By the way Bette talked about her adopted daughter Margot who was mentally Handicapped is a far cry from the way Bette's oldest daughter describes this Iconic Legend. Too hell, with ungrateful children of the famous or otherwise. In most cases of famous children gone sour, they just do not have that essential spark of what it takes to be as great as their parent was, and it is sad that they end up with such inferiority complexes that they have to spew hideous epithets at their parent.

If you take risks, you are pilloried by other people's jealousy. Her life was a series of risks, not calculated, but jumping from a cliff and hoping there is water to break the fall. Many of us "little" people can identify. When I came out of the closet at 53 my 3 bigoted brothers had apoplexy. When I moved to Paris a bit later, they almost had me executed. If you break from the mold like Bette Davis taught us how to, you are a target. With all the crap that people flung at her, she is immortal!

I'm the biggest Bette fan, I never read BD's book. No one knows what goes on in a family behind close doors, my understanding is that the book deal was done and ready to be published at the time of her illness. The timing terrible yes but every word could be true for all you or I know, agin never read it because I'm such a fan but calling her daughter every name in the book when you don't know kills me.
