  • Hey man, is this the Keeley ultra/Seeing eye mod? I'm in the process of modding my Stock DS-1 cause it's ok but I want to make it into something great.

  • Can you post the component list and a schematic with instructions on how to mod the DS-1?

  • Im going to try to buy one online.

  • all mods aside, you shred.

but speaking about the mods, they sound just like mine =]

  • Wow. It sounds like the Boss DS-1 you modded is on steroids!

  • how much do u sell them for? im intersted

  • Comment removed

  • mike how do u mod a ds 1?

  • It is a matter of changing some clipping diodes and gain levels and tone stack caps and resistors.

    Mike

  • @SIXSTRING63 is there somewhere i can look to show me how to mod it? And where do i get a mod kit?

  • how did u make it sustain like that, its so beautiful

  • Just the mod on the pedal makes it sustain.

    Mike

  • man i totally agree that ds1 annoys me, now you got a quality tone with that there mod

  • what are you v18 mods?

  • On this clip there were no mods on the V18 ,just the DS-1 . I have done a few on it since then.

  • Can't wait to get mine!! Sounds great! BTW, thanks again for bringing my old flanger back to life. You really do quality work. You've got a customer for life.

  • Nice!!!

  • Thanks man ! Mike

  • Is this the monte allum mod? looks like it could be? I'm considering this mod to spice up my marshall jtm 30... its got rca blackplates and new tunsols... i think it'll work!

    Nice demo...

  • No ,this is a mod I've based on a couple of different ones to make up something I liked.

    Mike

  • Well Mike, whatever you mixed up and modded with sounds good.

I wonder how something of the likes would sound on my amp... have you ever tried the monte allums mod and how it compares to yours?

  • No , I've never heard that mod but have compared to a Keeley mod. I think mine has more clarity and definition in the bottom end and a little less gain than the Keeley. Mine is more like a hot rod overdrive than a distortion now. Mike

  • your ds-1 sounds kickass

  • quality demo,im converted and alerted.

  • Nice work. Pedal sounds awesome.

  • Thanks so much Carl. Mike

  • Your modifications definitely sounds warmer than the stock pedal. Nice work Mike! Besides the great playing, sounds like you found a new business for yourself.

    Mike

  • Thanks a lot Mike.I'm hoping to sell some of these, already sold one to Dave (popstotexas) and he loves it and to some guys where I live.

    Mike

  • Nice Sounds and licks!!!I have a Ds 2..I wouldnt know or want to attempt to Modify it But That Ds1 sounds Great!!

  • Thanks Carl.I can do work on the DS-2 also. Mike

  • Mike, that's awesome man. Could you do any type of mods to my Ibanez TS-9? I could send it to you, and give you any money or whatever. That thing sounds great man. Very articulate.

  • Thanks Niles. I sent you a PM about the pedals. Mike

  • Great modification Mike! - Try the Boss '59 Bassman pedal - Very Fat - use it with a Blues Driver and for a wee bit of spice when you need to cut above the crowd, a 1975 Morley Power Wah for leads and you have a neat little bag of sounds. I must say you have vastly improved the pedal. Keep up the good work and I hope you're getting lots of gigs! Dave

  • Thanks Dave , I have been rehearsing with this blues band for 10 months and have changed 4 bass players but I think we are set now and about ready to go. By the way I have some cool sounding mods for the Blues Driver that some top players are using.Let me know if you might be interested. Mike

  • never used a distortion pedal in ma life but damn i like your riffin dude. haha btw...the mod sounds better :)

  • I never did either, always used a good amp distortion. Started reading about pedal mods so I bought some and here I am. Mike

  • nice christmas present...the best ones are the ones we get for ourselves!

  • that mod is way better, cleaner sounds.

    it rocks.peace bro..patrick

  • Thanks Patrick. Mike

  • How do you like that V series Crate? I am looking at on maybe two to play in stereo... or the jsx half stack not sure yet...

  • Mike ,I have been back many times...I have effect processors (multi) and been wanting to get some pedals and you seem to have done much justice to this one... I'll let you know when I get them and we can talk about what I want done....

  • Just let me know. Mike

  • They are a great amp for the money. They are a little bassy but with a simple mod that can be taken care of. When I get mine done I'll put up a vid with it. Mike

  • How do you know which to do to what? You have some diagrams or schematics or what?

  • I bought some books and found all kinds of stuff on the web.I used that as a base and came up with some of my own ideas too. Schematics are out there for the taking. Mike

  • What pedals do you do? Distortion and overdrives or more?

  • Pretty much any pedal by Boss , I did a cool Boss SD-1 overdrive mod that sounds cool too.Can do Ibanez and some others too. Mike

  • Mike you freaking rip ...damn your playing in this video is great... you need to through out some rock tunes on here... the pedal sounds great too,but your playing shines...5/5 for your pedal and a gazillion trillion for your playing bro...

  • Thanks Ray for the great comment. Mike

  • HA! sweeter, fatter tone, more gain, and glad to see no HUM on the moded one :)

Absolutely amazing Mike!!!!! 5***** for Technitian Mike :)

but...the hands that play are the best part :)

  • Thanks so much George for the kind words. Mike

  • Definitely a warmer tone :D much sweeter :D

  • Thanks a lot James. I've really been getting into modding pedals and doing some research on circuit design. I hope to build some stuff from scratch with jfet's in a tube type circuit.

    Mike

  • Cool, so how did you modify the ds-1? I have a ds-2 turbo distortion, I can get some good gain with it but it has that fuzzy tone I wound up blowing the speaker in my peavey bandit, such a bummer... I been playin outta my little mini marshall and it just dont cut it.

  • I just changed some caps and resistors for a different frequency response and changed out the clipping diodes for a better overdrive. I can mod the DS-2 also if you are interested.I'm selling the DS-1 for $80 plus S+H. Mike

  • Thanks, but I'd need a better amp first, I can't even get the Crate set-up I was lookin at down at the pawn shop, things are tough up here these days, you could probably sell it on Ebay, especially if you put up a link to your youtube page :)

  • I watched this Mike... I had headphones on...and I just got so taken away with your playing that I can't tell which one is better.. You are something! *****

  • Thank you Jane ! Mike

  • Hey Mike, awesome demo bro! I like the one on the right! hehehe

  • Thanks Bro,got a new camera and amp for Christmas so making vids is a lot easier.

    Mike

  • Cool, i run the mod pedal in front of the roadster, OMG! gives it quite a punch!

    Rock on!
