  • LANDSTRIDERS FTW

  • 3:26 Aww, the little boy is all scared. The poor kid.

The little girl looks like she's getting a kick out of it though.

  • The children at 3:50 have the best reactions! They must have loved seeing that.

That is such an awesome costume. Is it harder or easier to walk on four stilts than two?

  • is this for dark crystal 2

  • I love when u guys scared the kids. I wish my lil sis was one of them. She needs a good scaring! lol Out-standing and unique costumes!! It is soo unique

  • That is awesome!!

I hope I never come across those in real life.

  • Go walking out in a park at night when people are there and just fuck with them... lol

  • doggy style XD

  • wasn't surprised when you said you were inspired by miyazaki, they look very spirited away/ princess mononoke-ish

  • the first thing that came to my mind when i saw the mask was Noface from Spirited Away

  • 2:39 HOW THE FUCK IS IT A ROBOT U FUCKING DRUNK CUNT

  • omg you've inspired me, I got my first drywall stilts in the mail today. <3 <3 <3

One question (probably more to come) Where can I get extra large crutches? I have large ones from when I sprained my knee haunting but I am thinking those will be too short. I love Garen's build, the back antlers were so cool and I liked the rings hanging around the bottom too! I am thinking of doing this but in a different color, would you guys mind?

  • looks like a hollow from bleach

  • Now stand on two legs while wearing it.

  • It would be so awesome to have one of these costumes

  • What did you use to clamp the upholstery foam together? The black dots in the beginning of the video? Also, did you use regular scissors or something tougher?

  • esta mortal el video es ta chido me encantos

  • Next: an AT-AT!

  • best buzz lightyear ever? totally agree!! lol

  • Very unique Idea I loved it :)

  • No I do not but am sure that it would have some type of course one could do to learn of its applications and abilities. Good luck with it, You have created a very individual creature.

  • Have you thought of using a flesh toned latex? for a realist feel and look?

  • @MrPoet67 YES! we would LOVE to be able to do that. i've never used latex so i'm a bit intimidated by it. do you know how to use it?

  • @GeneralTampon Ive never seen a costume so conviencing. How did you come up with the idea. Truly amazing and creative. If I saw you walking down the street I would honestly turn around and go another way. Very disturbing.

  • @GeneralTampon

I've used it for various things and I don't know specifically what you want to use it for but for the most part its just painting it on and letting it dry. If you want it coloured a certain way you just add acrylic paints to tint it the colour you desire.

These would be amazing done up with the right flesh effects. Maybe some bone spurs. I hope you continue to work on these. Brilliant work.

  • That was epic. Would love to see those in real life one day. Great work on the costumes and super creative. Looked like something out of the movies. Bravo

  • So with your eyes facing the ground, how do you see where your going..? Just wondering, cuz I'd like to try something like this some day, but I wanna add metal joints and plateing.

  • @wizardjr23 no you really can't see where you're going but it was never a problem for us except at night. night was difficult. but it's best to watch the ground to see exactly where you are putting your crutches. tripping would hurt something awful.

  • great video ..

  • Did you were able to run on that thing?

  • @herian4 no, i didn't try. i'm sure i would have tasted the concrete. ; )

  • I am trying to make on, got the stilts. But are having a hard time to find a good foam that can bend............. -.- Does it even exist? I have checked around 3 stores already.

  • @TheMetalfreak360 you will want to use upholstery foam, like what is used for chair cushions. it comes in a big roll like a yoga mat. : )

  • @GeneralTampon Ty, then I know where to look. Though I have no idea to do the rest xD I think I will mange somehow....

  • @TheMetalfreak360 Try a foam bed topper. One of the thin egg crate types.

  • What kind of foam was used? I went to hobby lobby and lowes and couldnt find anything that bends like that

  • @SomeGuy13131313 you will want to use upholstery foam, like what is used for chair cushions. it comes in a big roll like a yoga mat. : )

  • Very cool! Great jobs guys, they look great. I built a couple of four legged stilt creatures for an independent movie and people seem to love them. There is just something other worldly looking about 4 legged stilt creatures.

  • I so want that that that........... Thing!!!! What is it? GOOD JOB!!! all of you guys subscribe to this video!!!!!!

  • That is absolutley beautiful! The masks stand out perfectly. Well done indeed!

  • I'm also a stilt walker, and have wanted to do this for about 2 years. Now that I have seen your video.... SUMMER TIME, Here we come!

Expect some questions from me soon.

  • WHY DOESN'T THIS HAVE MORE VIEWS?!

  • I want one of those costumes!!! Btw Love the vid :)

  • That was extremely cool. Are the costumes grime something, like a movie or game? Or was that all your imagination. Either way, super cool and slightly creepy haha.

  • @joshandjesse1234 we had a lot of different inspiration. the 4 legged walkers idea came from the Wendy and Brian Froud who made the Landstriders in the Dark Crystal, but we wanted to make something a bit different. (the Frouds actually saw our costumes in person and loved them. : ) we were also inspired by creepy things like wraiths and banshees. Miyazaki was a great inspiration as well. he has some GREAT ideas.

  • hello garen and melissa nice costumes

  • nice costumes!!

  • HERMOSO REALMENTE

  • IS IT A ROBOT?! I have lost faith in the public.

  • Makes me think back at the movie "The Dark Crystal"

  • @Vantazzy I was thinking that, then I noticed your comment.

  • Out-freaking-standing! What an innovative costume!

My favorite part is the looks of sheer confusion and borderline fear on people's faces as you just wander the streets.

Nice touch with the masks, BTW...super-creepy.

  • @PirateZomby thank you so much! :) glad you liked it. you will probably enjoy knowing that we stood in yards and pretended to be halloween decorations. after people passed us we would follow them down the street. needless to say many people ran away screaming.

  • @GeneralTampon You're right...I enjoyed knowing that quite a bit, and so did my wife! :)

I'm not sure how you'd feel about this, but I've been looking for creepy creatures to feature in a video game I'm making...would you be willing to let me use your costumes as a basis for one of the character races? You'd be credited, of course!

  • @PirateZomby oh, yes of course! we would be honored! are you a programer? my husband and i are both concept artists and modelers for games but we don't know where to begin when it comes to programming.

  • Comment removed

  • @GeneralTampon I never heard back from you; do you and your husband have an online portfolio of work I can take a look at? I'm really hurting for good creature designers!

  • that is awsome thiers so many thing you can make with that ..... did you use for the arms and leg did you just make it out of wood ????? great job!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @deoblo85 for the legs i used wooden circus peg stilts. for the arms i used very large medical crutches. they are very comfy.

  • Very creative! The total effect is awesome, from the lumbering pace to the sweeping gaze. Question...is it tiring to walk bent over like that, or is it more comfortable than it looks? How long can you remain in costume before you need a break? Thanks.

  • @ETHIOLOGIST1 nope not at all. the medical crutches we used are VERY comfy. they have great cushions and even shocks in them.

  • awesome

  • WHAT IS THIS SORCERY!

  • Oh my god that's an amazing idea - imagine if this was used to make an Elcor, from Mass Effect..

    Do want.

  • amazing costume!!!!

    greetings from Hungary

  • You two are amazing, I think I'll work on something like this for a summer project. =)

  • These things are terrifying... like something I have seen in my nightmares.

  • Amazing costumes! By far the best ones there!

  • BEST COSTUME EVERRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You guys are inspirational!

  • those are great costumes....I wish you could make me one to look like a Landstrider! I've always wanted to walk in a Landstrider costume!

  • thats cool as hell

  • did it hurt to be hunched over like that for long periods of time?

  • @cheerthrulife09 nope not at all. the crutches were very comfortable.

  • Very cool!

  • Great idea! Awsome costume!!!

  • wow very cool ... i has the " Landstryder" look from the Dark Crystal.

  • So freaken cool love it

  • Sweeeet

  • Thats just AWESOME!!!...gotta Fav this and see about next 'Ween for sure!!

  • That, my dears, was terrifyingly beyond awesome. I tip my many hats to you!

    }:)

  • in the start of the video i saw your eyes were facing down how do you see

  • Awesome!

  • please tell me what the front legs are

  • This Is Amazing !

  • Awesome costumes. I have a stalkaround costume I wear for Halloween and I too got the "Is that a robot?" question a lot. I'm pretty sore at the end of the night after wearing mine for a couple of hours. I can't imagine how your back must feel after walking around in these.

  • @matthewthemanparker actually we were just fine. we used large medical crutches so we could just lean on them. i could have stood in them all day. :)

  • WHY!

  • you should go camp in the woods with those costumes and when someone takes a walk in the woods you should go scare them

  • @deadtreedefender - LOL - and then get shot....

  • @deadtreedefender I second that.

  • Oh these are just wonderful. I love the War of Worlds like reactions. GENUIS. So many layers here whether intentional or not. I am profoundly impressed and in awe.

  • omg! are u guys selling those??? id sooo buy one!!!!!

  • it reminds me of the dark crystal and NO FACE from sprirted away....

  • @olivialovesmuffins those were my two biggest inspirations. :)

  • the dog is like wtf

  • that is sooo cool did you come up with the design yourselves its really creepy!! is it easy to walk in at first, have you tried running or galloping i dont know what to call it with four legs lol this is the most creative thing i've seen in awhile, i personally didnt think it to be possible i've wanted to try this for years!!

  • Can you guys help me out to make a scarecrow like one? but instead of like wheat field scarecrow, I was think about a woods-man scarecrow, you know, with a dirty grey duster and wide brimmed hat ans stuff? And if you can, maybe you can make a video on it? it might make a good project, and due to the fact scarecrows are rather appropriate for the crop festival here in St. Helens, Oregon, (which, by the way people, was where they filmed twilight and halloween town) so, if you do, thanks!

  • Landstriders!

  • this must of takin u days to make them i got a quiztion was it hard to walk on those stitts for a long period of time

  • thats pretty kool

  • nice job; really kool

  • I can just imagen playing an xbox game with a haunted desert and seeing a huge one o these walking

  • Amazing Job ! completely amazing

  • Was it expensive to make?

  • those are the best things ive ever seen!!!!!!!!! the antlers on the back rule!!!!!! the faces rule too wherd u get the faces!!

  • 2:43 "issita robawt!?!?

  • You guys make these seem so graceful! <3

  • Where is the parade

  • that is awesome but I bet your back would feel horrible at the end of the day

  • Love the idea!! it's wicked..!!! Do you have the building instructions for this?

  • That was freckin' awesome.

  • General Tampon?

  • I'd be scared sh*tless if I saw one of you running towards me!

  • @RelRao

Especially if it happens on a poor lighted street at night.

  • that is really cool.... im want to make one for next year... but i got a ?? did your back hurt after all being bent over like that?

  • Ive seen something just like them in a movie. maybe The Dark Crystal

  • @whatsfordisert

Return to Oz used them too.

  • @gothnate OMG the wheelers terrified me when i was a child, lol!

  • OMFG! EPIC!!!

  • Do you have links to where you got all your supplies?

  • I LOVE these costumes!!!! They are amazing!

  • These costumes remind me alot of the concept of a Wendigo

  • awesome!

  • What fabric did you use and where did you get it and your foam? I would LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE to make the antler'd one for cosplaying at cons! (just walk around a bit and do shows!!! sadly cons are to busy to be in nonstop!)

  • those r awesome but kinda a shame they didn't work on the faces more

  • @343xbv You are saying painting? Would of broken the entire look, but the right pattern might enhance it.

  • @destrierofdark it couldn't have broken the look more than a plain white mask already does....

  • @343xbv Thought about iconic?

  • @destrierofdark iconic to what? michael myers? i'm pretty sure the costumes r some sort of homage to landstriders from "the dark crystal". all i'm saying is maybe they should've taken a little more time to make the masks look like the rest of the costume.

  • @343xbv Probably not that much based off of Landstriders considering the differences, and iconic, as in these pretty much known because of the white masks, say the trademark.

  • @destrierofdark iconic to themselves? so they were well known icons the moment they put on the costumes? amazing! i only found out about this by clicking the video, and to think everyone else knows who these guys r based on their infamous street cred! and i think u need to watch the movie again cuz the only difference between these and landstriders r.......the masks. seriously why u defending them so much, it's just constructive critisism, better masks would've made better costumes.

  • @343xbv Get it? That's all your opinion. And if you actually DID google them up, you'd figure the differences.

  • @destrierofdark that is my opinion, but ur's seems to be misinterpreted. an "icon" cannot be an icon the very first time they do something. they have to gain some sort of notariety before that can happen, even if these guys r somewhat well known now, which they r not, u can't use that as an excuse after the fact. also, watch the part where the guy says "looks like somethin outta the dark crystal", the guy in the suit nods. so even they agree with me. the evidence cant get more compelling...

  • @343xbv Like is a powerful word, ain't it?

  • @destrierofdark u obviously have no arguement.

  • @343xbv Pretty much.

  • @343xbv - Landstriders are white, and would have long hair attached to the costume, and the faces are different, and they have those long extensions of the scapula that resemble rabbit-ears. But otherwise, the costume is similar.

  • @343xbv actually we tried tons of other different masks. some were animalistic, others were demon-like, but none creeped out people more than the expressionless human face. it stood out more than any other because the others blended in with every other halloween costume. we went with what scared everyone the most. yes we were inspired by the landstriders. actually the frouds (who made the puppets for the movie) met us in person & and loved them. : ) thanks for the comments and for watching!

  • AMAZING!

  • It's brilliant in its simplicity

  • want

  • Wow - it reminds me of one of the creatures off of "The Dark Crystal"!!! AMAZING

  • @missbatman90 When I first was watching her walk on them in the living room thats what I thought they were going to be!

  • These are fantastic! Good job!

  • GENIUS!===

  • Does your back hurt after a while and do you need to know how to walk on just 2 stilts first?? Oh and is it hard to balence on them?

  • I amso making one of these. You guys are amazing. Truly.

  • Roller never ending story

  • that is sweet you guys should get hired at one of those outdoor haunted houses they would love to use something like this!

  • You are awesome! I love this costume and starting to make it NOW! ^^

  • aren't those from the dark crystal?

  • That's kool

  • How much will it cost for you to make me one?

  • Do you think you could tell me.step by step on how to make this costume?

  • Hi, my name is Zach, do you think you could tell me step by step on how to make this costume I would really apreciate it because I want to be this for haloween thank you (:

  • at the beginning of the video i was thinking it was a complete rip pff of the dark crystal white runners, but you changed it enough to look different and creepy. I really like it.

  • people are like wtf!!! lol cool!

  • I'm just curious as how maneuverable these costumes were. How uncomfortable was it to be up on the stilts for long periods of time? I've always wanted to do something like this but I'm just starting out with costuming so I'm taking it one project at a time.

  • this is outstanding i love it, all i can imagine is loads of these all in there different ways walking down the street lol outstanding work

  • HAHAHAHAHA 0:20 your dog is scared...

  • Hayao Miyazaki inspired?

  • just amazing! great work

it looks so hard to create something like that

    awesome :)

  • AWESOME!!

  • I love the masks! =D
