Hey man, is this the Keeley ultra/Seeing eye mod? I'm in the process of modding my Stock DS-1 cause it's ok but I want to make it into something great.
Can't wait to get mine!! Sounds great! BTW, thanks again for bringing my old flanger back to life. You really do quality work. You've got a customer for life.
Is this the monte allum mod? looks like it could be? I'm considering this mod to spice up my marshall jtm 30... its got rca blackplates and new tunsols... i think it'll work!
No , I've never heard that mod but have compared to a Keeley mod. I think mine has more clarity and definition in the bottom end and a little less gain than the Keeley. Mine is more like a hot rod overdrive than a distortion now. Mike
Your modifications definitely sounds warmer than the stock pedal. Nice work Mike! Besides the great playing, sounds like you found a new business for yourself.
Mike, that's awesome man. Could you do any type of mods to my Ibanez TS-9? I could send it to you, and give you any money or whatever. That thing sounds great man. Very articulate.
Great modification Mike! - Try the Boss '59 Bassman pedal - Very Fat - use it with a Blues Driver and for a wee bit of spice when you need to cut above the crowd, a 1975 Morley Power Wah for leads and you have a neat little bag of sounds. I must say you have vastly improved the pedal. Keep up the good work and I hope you're getting lots of gigs! Dave
Thanks Dave , I have been rehearsing with this blues band for 10 months and have changed 4 bass players but I think we are set now and about ready to go. By the way I have some cool sounding mods for the Blues Driver that some top players are using.Let me know if you might be interested. Mike
Mike ,I have been back many times...I have effect processors (multi) and been wanting to get some pedals and you seem to have done much justice to this one... I'll let you know when I get them and we can talk about what I want done....
They are a great amp for the money. They are a little bassy but with a simple mod that can be taken care of. When I get mine done I'll put up a vid with it. Mike
I bought some books and found all kinds of stuff on the web.I used that as a base and came up with some of my own ideas too. Schematics are out there for the taking. Mike
Mike you freaking rip ...damn your playing in this video is great... you need to through out some rock tunes on here... the pedal sounds great too,but your playing shines...5/5 for your pedal and a gazillion trillion for your playing bro...
Thanks a lot James. I've really been getting into modding pedals and doing some research on circuit design. I hope to build some stuff from scratch with jfet's in a tube type circuit.
Cool, so how did you modify the ds-1? I have a ds-2 turbo distortion, I can get some good gain with it but it has that fuzzy tone I wound up blowing the speaker in my peavey bandit, such a bummer... I been playin outta my little mini marshall and it just dont cut it.
I just changed some caps and resistors for a different frequency response and changed out the clipping diodes for a better overdrive. I can mod the DS-2 also if you are interested.I'm selling the DS-1 for $80 plus S+H. Mike
Thanks, but I'd need a better amp first, I can't even get the Crate set-up I was lookin at down at the pawn shop, things are tough up here these days, you could probably sell it on Ebay, especially if you put up a link to your youtube page :)
I watched this Mike... I had headphones on...and I just got so taken away with your playing that I can't tell which one is better.. You are something! *****

Well Mike, whatever you mixed up and modded with sounds good.
I wonder how something of the likes would sound on my amp... have you ever tried the monte allums mod and how it compares to yours?
