I share your frustations with conservatives - I fought them in the U.K. (though there they are maybe not so creationist). But still please remember that they are people too and you have more in common with them than you might think. I'm sure that many conservatives fought in WWII believing in principles of democracy and freedom. We have to always revise what those terms mean and that is where we fall. What passage does God say homosexuality is a sin? Jesus also taught by example. Isn't it a sin to judge? Isn't it a sin to hurt children (either by neglect,abuse or poor education), isn't it a sin to pollute and rape the earth that we are commanded to be "stewards of"? Do YOUR research. All of these "sources" of HIV are completely speculation at this point. There are holes in EVERY one of the theories trying to trace the epidemic. And none of the theories I've ever come across while reading about, answering and asking questions at conferences, and building and collecting projects has ever listed "HIV popped up in African gays" as a possibility.

I myself am not from Africa, but from what I have learned so far, homosexualty in Africa was almost non-existent in Africa when americans started getting word of the HIV virus in it's earlier form called GRIDS. I'm a Christian. Those that know me would say that I am conservative, though I am not a republican. As a Christian, I know that Homosexuality is a sin. Then again so is heterosexual intercourse before marriage, but do ya hear most mainstream Judeo-Christians ranting about that, or even going to the extent of attempting to block heterosexuals from having sex? No! All sin is considered on level ground with one another, therefore Homosexuality is not even the worst sin one can commit!
Everyone sins, even Christians. The only one who did NOT sin was Jesus, and he says "judge not lest Ye be judged....", "love thy neighbor....". He also tells all Christians to "Go into all the world and witness the Gospel....". he never once told us to go into the world and pass judgment on others, or to use the Law to block others from the basic freedoms that we as Christians celebrate as citizens of this country, just because those people don't believe the same way we do.
When it says homosexuality is a sin, God is saying to the individual believer not to commit the sin, not to use it as a focus point for your own crusade against gays and lesbians. Pray for the lost, don't try to excommunicate them from society just because you and they have differing beliefs! Now I know that there are some who are quite militant and wish to turn some points of fiction into fact through the law, but most just want to enjoy the same rights we enjoy, and without fear!
I'm not saying that we have to try it ourselves, I just think we should just let them make their own decisions about their own lives. Let them marry if they want to, most heterosexuals get married. Marriage is a personal decision, and not one that should be regulated by government, which is merely a shallow mask for the promotion of hatred and bigotry. Ive heard from the side of my fellow believers the sentiment that marriage was ordained by God, but even non-believers get married! Even so, there are other things ordained and held sacred by God, but man has used those contrary to the way God wanted them used.
I am not condoning or promoting homosexuality or any other sin, but it is not our role as bible-believing Christians to judge others. Pray for them (don't tell them you are, I know that you may not be ashamed to say so, but it does come across as conceited and takes away your witness), preach the gospel to them, but don't judge them, because you are not without sin.

I share your frustations with conservatives - I fought them in the U.K. (though there they are maybe not so creationist). But still please remember that they are people too and you have more in common with them than you might think. I'm sure that many conservatives fought in WWII believing in principles of democracy and freedom. We have to always revise what those terms mean and that is where we fall. What we can do together is get discussion of democracy and freedom on everyone's agenda.

I see we will never agree. My point about children was that there are other "sins" we should focus our energies on rather than the private lives of two consenting adults. I realize the bible is a translation(many times over)of the original. Things can be lost in translation. I just try to be the best person I can be. Isn't it a sin to hurt children (either by neglect,abuse or poor education), isn't it a sin to pollute and rape the earth that we are commanded to be "stewards of"? I myself am not from Africa, but from what I have learned so far, homosexualty in Africa was almost non-existent in Africa when americans started getting word of the HIV virus in it's earlier form called GRIDS. GRIDS stands for Gay Related Immune Deficiancy Syndrome. I was re-termed AIDS because scientists found the same symptoms arising in Bissexuals and people who shared needles the drug culture.

I'm a Christian. Those that know me would say that I am conservative, though I am not a republican. As a Christian, I know that Homosexuality is a sin. Then again so is heterosexual intercourse before marriage, but do ya hear most mainstream Judeo-Christians ranting about that, or even going to the extent of attempting to block heterosexuals from having sex? He also tells all Christians to "Go into all the world and witness the Gospel....". he never once told us to go into the world and pass judgment on others, or to use the Law to block others from the basic freedoms that we as Christians celebrate as citizens of this country, just because those people don't believe the same way we do.

When it says homosexuality is a sin, God is saying to the individual believer not to commit the sin, not to use it as a focus point for your own crusade against gays and lesbians. Pray for the lost, don't try to excommunicate them from society just because you and they have differing beliefs! Now I know that there are some who are quite militant and wish to turn some points of fiction into fact through the law, but most just want to enjoy the same rights we enjoy, and without fear!

Expanded education, cool. However, since were no longer allowed to discipline kids school is pretty much the last place young people can learn nowadays. Good job liberals!! Forcing desegregation now ensures that every school has its gangs! Face it, America started going to shit in the 60's, when liberals started this 'New Society'. When I was in college I took a life sciences class. the Textbook was written by Sylvia Mader. According to Mader, there are 7 signs that can determine if something is alive, dead, or non-living.some of them include the ability to grow, to change, demonstrating respiration, etc. according to this secularist textbook author, a child is alive from the first moment of conception in the womb.(not fetal tissue, or "soup" as I once heard some announcer on NPR put it.)

That's what makes this country a democracy.
