snakes can choose how much venom they inject, sometimes they even give 'dry bites' (no venom) as a warning. It's possible this meerkat only received a minor injection of venom which was extremely painful obviously but he recovered in the end.

@HaloKing3536 The baby meerkat survived . we have a similar animal (mongoose) in Sri Lanka. they have anti venom in their body . so Mongoose can generally kill Cobras . but humans can even die from a Cobra bite if not rushed to hospital in 2 hours.

It's actually only if they eat them; eating many venomous prey items have no negative affect on them if they eath them. Scorpions, if stung, don't truly affect them, though.

Poor baby... I find it a miracle that Arnie was still so young and survived, when even a grown human could've died. Meerkats never fail to amaze me...

And look, all those complaining "Why didn't he help it?" He did that because film crews simply cannot interfere with the role of nature. If they saved every injured creature they found, they'd end up with a nursery, preety much.  They have to let nature run its course, no matter how heart-breaking.

It could have been a very light strike with minimal envenomation - there is no "one size fits all" when it comes to snake bites, roughly 30% of bites on humans are actually dry bites.

Oh and the reason they don't fall ill from eating Scorpions is because in a split second before the Meerkat grabs it with its mouth, it tears off the stinger , which means here is no venom threat to it, making it like KFC to Meerkats. Yummy. :P

Seems like a lot of the bites recorded on film are from puff adders. Flower was bitten by a cape cobra(which has a very powerful venom) in the face. She might have survived like Arnie or Rocket Dog if it had been a puff adder.

Like most animals, being bit in the face will obvisously lead to swelling around the wound area, e.g Flower from Meerkat manor (Her face swelled up badly) and, like Arnie shows, will most likely lead to Paryplasia, and the Venom will be quickly transsmitted to the brain, causing colossal brain damage, leading to death. But Meerkats have some sort of blood cell which can override venom cells.
