I'm really happy for you and your son. However do know that when he was born there were ways to communicate that are very natural: american sign language. I am hearing but i can express everything i can imagine with deaf people, its very empowering for them and myself. Also the benefits of bilingualism are undeniable, if for whatever reason the implants fail sometime in the future, sign language will allow him to express himself and not be isolated.
