Why is it always near the same amount of people that dislikes the video?! If you dont like the vid, dont watch it and go to something you think you will like. This film is awesome and the fact that some twirps wants to go around disliking every part of this video just shows that they know how to push a button that gives off bad credit. go to another vid if you dont like this one! dont follow it up till you dislike every part sheesh.
@annabatarowicz some people don't need sex and drugs to be in the movies they watch. I would say some of the best movies that exist don't have those in them.
I saw this film in the theater, and until today, hadn't realized that the actor who plays Pitts is the son of Sam "Jack McCoy" Waterston! He looks just like his dad!
"No mr. Whitman it wasnt just GUYS. We werent a greek organization. we were romantics! We didnt just read poetry... We let it drip from our tongues like honey. Spirits soared, women swooned, and GODS were created gentelmen. Not a bad way to spend an evening eh? Thankyou mr. Perry for this stroll down amnesia lane. Burn that. Specially my picture."
"The dead poets were dedecaded to sucking the marrow out of life. and the phrase we would always invoke at the beggining of every meeting: You see we would gather at the old indian cave and would take turns reading from therrol and whitman and shelly. The biggies... Even some of our own verses. and in the enchantment of the moment we would let poetry work its magic."
funny how this would normally be a movie i wouldn't go anywhere near. I just happened to watch this movie one night after years of knowing about it, just never actually seeing it, I really turned out to appreciate this masterpiece. Much respect to all the actors in this film.
@MissAbiLulu thank you for taking my sarcastic quote out of context. Anyway, I'm obviously just being a trolling asshole, so either don't take me seriously, or learn to deal with it.
@ginnyxwotsit oh yes, I suffer from a crippling level of shyness. That;s why I hide behind a computer screen and point out the obviousness of idiotic people's comments. I need help. Oh mercy me, will you be my saviour? WIll you show me the way, oh chosen one? Obviously it is you who knows me so well and therefore can help me the best. Give me a fucking break. Honestly, it;s not like his shyness is a subtle message in the film. Actually wait, it is subtle. Subtle as a croquet club to the face.
@PickleBeaver Oh and by the way, when I said "if you have it, you know the signs" I didn't mean YOU. I meant me. I should have said "if one has it, one knows the signs". I'm sorry my "idiotic" comment has caused you so much anguish.
I know the Opening bit is from Thoreau's Walden, but I just tried to find it, and was not successful. Anyone happen to know where that critical quotation is in the text?
@zackhanscom do you hear yourself? first of all "this is homosexual" is very offending. second, I am a teenager and all GOOD teenagers DO act like this. deal with it.
@MewMinto34 I love Neil. He's such a sweetie. He's just so genuine! (AND I'm proud to say Robert Sean Leonard is THE reason I started watching House!)
@Jacuzzi03 yea, I want to spend my time learning every language so I can watch all the stolen movies I want in my own country. On top of everything else I'm learning for biomedical engineering. Sounds like fun! What language should I learn first.... HEBREW!
"To discover that I have not lived" I love these boys just starting to discover what it is to live..the wonder, the magic, aaaahhhh.. I loved watching Neil's joy come alive.
This is one of the best films as it embraces what it is to be alive. If we lived by our hearts, our potential, and not our heads, just imagine! Oh the sheer joy.
If we did that Judyrusso the world will collapse because people will not be able to see anything better in their future. We will stagnant and grind to a halt.
All would be good if we'd principally strive towards Judyrusso's utopia (for inpossible, unfortunately), with in our minds d3v1llad1sc3wl's common sense of how people work. We would most likely end up somewhere halfway, which is already significantly more promising that we've ever been able to establish. Damn right sheer joy :-)
what do they mean by "thigh man?" i;ve heard it has a sexual meaning, but that clearly wouldnt be what they mean here, as no high brow school like this would ever have that in a senior annual. any insights?
i always thot that he wasnt a leg man,or a breast man, but a thigh man lol but its true-no way a prestigious school would put that in there wood they?
no, that's not it. this is a private high school, so he couldnt be in a fraternity when he's only graduating from high school. in any case, keating was bound for cambridge, not an american school, and i dont think they have the greek system. anyhow, how would phi be relevant.
if you think of the dead poets society it was much more "un"common than it would be today... sure some would think its lame.. but in that time using it like that was out of question because it was new thinking and old guys didn't like that ;)
