  • @BritishLibertarian neither will socialist labour have a vote on independence numpty

  • COMMIE TWAT !!

  • labour dont let people have a vote on independence

  • I am intrested in joining the party.

  • Comment removed

  • Weyyy!! Arthur Scargill made the unions + Labour impode! FAIL!

  • This is an open invitation to Mr. Scargill to come to our Question Time debate to discuss the national legacy of The Miners' Strike 1984-1985 on Wed March 3rd. Why is there no interest from Scargill or The NUM? Do they have no case?

  • Is that supposed to be funny or what? Any humour you may have intended escapes me. I suspect your just a fud.

  • @Buggsy61 He admits he was a member of the National Front but says he regrets it because at the time he was political niave and poorly educated.

  • Your post said it all .small mind and full of hate

  • get a life fascist, most people do understand that the UK is not one myth of the kind you put forward and the working class is not made up of one colour or religion.you lot are backward thinking supporters of capitalistism.

  • @steelcityred Yeah. We're all the same, Dogs, Cats, Horses, we all come from the same source. Down with the fascists. Down with those animal haters. If I want to copulate with my Dog, and my Dog wants it, why should I be discriminated against? Down with discrimination, legalise bestiality, down with the fascists!

  • Socialist Labour promote policies in the interests of people regardless of their ethnic origin or religion.

The BNP are a fascist and racist party who seek to divert attention away from the real issues facing working people onto minorities.

Their political views are despicable and all decent people should shun them.

The person with the absurd post below is either crackers or insidious.

  • There used to a post here from some fascist minded type, that's what the comments refer to. Obviously the poster of the video has removed it - quite appropriately!

  • @Daisy12630 Thanks for clearing that up! For a minute there I thought you was referring to those invisible ghost fascists that pervade our society terrorising ethnic minorities with their ghostly ways. wooooo

  • the ssp and the slp should try to work together

  • With the on-going collapse of the capitalist system it is now time for SOCIALIST Labour.

  • Alex Salmond, leader of the SNP, today outlined his admiration of Margaret Thatcher's "economic policies". Definitive now then, subjectively as well as objectively - all the other Scottish parties ARE the same.

  • Global capitalist economic crisis is upon us.

Socialism is back on the agenda...

  • Daisy my usernames 482c or 483c seem damaged. I can reach you on othe computers but not mine--you tube has been of no help ( no human to assist) I will give you my e-mail address on a friends computer--I enjoy our exchanges. Oh! sorry I hit the negative icon by error so consider yourself having plus 3 instead of plus 1

  • You mean like Neville Chaimberlain?

    Like him, you mean?

    You remember him, do you?

Tell me that story before you get on to Dad's Army.

  • Infantile? Trite? Immoral? Illegal?

Are those the words you will use to the dictator with the finger on the button?

I hope you can persuade him with that sort of content, and you will have to win the debate rather quickly.

I doubt it though. I really doubt it.

Put this drivel before the British people and it will get slaughtered, just like it did in the suicide note of 1983.

  • You've obviously bought the sabre rattling little englander mentality. You sound like a "Sun" columnist. Your living in the distant past.

  • Hey troy, maybe you should change your username to "Captain Mainwaring" or "Colonel Blimp"!

  • The example you use is infantile and trite.

Nuclear weapons are no defence. They cannot be used in the type of scenario you suggest without destroying the world. Apart from that they are illegal and immoral WMD. And the huge majority of the countries in the world today do not possess nuclear weapons - do you propose that they should? It's the logical outcome of your argument.

  • And after you have built up this NHS with the money "saved" from Trident, and some latter-day dictator parks a nuclear submarine with nuclear warheads in the Irish Sea and makes a demand, what will you do then?

Will you appeal to the dictator's better nature?

Will you appeal to the UN for help, yes, the same UK that is still talking about Darfour?

    What will you do then?

  • People don't get long term treatment for serious illness in the private sector - unless they're really wealthy- because it's too expensive. The NHS picks up the tab and really cares for people.

How many of the private hospital staff were trained by the private sector? Very little I'd guess. They leech off the public sector. How many of their consultants are moonlighting from the NHS? Get rid of the Trident nuclear system and give the savings to the NHS.

The NHS is socialism in action.

  • Find me one single private hospital with the problems you describe? They are private, are they not?

They cost less to run too.

Why is it that every problem in the NHS is the result of being "not properly financed"?

Spending on the NHS has increased year-on-year, but how much of it is getting to the front line? This year alone, every citizen of this nation will spend about £1200 on the NHS, that's more than £5000 per family of 4.5 citizens.

    Is more money the answer?

  • The NHS is facing an ongoing managed decline on the pathway to full privatisation, the millions that have gone in have lined the pockets of private companies including foreign medical corporations through PPP, PFI and other schemes.

What's currently happening to our NHS was seen in the country's council housing, it was managed into decline then privatised and abolished in most cities and regions.

The answer is to keep the private sector out of the NHS, as proposed in Wales and Scotland.

  • CCT and contracting out policies led directly to the decline in cleanliness of wards and the consequent rise in hospital acquired infections.

Destroying public services for political purposes requires them to be taken apart piece by piece. Dirty wards make the NHS seem inferior to private hospitals. As I said it's part of a purposely managed decline.

The documentary "SICKO" provides the best understanding of public and private healthcare provision.

  • Headline from the front page of the BBC news website today 6th Aug 08 is below.

    "Hospitals 'infested with vermin'"

"The cleanliness of most NHS hospitals in England is threatened by frequent invasions of rats, fleas, bedbugs, flies and cockroaches, claims a report."

SLP are spot on. The NHS is not properly financed and the above is as a result of services being "contracted out" which is another way of saying privatisation.

    Healthcare not warfare.

  • Is that code for global warming?

As oil gets more expensive, there is a future for coal, and these islands are blessed with reserves. But watch this space Daisy, the moment the nation gets remotely dependent on it, some latter-day trot will attempt to become leader of the miners' union, with revolution in mind. No people-serving government is ever going to risk becoming dependent on it again.

Its action : reaction. If coal can be used to change governments, then coal will be sidelined.

  • Pog ma thoin. Oidhche mhath!

  • Coal can be transformed into oil, gas, even aviation spirit (the Spitfires won the Battle of Britain using it!), also plastics and even medicines plus other stuff too probably. Someone once said the last thing you should do with it is burn it! Coal certainly has a future.

  • The British mining industry went down the tubes because the left-dominated Unions were using it as a means to get rid of any government they did not like. It worked with Heath, but not with Thatcher.

How that must stick in the craw.

Nuclear is the future in energy there Daisy, not your coal. No mention of Global Warming there Daisy. That's unusual for a leftist. How does your coal-digging fit into that?

  • The Thatcher government assailed the NUM and consequently the mining industry itself for perverse political reasons.

Windscale, Three Mile Island, Chernobyl - good reasons for not having Nuclear power. It's also reckoned that nuclear fuel sources have even less time to they're exhausted than gas or oil (around 30 or 40 years). Nuclear's also inefficient and uneconomic. And the waste is deadly for 10k + years.

Clean coal technology and carbon capture makes coal environmentally viable too.

  • You really think those "socialist" policies are going to work? All that renationalisation crap? Is the SLP going to drop all those prices you complain about? Are SLP policies going to compete with the Chinese Dragon? They will be laughing at you.

  • Food prices up, fuel prices up, unemployment up, credit crunch, bankruptcies up, home repossessions up ... The economy is in crisis at home and abroad. The status quo is not an option. Without socialist policies what the hell are we going to do...?

  • But still no ballot. They might have got a majority, but from the moment there was no ballot, they lost the Notts miners, and it was lost from that moment onward.

Why no ballot then Daisy? You sound just like Kinnock.

Would it have been too democratic for Scargill? Would he have won it?

  • Aw Daisy, spare me your semantics.

Which of the 57 varieties was Arthur then?

    Commie? Trot? Stickie?

Judge Arthur by behaviour and deed, not by the badge or the claim.

He was so far to the left he fell off the end into oblivion, and took the NUM with him.

  • You need an alternative to something, do you?

    What might that be?

  • You don't think that Scargill is a trot? Scargill is not a trot? What Scargill are you remembering? The one that sat alongside the likes of Mick McGaghey and tried to use coal to change a government? No ballot of the miners' union either.

Is that the Scargill you are talking about?

  • Arthur, again in my understanding, has never declared himself a "trot" or trotskyite and has never been a member of a trotskyite organisation. Mick McGahey was a member of the Communist Party and they were not trotskyites either. Therefore the appellation "trot" you use is simply incorrect.

  • The NUM did I believe ballot their members on an area basis - Scotland certainly balloted and won an overwhelming majority for action. A national ballot for industrial action against pit closures in November 1982 was won. That action was still current in March 1984. However the fight was for jobs and communities and the miners whose pits had been threatened with closure were already on strike. The TU principle of solidarity was the issue and that was what the NUM delegate conference supported.

  • We now have an energy crisis in Britain, import millions upon millions of tonnes of coal (coal produced with government subsidies and in some cases child labour), are increasingly reliant upon imports of gas, and have a government considering building inefficient, uneconomic and dangerous nuclear power plants.

None of that would have been necessary if the British mining industry had not been decimated and we had an integrated energy policy of the sort proposed by the Socialist Labour Party.

  • Then Daisy, all you have to do is stand on these leftist tickets, and the British will see the light instantly.

The idea, that in 500 letters, I have to find the cure for all ills is the sort of magic wand you no-doubt claim the SLP have already : public ownership, brutal taxes, state control of anything that moves?... it has all been tried before.

It is called communism and the British will not, and have not been fooled by it.

  • You certainly have made plenty criticisms in 500 characters. You've made seven or so posts in this bit alone - that's 3500 letters. But still no alternative proposals yet!

  • What exactly do you mean by "constructive". You mean agreeing with you? Is that what you are waiting for?

All wealth comes from working people. Well done. I'd agree with that. But don't attempt to make them all equal with your great redistribution experiment, becuase they will resent it, and they won't vote for you.

As for Arthur the trot?, surely you're not a fan of him are you? On other videos, Arthur certainly appears spreading dung, I'd agree with that too.

  • So is everything rosy in your garden? Is the status quo just fine by you? If you disagree with the content of the broadcast then what's your prescription? That's what I mean by "constructive".

BTW Arthur, to my knowledge, is not, and never has been, a "trot" as you put it.

  • Hey Troy, I see you've been haunting sites where Arthur appears spreading dung, trying to rub people up and generally talking bollocks. Having fun or haven't you anything better to do?

  • All wealth comes from people working. Nowhere else.

Your cynicism is wearing and I note you still have not offered any constructive comments to the discussion yet. I suspect you don't have any.

  • Ah yes, the old socialist dogma : not enough spending now that it has doubled. Brilliant there Daisy. Just brilliant!

Constructive? Let the big corporations leave, you say? That is constructive is it?

No fuel, no transport, no wheat, no bread, no consumer goods, no cars, no just about all will be gone but hard-boiled socialism, former East-European style.

Where will your wealth come from? Will the people not miss it? Perhaps the people will have to eat dogma, or leave?

  • Spending on health has just about doubled in 10 years. Has private medicine "withered" at all? It has not.

I like the bit about "tax those that have it". Then they leave, and you get 83% of damn all, and they take their money with them. What's it to be then, Daisy, sequestration and seizure, Lenin-style?

This is simplistic, leftist drivel. The British people have been hearing it since Karl Marx, and still they reject it, just like the diluted 1983 version.

    Roll it on.

  • Clearly health spending is not at the level it really needs to be, if it was there would be no waiting lists which is the grist private medicine deals on.

If in the event of a socialist government big corporations and those with plenty didn't want to pay their way then let them leave. They won't be missed.

I must say you haven't offered anything constructive from your perspective yet.

    I'm all ears.

  • What disaster is that Daisy?

Not enough nationalisation? British Leyland? British Steel? Unilateralism? Abolition of private medicine? Abolition of private education? 83% income tax, 98% investment tax?

    Is that what we're missing?

Is that where you want to take us, again?

Sounds like a suicide note to me and it will to others. Stand on that ticket. If it's as appealing as you think, you will get elected easily.

In practice, you will get slaughtered, like Foot before you.

  • 35% price rise from British Gas while its' parent company boast record profits. Northern Rock has just been "nationalised" not in the interests of the people but to shore up the city.

Scrap nuclear weapons spend it on health and private medicine will wither away - who would pay when there is a "free" alternative offering the very best care when needed?

Tax those who have it! No problem.

The tide just may be starting to turn in this country and across the world too.

  • You sound just like the suicide note of 1983, and it didn't sell. You are old enough to remember it. Do you remember Micheal Foot? He stood on this ticket, almost to the letter, and the British people stuffed the note in the bin, and Foot with it.

Ill-informed? Interesting that solar power works better the further north you are. What pub did you hear that in? More daylight over the annual cycle? We all get the same daylight hours, but Scotland is cloudy, and the sun is low in the sky.

  • In 1981 unemployment was rocketing under the most unpopular PM in history and heading for oblivion. Then what happened? SDP formed (with shady support), a colossal anti-labour media campaign and a convenient war in the South Atlantic. The rest is history as they say.

Solar power is valid in Scotland/elsewhere as is wind, wave and other renewable sources. We also have reserves of coal that with new technologies available can be used cleanly. Thatcherite policies are leading us to disaster.

  • The free-market actor Ricky speaks!

No private health care. Let's all die equal!

No nukes! Let's use solar power, at 55 deg north in the dead of winter, even when it's cloudy!!

Why didn't we think of that before??? Genius!!!

    Let's live the dream!!!

  • Private health leeches off the NHS, it's completely parasitic and should be abolished. Spend the £75 billions on health instead of the Trident nuclear WMD and we'd have a healthcare system second to none.

As for solar power - the further north you are the more it's potential efficiency - ie more daylight over the annual cycle.Your ill-informed.

BTW - What exactly is a "free-market" actor?

  • With the ridiculousrising prices of energy, it's imperitive that the gas and electricity companies are re-nationalised, so that gas and electricity can be supplied with lower or non-existent profit margins, thereby reducing the cost of living. Thatcher sold out these industries to international finance and made us dependent on foreign supplies. Now that policy is kicking us in the teeth while the fatcats take our money and live nicely.

  • Socialism is NOT ANN IDEOLOGY it is a based on scientific planned economies,as opposed to the private interests of monoploly Capitalists.

IN A ADVANCED Socialalist economy any labour will no lobger have to live to the whims and greed and of short term quick profitcapitalist In a plammed economy we can build for BRITAIN real homes, jobs, and sustainable industries free from the afflictions of Capitalism. The current debt and mother of all Capitalist crisis in this age Is a call for Socialism.

  • Oh no - socialists, I usually don't like them. i don't think the worlds problems can be taken away by finger pointing and people talking about employment and factories and things, these are problems that will never cease - what about the pollution and destroyig nature and its surroundings that these things cause, these things last forever, it is the greed of man that is the problem. Ideologies? i don't beleive in that, id only go by what i think is right i think rather than some man made ideal.

  • Food prices up, fuel prices up, unemployment up, credit crunch, bankruptcies up, home repossessions up ... The economy is in crisis at home and abroad. The status quo is not an option. Without socialist policies what the hell are we going to do...?

  • And still it goes on...

  • coal, steel, shipbuilding ..in 2007 with the overheads and subsidies needed to make somewhere like Scotland operational ?

this is complete and utter fantasy bullshit.

where is this standard of living supposed to come from btw? (seeing as the "unelected" EU would not be involved). are you going to be making ships that cost 2000% more than the competitions? or tax ... tax whom to pay for this socialist dream? scotland CANNOT afford to be petuently "independent" in the modern world.

  • So who produces the coal, steel and ships and other goods then? The SLP manifesto is costed - check out the SLP website for details. It's certainly not "cloud cuckoo land" to have a policy of industrial regeneration to offer opportunity and hope for the millions in Britain living in poverty and despair. Take the social and economic cost of that into consideration and you may get a different answer to some of the rhetorical questions you pose.

  • is this a joke ?

    cloud cuckoo land

  • I used to like Tomlinson, but now I know he's a socialist, I'm not so sure

  • If Sheridan hadn't lost the plot you bastards would have been well advised to stay out of Scottish Socialism.Tomlinson you are talking out of your arse.

  • Bastards? Scottish Socialism? Get a grip! If you've got a view on the content of the broadcast then tear in but keep your xenophobic threats to yourself please.

  • By the Way - the SLP were there first.

  • My Arse

  • The regime in power is a technological warlord. We are being attacked in the USA just like those in their subjugated nations. Stop forced injections, stop closed door government. Protect your young. Attack the regime and their media. make money from their heartless fall. Mobile Audit Club has proof of true horrors in USA billion dollar banking regulatory fed sector

  • sitekreatorDOTcom/k/endgameDOThtml

    WATCH "END GAME" HERE (freefullversion)

  • The SLP is a socialist party and therefore democratic and anti-racist.

Any party or organisation that uses race, bigotry or the like to create division is reactionary, racist, anti-democratic and consequently acting against the interests of ordinary people and is therefore, implicitly, an agent of the bosses and big business.

  • @Daisy12630 I think your implicitly racist!

  • With what's happened with New Labour in the last few weeks - the last vestiges of party democracy removed and left MP's unable to even mount a challenge to Brown (or Wendy Alexander in Scotland) the SLP is the only home for socialists in Scotland, Wales and England.

Scargill has been proven to be correct - again.

  • Arthur Scargill is awesome!

  • Spot on. Taken into consideration along with the national/international capitalist crisis and the wholly predictable collapse of the factionally organised parties like "Respect" and their like in Scotland the SLP is the only viable way forward for those in favour of socialist development in Britain.

  • Aye. We've got some strange outfits in Scotland too. For example, parties whose basis for existence is premised on racism, bigotry and xenophobia. What's your point caller?

  • Neither he nor Ricky Tomlinson live in Scotland so why do they feel able to comment on a solely Scottish election?

  • Because they're both members of the SLP who contested the election and are organised throughout Scotland, Wales and England. How's that for a start.

  • More likely because they have no party members in Scotland of any standing.

  • Is that a euphemism?

  • No just a statement that they are a very minor party in Scotland which already have more popular socialist party's that already have tied up any well known Scots/Scottish Residents with further left views. Not really sure what euphemism you think i'm using but A* for paranoia.

  • Have you actually viewed the broadcast? Whatever else can be said one thing is certain - the SLP manifesto is unique. One must also question just exactly how "socialist" parties can be that implicitly support the big business led EU. Also - check out the election results and you'll see who has what support tied up. I must concede the "standing" point since we never get asked to contribute column inches (remunerated very well) to the tabloid (gutter?)media in Scotland or elsewhere!

  • "SLP manifesto is unique" certainly not wrong there. No other party appears to be advocating a timewarp to the 50's. Coal, steel, shipbuilding and (heavy?)engineering are clearly industries where Scotland can no longer compete internationally. Ignoring the fact that other countries can do these industries cheaper there is no longer the skills in the workforce and I may add there is no longer desire to work in these industries in my experience.

  • So we don't need coal, steel, shipbuilding and engineering any more? Or other countries can do these things cheaper? Particularly the child miners of Bolivia perhaps?

Apart from being plain wrong (and "timewarped" yourself in your mind set) one other thing is certain - you ain't no socialist.

  • I didn't say we don't need them, I said that we could not compete. However 1st stating that increased coal is a good idea then later stating that renewable energy is the way to go seems rather odd. I notice you have ignored that there are no longer the skills in the population. And have really just choosen to attack me and throw out about child miners which has nothing to do with this. Also is Evo Morales a confirmed socialist not president of Bolivia?

  • I will concede one more point. The frittering away of generations of industrial skills and experience (and that includes what were traditionally female skills in textiles and elsewhere)by successive governments is criminal. And that's in my experience as an engineering tradesman. Also in my experience (now in education) young people jump at opportunities (few as they now are) to develop a career in industry. Considering the alternatives (call centre work and the like...) that's hardly suprising.

  • I wish we had this party over here.

  • Blaw 1888 - What party offers "independence"? Take for example PFI, VAT, spending restrictions, neo-liberalist opening up of ALL our public services to the profiteers, undermining democracy (Scottish, British... or Irish)??? All the intent of the big business driven, anti-national democratic, profit maximising European Union that ALL our so-called "nationalist" parties support - explicitly or implicitly. i.e. SNP, Greens, SSP, Solidarity. Question is - are these parties ignorant.

  • well nnow labour have wee WENDY at the helm the prospects dont look too good ,no one to oppose her ,thats a bad sign .

  • the labour party of scotland is just another unionist party ,they have done nothing for the people of scotland ,that is why thier followers are now opting for change ,devolution was a con ,it was meant to strengthen the union not weaken it ,but it has backfired on them and has only led people to believe that it is thier right to determine thier own future ,nothing has been gained after years of W MINISTER rule THE NORTH OF IRELAND,WALES ,SCOTLAND ,cant parliment see .

  • Brian: Instead of saying Labour have done nothing for the people of Scotland can you back it up with some hard fact or evidence? And the overwhelming majority of polls suggest that between 65-70% of Scots support the Union.

  • the hard facts are that labour lost scotland ,i live in scotland ,i know what they have not done ,are you happy with london letting you play at being a parliment ,even the english want to let scotland go ,

  • Again back up your facts with polls and quantitative figures. Labour have delivered so much for Scotland. Minimum wage, investment in health and education, free further education, smoking ban, stong economy ,want me to go on??

  • labour have went from old labour to new labour now to no labour ,they have ceased to represent the ordidary person, blair ,brownwhat are they new tories ,the labour support fell from 500 thousand to half that under blair ,does that not tell you something ,never mind the lies to take the the country to war ,while he was in george bush pocket, and they managed to lose scotland ,wonder why .

  • I totally disagree Labour will always represent the many and not the few, there is policy after policy to prove this Free Personal Care for the elderly, free bus travel for the elderly, doubling investment in the NHS, creating a fairer education system for people from all backgrounds. As for the SNP they are no more than the Tartan Tories as Alex Salmond spends workers money entertaining his wealthy guests and as a socialist i am disgusted, they are nothing mroe than the New Scottish Tories.

  • labour ceased to represent the majority in scotland that is why they lost it ,and who did we JACK entertain then his friends from GOVAN ,get real, labour lost because of thier policies ,people do not trust them ,imagine a labour leader losing scotland ,as for tartan tories its hard to tell the difference whrn you listen to them ,surely you as a socialist can see the difference as labour stopped being aspcialist party .

  • I am not denying that Labour aren't a socialist party, however Labour is a much fairer country since Labour came to power. As for losing it we lost by 0.8% ,congratulations to the SNP. However, if only 0.8% of voters trust the SNP more than Labour then surely the voters don't trust the SNP either. I personally believe in Electoral Cycles and it is inevitable that the SNP will cease to hold power, if you believe otherwise then you are simply dillusional.

  • its ok to disagree ,thats what a democracy is ,labour have left many of thier old supporter behind since they stopped being a socialist party ,thats why they lost ,yes maybe they will win scotland again ,but not with the majorities that they had before ,they have lost the trist of many supporters ,thank blair and his war because many people left them through his lies .

  • i class myself as scots born irish and i cant understand a people who do not whis to rule themselves ,a nation that does not wish self determination has no right to call itself a nation .

  • blair ,blunket reid brown ,thet all recieved free education and university thanks to grants, but now students are in debt because they have to borrow ,dont tell me that is fair education ,that is tory policies, educationfor the elite .

  • I get my university education for free, another successful policy of Scottish Labour.

  • in what terms were you granted free uni .

  • i want to kill yuo all ....

  • oh dear...oh dear touched a few anti-communist raw nerves hear then. You need to read a little more russian history, and stop aspiring to sainthood. You never did say what you didn't like about the SLP broadcast except that you thought Ricky didn't match up to your permanent state of grace ! Still you'll probably get your reward in heaven.

  • Just as one man's freedom fighter is another's terrorist, so one man's class hero is another's jet-setting "socialist"!

  • Just because BBC2 tell us Irvine Welsh is a good (another pseudo-socialist) writer and Damien Hirst (a wealthy landowner) is really an artist, do we have to believe such guff?! Blake, Turner and Flaubert were real artistic revolutionaries, just as Rosa and Karl were true leftists.

  • Thanks, mate. Who are you to judge who is a Socialist or Marxist? People's actions not their tedious trotskyite tracts are the proof of intent. Though imperfect, I live my life as a socialist. Marx and Engels would have detested Lenin's vile regime. "Dictatorship of the proletariat" was perverted, for Vlad and Leo's egos were too big to stop the starvations during the Russian Civil War. Many Bolsheviks were horrified at the so-called Red Terror: getting into the gutter with the Czarist scum!

  • Thanks as I thought your not a Socialist, let alone a marxist,

  • We Marxists are, presumably against torture and the death penalty, unlike messers Lenin and Trotsky!! It matters not what spurious hue of ideology is worn by a bullying secret-police coward (de rigeur) or an equally brutish and craven executioner, when a victim is trembling that the pain "must" stop!!! Not by a vanguardist party who stifle criticism and debate and ignore democratic decisions of elections they freely engage in (All Russian Constituent Assembly of 1918, however flawed this was).

  • So, alternative Marxist opinions are not tolerated by the Left's intellectual Thought Police. That Marx and Engels were flawed makes them human, not uncritiqued false gods and pseudo-prophets like Lenin and Trotsky, who could and should have assassinated Stalin before the latter took power. Disturbingly, the gulags were begun by Vladimir (an echo of Putin's vile regime and its appalling prison conditions).

  • Thanks for the advice. But are you also one of those Marxists who is an apologist for the atrocities committed by Lenin and Trotsky's Cheka and other mock-Bolsheviks against many innocent people (as in the so-called French Revolution). These revolts were led by petit-bourgeois opportunists, who were so unlike Rosa Rosemburg and Karl Liebknecht. These True Socialists believed that revolutions can only succeed from the bottom up!

  • Ricky Comment continued

He did keep Marx in sufficient money though, who when not writing his epoch shaking philisophical masterpeices and setting up the First International, had some thing of a philandering, drinking and sometimes violent personal life.Compared to these two Ricky Tomlinson is a saint.Tell me like me do you work in an education system which day in day out pays you and me enough money to eat so that we can bring down this wretched system ?

  • I work as a special-needs primary-school worker in an inner-city school and am a single father and trade unionist. Yes, I applaud Ricky's earlier incarnation as a jailed class fighter, but, now, surely a maximum income of a hundred thousand a year is enough for anyone, so he can easily afford not to advertise for British Gas, hardly the most Marxist of employers and energy providers!

  • As a fellow marxist may I be so bold as to offer you some advice. If I were you I should be very careful about attacking Socialist and even marxists for how they have to earn a living under capitalism.Especially working class fighters with Ricky's history.read his biography. Engels was a factory owner, employed/exploited workers, may have treated his workers better than others, but didn't cap his own income or distribute his profits equally amongst his employees.

  • your all doll scroungers deal with it,STALIN!!!!

  • Ricky Tomlison's income is over a million a year, and he did adverts for British Gas, a vicious employer and exploiter of "customers". Quite rightly, BG would be renationalised by the SLP, which would then not pay fat fees to celebs to promote such companies' corporate greed. None of us are perfect, but blatant hypocrisy should not be tolerated within any socialist organisation.

  • Who do you work for? Whose bread do you eat? Who is your internet provider? In what sort of society do you live? Ricky's no hypocrite. He's a working class activist who is prepared to stick his head above the parapet. 10/10 Ricky.

  • I do empathise with the SLP deeply but it can never work in this current society.

  • At last someone talking sense

  • Vote SLP.

  • Vote Conservative on May 3rd! Keep the socialists out!

  • tory slag.

  • The Socialists are out you dick.

  • I must say that I am impressed by your impeccable manners.

  • I will be voting Socialist Labour on the 3rd May! Someone is talking about jobs! SLP priorities are right - people first not profit.
