  • i love the monkees!!!!

  • The Monkees were the first Minni Vanilli fakers. They were created by corporate media and did not write or even sing there own songs. Total fakers prolly didn't even play their own instruments. Liked their songs (or someone's songs) though.

  • I think all races of girls had crushes on the Monkees then and now. I never did, although Davy was cute. I watched them from the 70's-today. Cute and funny show. Other goofy 60's shows I liked included Beverly Hillbillies, Batman, and Green Acres.

  • When I was 7, I really fancied Peter :'''D

  • @TheClassica87 Thank you for saying what is in the hearts and minds of many of us.I was born in 1972 and I too knew the Monkees in reruns and their resurgence in the mid 1980's. It is sad to hear of Davy Jones passing away. I only hope he had inkling of just how many people touched and how saddened we are by his loss. They say the good die young but thankfully we had him for as long as we did. Davy, may you rest in peace. Thanks for everything.

  • One of the best:)

  • I am a black woman, in my late 40s and I absolutely adored The Monkees. I used to look at the show also. Great Music!!!

  • wow cant believe they stole this from shrek ahhaha jk

  • 7 people have bad taste

  • Grew up in the 70s watching Monkees re-runs on TV (born in '69). Lived through their amazing resurgence in 1986-87. I always knew that Davy was beloved by the public, but what impresses me the most right now, only a week after his passing, is how apparently beloved he was by celebrities who knew him personally - everyone from Paul McCartney to Martin Sheen to Maureen McCormick. Lovely, heartfelt comments too by Micky, Peter, and Mike. Davy seemed a truly terrific person to knwo.

  • I remember when I was 10 years old (about 5 years ago) I always asked my momma how the 60's was, and that I wanted a time machine and teleporter so I could get to the USA and meet The Monkees... One of my biggest dreams today as well, but it cannot be completed :(

    R.I.P Davy <3

  • Uh, perhaps the other way around? The Beatles predated the Monkees by 7 years or so.

  • The Beatles were a massive rip off of The Monkees.

  • he was just a good guy, hard to say that about many people in this world today.

  • why can't we just listen to the music without stupid, petty bickering? whitney's been a walking cocaine-riddled corpse since the '90's & had it coming; davy was a successful former teen hearthrob of an entire generation & will be missed..

  • @Fcarstens1 Whitney "had it coming"? Oh geez. There before the grace of God go you. We're all human and most of us have human weaknesses. Find some compassion. I'm guessing someone like Davy would not judge Whitney so harshly. And undoubtedly didn't.

  • oh god lets go back to sunshine days when people were not rocking crocks and socks

  • OMG I AM A 12 YEAR OLD BOY AND WHENEVER I STAY THE NIGHT WITH MY DAD, WE ALWAYS WATCH THE MONKEES, I THINK THEY WOULD BE AWESOME IN REAL LIFE IF I COULD MEET THEM!!!!!

  • RIP Davy Jones

  • It's so sad Davy will never know how much Peter gives to all of us in these days via facebook. He is a fine true friend and griefs me this much. RIP, Davey, I want to say thank you for so much. And please stay with us for many many years, Peter. You are a bright light to many people in this time.

  • @winterweib Do you mean Peter Tork? What has he said about Davy? I saw Mickey Dolenz on the Today show saying davy was his best friend and what a great man he was :( I feel worse about his death then Whitney Hustons :(

  • @ckotcher1 Yes I meant Peter Tork. He helped us in our grief, you know. There was a chat and we could talk to each other. One woman even asked if one of the users was Peter himself but I came too late to read so much of that user so I am not sure, but it would be possible. And he posted everything he could find and so on and made comments. It is too much to tell. I will send you the post he wrote first, its too long for here :) I read that from Micky too.Such a sad time :'-((

  • i wish i was borned at the 50-60s

  • R.I.P. Davy Jones

  • actually mickey sang lead on most of the hits! and who the hell is Justin Beaver??? lol

  • ok mister bigshot monkees expert could you possibly mean Mike Nesmith? you idiot dumbass!

  • To clear up recent misunderstanding...Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart wrote a good deal of the Monkees tunes that became popular on airplay. Michael Nesmeth was the bands main composer. Neil Diamond wrote "I'm a Believer".

  • If only youtube had existed in the 60's. We had to wait all week to see them. That reaally sucked.

  • you idiot dumbass they did play their own music and it was mickey singing! you morons believe any crap anyone says! lexipizzazz you are a dumb azzz for sure so shut the f up you retard jerkwad!

  • I can watch The Monkees show all day. I love them so much.

  • Part of my "Cool White Muzik"playlist!

  • and noone wanted to trade places with these boys such sad schmucks

  • guess if that wasn't or isn't your generation feel sorry for ya mate

  • oh, the cool days for sure!

    way to serious today

  • 7 dislikes?!? Are you F***ing serious? Who could dislike this song?

  • There was such a wonderful explosion of musical creativity in the 60's. It is still imitated today, but never equalled.

  • RIP Davy Jones

  • Better than Justin Bieber

  • @dbzmariofan350 a lot more better than justin b.

  • I still love The Monkees music! RIP Davy!

  • Memories of the greatest time of change and great music this country has ever seen. We had it the best back then. RIP Davey Jones you'll be missed.

  • @theoriginalprisonerX I COMPLETELY AGREE!!! We had it SO GREAT...in EVERY way:-)

  • I loved The Monkees.....sad that Davey died young....i had a crush on him when i was a little girl. Rest in Peace Davey.Thoughts and prayers to your family....

  • The best song the Beatles never wrote.

  • RIP Davy. I was a little girl when the Monkees' show came out...

  • i am a 55 year old black man and music did not cross over much but back inn the late 60's i loved the Monkey's

  • @martha9918 if your a black man then why is your name martha and if you 55 why does your ass have a youtube account?

  • @hamersimpso heres a question or two for you,why does it matter what domain name he used, and #2 why does his age bother you,is there a age limit for youtube?, i dont think there is,,you must have a narrow mind, perhaps that's why it's so easy for you to have your head up your ass.good music has no age or race or sexual barriers, this is coming to you from a 41 year old CONSERVATIVE WHITE BOY FROM GEORGIA.

  • @hamersimpso, what difference does his age, race or screen name matter and, hey, newsflash! You can be older than 13 y/o and have a YT account!

  • @martha9918 ok....Martha.

  • @martha9918 I'm a 50 year old black woman who loved the Monkees! Rest in Peace Davy Jones.

  • @martha9918 im a 13 year old girl and me and all o mt friends love the monkees (especially micky!!!!!!!)

  • I can't beleive Patti Smith's "Rock'n'Roll Nigger" is a related video....

  • Thumbs up if you can't beleive Patti Smith's "Rock'n'Roll Nigger" is a related video....

  • Monkees 4ever! RIP Davey Jones!

  • The Monkees for ever. RIP Davy Jones

  • R.I.P davey every time the monkeys come on youll come to mind every time rest in peace i know god will take you into heaven xx

  • Davey was kind of a good friend of my Dad's.he would sometimes come into my Dad's bar in Southern Florida, and shoot pool....Davey was a nice guy, too.it's a shame he is gone now...

  • Someone told me a Monkee died. Unfortunately, it's Davey Jones and not OJ Simpson.

  • @dicksalad11122 LMAO!!! I soooo did not expect this to pop up when I was reading the comments!!!! Someone good like Davy Jones had to die and we still got people like OJ and Charles Manson out there still living and being hateful!!! I know ours is not to question why, ours is just to do or die, but ya seriously have to wonder what God really is thinking sometimes!!! He must have needed another angel and Davey Jones fit that bill!!! RIP, Davey!!!

  • @Fantazunique1962 It's true - only the good die young.

  • @TheClassica87 I soooo know that to be true, hun! It's sad to see all the good people who pass on but I know that one day we will see them again and that brings comfort to me! God bless all the good ones like Davey Jones, John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe, and even though she had her problems and what I classify as inner demons, God bless Whitney Houston! She was a very good singer! May they all rest in peace!!!

  • I watched the show every week when I was a kid. Yes, early on they did not pay their own instruments and of course they had the benefit of most of their songs coming from Boyce and Hart. Even so, those four guys had talent but because of their goofy TV show they will never get the recognition that they deserve. RIP Davy.

  • @kristov29

    "those four guys had talent"

What talent??? They could neither play instruments well nor write songs - you are still living in fantasy about your childhood idols.

"because of their goofy TV show they will never get the recognition that they deserve"

You must be friggin kidding right??? It is only because of their goofy TV show that they got any recognition at all. Had it not been for the show no one ever would have heard of these 4 talentless goofs.

  • Pure gold, great song, great artists, to be loved and appreciated

and respected for their true talents.

  • @j3dmuzik What the heck is wrong with posting comments to more than ONE song? Is there a limit?? Also, the STUPID images that one has to retype is silly and pointless in my opinion.

  • at 1:35 it sounds like Micky was trying to say something but i didn't come out right

  • Davey Jones FOREVER!!! R.I.P. 1945-2012.

  • R.I.P. Davy.

  • The Monkees were nothing but a cheap TV knockoff of the Beatles.

  • @CaneFu

Correct. That was exactly what they were intended as. Doesn't mean they weren't fucking brilliant

  • @bluemoonrising26

Brilliant at what? Acting...I never saw any brilliant acting. As musicians? Other people wrote their songs and studio musicians played the instruments for the records and soundtracks of the show so they obviously weren't even a real band. It seems to me that the actual credit for the success of the Monkees TV show has to go the producers and not to these 4 talentless fucks.

  • @xPrincessGarnetXVI

    "stop being jealous of davey"

Uh, he's nothing but worm food mate - I feel no jealousy whatever towards a corpse.

  • Booooooo@CaneFu U ARE SICK ....Booooooo

  • @rosimck7

I'm not sick but right and you are clueless.

  • @CaneFu they were trying to do that

  • @quinnthin12345

Who was trying to do what exactly?

  • God Bless Davy.....Thanks for your talents! Rest in Peace! From a Country Music Fan....See you in Heaven! :)

  • My Favorite No Doubt

  • Davy's final song recorded weeks ago is here:

    youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nT9uk4X8awg#!

check it out and get it a million views!

  • Use to love watching the Monkees TV Series.. some music has a good vibe that brings people together no matter the country, nationality, race, color, creed, or whatever. Togetherness or ONENESS as the Tao Te Ching teaches.. Good stuff .. See ya on the other side Davy Jones #2 ;) Davy Jones number one was the guy saying aarrrrahhh ;)

  • I am a 13 year old girl, and me and my mother started rocking out to the monkees earlier today... She told me that everyone thought Davey was the most attractive and how he could be considered the "Justin Bieber" back then...

Honestly, I like their music better than Justin Bieber.

    #NoOffenceBeliebers

  • @lexipizzazz THAT's easy to say

  • @lexipizzazz good for you

  • @lexipizzazz they didn't write or play thier own music though for a few of their first few cds. they were a tv band. and back then real talent meant writing playing and singing songs.

  • @lexipizzazz You have GOOD TASTE! You should thank your mom for introducing you to their music. Check out Michael Jackson's music as well, we lost him too soon also.

    R.I.P.

  • @lexipizzazz haha im 13 to and since im a guy i dont like justin beiber AKA Beaver

  • @lexipizzazz That is so cute!!! And your right they are better then Bieber, Davy Jones went on the Today show a year ago and joked that Justin Beiber stole his "teen idol" look with the bangs and everything...anyway, you and your Mom are adorable.....RIP DAVY

  • @lexipizzazz No one cares what your age is

  • you will be missed

  • This song is on Shrek ! lOVE IT

  • @Orangegummybear4 Yeah, I watched him in the 60's when I was 8 or 9 , and I'll never forget him on the Brady Bunch either! I heard that he was a young boy on the Ed Sullivan show in the early 60's he played the Artful dodger on Broadway, and he actually met the Beatles before their performance. The music of the Monkey's is still played today! I'll never forget him!

  • This song was actually written by Neil Diamond.

  • I got the weirdest response from a Shamwasbetter1973?....Strange he is sending out comments that Davey jones died of Aids...How would he know...unless he was the man who gave it to him...weird comment by that person...I think he is a sham himself...because he doesn't have respect for anyone even when they just passed away....I don't know if that would even be true...and if it were..it wouldn't diminish my affection for Davey Jones not one bit...so whatever this person is trying to achieve...FAIL
