We have been on an Andre Rieu kick for ages. Then I had an Ed Sullivan special on PBS and old rolling Stones segment. Mom really got into it so I had the recent "Shine a Light" concert video, and put it on. she loved it. Our favorite video now concert wise is Ahora Si by Cachao...you can find segments on YT. The dvd is avail with CD...think it won a grammy. Oh, it's cuban music! The dvd is just casual shots at the recording session.
I moved on to iMovie HD (part of iLife 06 on the Mac), and soon to Vegas. What MM and iMovie won't handle is "multiple cameras," so important for music videos (as you are a musician). I liked MM actually, and it was easier to throw together some creative video techniques, but you cannot do audio manipulation of the volume waveforms like you can on iMovie. Always something new to learn!
Yes, I have found out quickly that in order to keep her calm and "happy" to have her breathe colors. She chose purple for the inhale and pink for the exhale, her favorite colors. Cool thing about it, is it calms her right down. Also Mom loves the ocean, whales and dolphins so I'll have her imagine she is a whale in the depths of the ocean. Again, a huge smile will grace her beautiful face. I wish I could care for her 24/7...I just don't know what to do.....
Thanks for the suggestion. We recently saw the movie "Young at Heart" and she loved it. I have also shot video of her watching and grooving to DVD musical programs of Andre Rieu (her fav), "Say Amen Somebody," and the endearing Wilhelm Kempff playing "Moonlight Sonata" (color version...on YouTube). See her watch and dig "Mahler's 8th" and Bach's b minor Mass on my channel. There are also a lot of mp3 favorites for the car...Cat Stevens. She really goes for authenticity. Thanks for posting.
She loves the DVD of the Rolling Stones' "Shine A Light" concert video. OR rather, a few songs at a time. AND we got to see Michael Tilson Thomas conduct the extraordinary Mahler's 8th Symphony. Something one should experience at least one time in one's life.
Wonderful! I've done music therapy and see dancing, clapping, shaking, singing and swaying in people who are disabled, elderly, ill or brain-injured. Our deep and natural need for melody and rhythm never, ever dies. Gypsy Mama is a natural with that tambourine!
Yeah, she sure is. She loves rhythms. Did you stay to watch until after the credits to see her playing tambourine along with a street musician? Similar music and happens to in time to the recording. I hopped in to Starbuck's to get her a mocha, and when I came, out, she was part of the band! The musician let her keep going for along time with the tambourine cause she really DID play it instead of just fooling around. ;-)
I watched it all the way through. I could just hug her neck...she seems to awesome! Sweet! Thank you for the video and reply! That made my day! redfootwalking/Nina
It makes me cry. Touching. Love to show it to the travellers. This collection of documents about one's aging mother has real promise, and perhaps should eventuall be put together into a larger format. AB

Cool! I'll have to try some gypsy music for my mom, I have only gotten her Swing from the forties. She might like the rhythms in this music. Thanks!
