I can't remember the reasoning, but since it was only 750 points he didn't want to take two platoons since it would have taken a pretty high amount of points. Instead he took one platoon and an armored fist squad (for taking objectives).

I know right? Here's my guess he took veteran squads and upgraded the shit out of 'em as well as taking a unit of expensive strom troopers.
