn't tried to democratize either of those countries.
They key thing to remember is the US tries to democratize countries that do not have US interests above their own whether they are dictatorships or democracies.
"What will happen to the arab world especially after the US has tried to democratize arab countries?"
Since when has the US tried to democratize arab countries? Egypt and Saudi Arabia are 2 of Americas biggest allies yet they are no definitely not democracies.
Egypt have banned political opposition for years now; their President Hosni Mubarak has has been reelected for the last 4 terms winning 99.9% in each election and inherited power from his father much like a monarch would.
Do not put all Jews to one basket. The same applies to other nations Poles, Russians etc.
It was a very open, balanced as well insightful interview.
And if you mean grabbing land, water, property from Palestinians at the same time threating them like animals the world community some day will judge the nation as a whole.
And what's incorrect about what he's saying? "Oh, God he's Jewish, therefore he's a Zionist shill." Ralph Nader would probably agree with everything here. Are you gonna call him a Zionist? Where is one thing this guy said that makes him suspect except his name which sets off your irrational prejudice? I'm not familiar with this guy, so I can't say anything about him, but YOUR user name coupled with your comment tells me everything I need to know about where you draw your conclusions from.
we welcome your take over but in the meantime, can I have 1 egg fried rice, 2 chicken chow mein, and 2 egg foo yung. and i want it in 10 merrit. thankyou
In recent years, Jews around the world have been voicing anxious concern over the specter of anti-Semitism in the lands of the former Soviet Union. In this new and uncertain era, we are told, suppressed feelings of hatred and rage against Jews most Russians wanted all Jews to leave the country.4 But precisely why is anti-Jewish sentiment so widespread among the peoples of the former Soviet Union? Why do so many Russians, Ukrainians, Lithuanians and others blame "the Jews" for so much misfortune?
Nice interview Ms. Sophie
