I don't understand why anyone would want to skip the opening to anime. Its a 90 second clip that adds meaning to the show. Some openings (like this one) are just amazing and deserve to be watched at the beginning of the episode. Plus, why would the creators of the show put the opening at the start of every episode if you weren't meant to watch it?

If you don't like the opening, then you shouldn't watch the show.

you would assume that i would completely hate this anime and that i'm a dumbass because i don't get it's deep meaning. no you're completely wrong on that part, i've watch this anime twice, i've read about it so i would know what it will be like, and i like it. no one hates an anime completely just because of one thing.

i think when people hear the word "anime" then think of super crazy supernatural things, sci fi and action. so when they see this anime they get a bit pissed. the simple fact of the matter is, this isn't one of those overly supernatural anime (only thing out of the ordinary is ppl with wings on their backs). it has a deep story and setting, people who insult this are very narrow minded and simple. if one doesn't like it that's fine, but there is no reason to bash this masterpiece.

I don't mind, it'll probably be preferable quality, Funi has fine subs, and I don't know much about torrents, i haven't used them in about 2 years but at least I support the industry, I want a re-release of a dubbed Haibane Renmei DVD collection to have in my household, I don't find it too much to ask. I'm not that cheap and I'm not some crazed videophile who will do anything for optimum quality, a fine quality re-release that's legal suits me fine.

Whats outside of the walls, is it Earth, Heaven, or Hell? I watched 13 episodes just to find out whats outside of the walls, and was sadly disappointed.

i found that watching the anime again alot of things made more sense abuot the walls, and the toga.

my best assumption of who the toga are, is that they are haibane that did not take their day of flight, and stayed behind to fill out the rest of their lives helping the other haibane go beyond the walls-this is because it is said that the haibane that do not thake their day of flight, have to live away from other people and haibane alike, with no contact.

how can people dislike this anime. at first i could only read summaries of each episode and i loved it entirely!! then when i was able to see it i fell in love with it even more. its so peaceful and has a great story to tell. also great in japanese and english. i will never forget this anime and would be glad to share it with anyone. haibane renmei is purely a work of art in my book.

this Anime came out wayyyyyyyyyyyy before Angel Beats i mean i watched Angel Beat and it was ok but it actualy didnt make me cry and its way different from Haibane renmei. Haibane in my opi is much better is a materpiece that made me cry a lot not just saying this to disagree with enyone but i do not cry onless it gets to me and only good anime do that and i havent cryed like this sence i saw fireflies the anime movie.

When this series was first being released on DVD I picked up the first discs and watched it no less than a dozen times before the second disc came out. The feel of the world was amazing, I couldn't get enough of the character design and music. Fantastic series.

A girl finds herself falling from the sky only to wake up inside a giant cocoon. She tears out of it to meet a group of girls with halos and wings called Haibane. The girl is named Rakka by them, which means "falling." and soon she grows wings and gets a halo as well. From then on its her trying to make sense of the world she is in.

Its very philosophical, and its almost the anti-anime. No fan service, no explosions, no cat girls, and a slow pace. But its very, very good.
