This was my first Rush and it it Is one of the most underated tunes ever! And I like all things rush! Glad it helped you! Neal is such a damn good thinker!
PRESTO is my favourite Rush album! When I first heard it I was not impressed, but it takes time and plenty of listening to enjoy it (according to me)! Absolutely finished and flawless:)
Geddy inspired me to pick up the bass in September, and I've learned a bunch of Rush songs. This was one of the first. I only wish I knew it earlier- I went through a very dark time in my life in 2007/early 2008. I've been a Rush fan since 2005, but I never heard this song until October 2008. I'm almost never emotional about songs, but I remember crying after I heard this. I never thought about actually committing suicide, but The Pass summed up my life for that period of time.
Better to hear this song late than never. I became a rush fan when Presto (1989) was their new cd. I new The Pass well then, but it really didn't seem to apply to my life until summer 2000. I happen to be my truck one day and this song started playing at the right time while driving way too fast on the freeway contemplating suicide. The spirit was very strong, I payed attention to the lyrics and followed what they told me to do. Now I'm so glad i did!! thanks for your comments. Take care!
One of my favourites as well!!! Glad Rush's music has such an influence on you as it does me. No one understands what their music does for me.....nor best friends, wife, family....no one. That is why it is up to us as individuals to carry on. Light a fire for yourself and no one else ya know! Rush fan for 29 years.
Thank for you comments. I feel the same way about rush. They inspire me in so many ways and am very grateful for the positive influence they are on everyone.
it's great.. If i ever have a lack of ambition or discouraged about anything.... I just through in Hold Your Fire.. It's like getting an alignment! have a great day bud.
This was always my favourite Rush song, but this video, its personal meaning to you, and its very similar meaning to me, and the ending to it just brought tears to my eyes.
It's good to see that this song has someone else apart from me.
I really liked the twist you put on the end of the video presentation seems to add even more meaning to this song, yup Neil's lyrical work is complicated to say the least anyway wanted to say I liked what you did with the song and video. :-)
thank you! Neil talked once during an interveiw stating that he is happy when a listener gets another perspective from his lyrics. This means a great deal to me.
Anyone who thinks Neil is not a good lyricist (I'm talking to you, Blender) needs to hear this song. This is his masterpiece, and that fact that is has saved lives makes Neil Elwood Peart a true hero in my eyes.
Peart's best lyrics ever. I put "Nothings what you thought it would be..." as my yearbook quote in 1992. I think this song helped more people than anyone could possibly ever know.
thank you bud. it is me in the jail sell in this video, and it's all about finding strenth in adversity. things are better for me than they have been in the last several years. you ever need a friend to talk to, let me know, i'm here!
Thanks man. Did a little time myself but that's not what was bothering me. Got this particular problem I am having now worked out...nearly. Doing good and now better thanks to your generosity.

Simply beautiful, man.
The lyrics by Neil are outstanding, but the images that you used for this video make the words more meaningful that ever.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice job...one small critique....the lyrics on the second pre -chorus are:
All of us do time in the gutter
Dreamers learn to look at the CARDS...not cars
gatorbuilt 4 years ago
I have to correct myself...just looked at the lyrics in the CD cover...it helps...
All of us do time in the gutter...dreamers turn to look at the cars.
Is ndeed the correct lyrics...Man-alive, have I been singing the wrong lyrics for like 10 years...DOH!
gatorbuilt 4 years ago
Actually it's "cars"; it's printed that way right in the lyrics sheet with the CD.

This is a great job and very much appreciated. Right now I'm listening to this tune about 10 times a day. Happy it worked for you.
