What I find so odd about this mockery, is that a few years ago I went with a friend to a new age convention, and to my surprise, almost everyone I asked was an atheist, and I spoke to many. @philblin Faith positions are facts based on conclusions. Evolution is a science, conclusions based on facts. Evolution has more than enough factual evidence to be considered proven. That's why we stopped teaching our children creationism is schools. Evolution has far more evidence than all religions, there for is far from a position of faith. Science can and for the most part has replaced religion (give it a few years). Religion is what ancient peoples used to make sense of what they didn't understand. unknown. Evolution does have a massive amount of evidence (unlike creationism) seeing as we have carbon dating, DNA, and fossil records. Creationism states that God created all creatures. By that logic, we would find all species buried in the same layer of the Earth. Why is it that dinosaurs are deeper than lets take hominids? We have plenty of evidence, we have transitional fossils, we have proof that not all beings in the current state existed at the same time, that they only existed throughout different portions of time where, ironically, we found many of the transitional fossils in this "in between".
Now without having to look up much I can easily prove the concept based on what we do know, the other evidence mentioned (cont)
So we know we have genetic mutations and changes throughout time (this is why a child may be taller than their parents, harrier, faster, stronger, or some other random trait differences). If these differences increase the beings chance of surviving it is more apt to mate and thus more apt to pass some of these genes onto it's offspring (which may also produce new changes). Over billions upon billions of these changes you get new species.

Thats exactly what Stalin, Mao, Pot, Albania and France during the French Revolution believed. Atheist regimes especially during twentieth century tried to eradicate it by slaughtering 60+ million religious people and clergy. Thats more than all the deaths during the Crusades and Inquisitions in the history of Christendom, and by orders of several magnitudes. Ultimately It didn't work.

This is so ignorant and I feel sorry for the children. I'm a Christian and would never come at an atheist in such a disrespectful manner. I guess that's just a difference in moral upbringing.

@philblin Faith positions are facts based on conclusions. Evolution is a science, conclusions based on facts. Evolution has more than enough factual evidence to be considered proven. That's why we stopped teaching our children creationism is schools. Evolution has far more evidence than all religions, there for is far from a position of faith. Faith is for those who don't have logic.

Sadly Science cannot replace faith no matter how much we might want it to which is why people end up trying to create a belief system out of scientific research, which for obvious reasons cannot work.

@philblin You are right when you say faith is based on belief instead of fact (which I did mention when I said that faith is coming to a conclusion and bending the facts to fit that conclusion), but unfortunately, your position is practically non-existent after that. Science can and for the most part has replaced religion (give it a few years). Religion is what ancient peoples used to make sense of what they didn't understand. Science is completely based on gaining factual evidence of the cont.

unknown. Evolution does have a massive amount of evidence (unlike creationism) seeing as we have carbon dating, DNA, and fossil records. Creationism states that God created all creatures. By that logic, we would find all species buried in the same layer of the Earth. Why is it that dinosaurs are deeper than lets take hominids? Why is it that we have DNA linking species such as dinosaurs evolving into birds and lizards? I could go on but I've already taken up two comments...

@philblin Evolution is not proven? No evidence? Someone hasn't been looking very hard. We have plenty of evidence, we have transitional fossils, we have proof that not all beings in the current state existed at the same time, that they only existed throughout different portions of time where, ironically, we found many of the transitional fossils in this "in between".
Now without having to look up much I can easily prove the concept based on what we do know, the other evidence mentioned (cont)

So we know we have genetic mutations and changes throughout time (this is why a child may be taller than their parents, harrier, faster, stronger, or some other random trait differences). If these differences increase the beings chance of surviving it is more apt to mate and thus more apt to pass some of these genes onto it's offspring (which may also produce new changes). Over billions upon billions of these changes you get new species.

We look at the evidence and all of it points towards evolution as the most probable cause, on top of that we KNOW it occurs as we KNOW genetic changes do occur in humans (again this is the same reason you're not carbon copies of your parents) and we KNOW that with billions of these over millions of years you would look substantially different. On smaller scale organizism with lower life spans we can WITNESS this process.

christian theology 101-christians dont have Holy water (its mostly catholic doctrine). However, its made holy by praying over it or being blessed. -getting babtized does not get you into heaven, its a public announcement of your relationship with God.

Very Few are saved in this world - X Atheists or X Catholics - claim to be once saved "Impossible" If you where saved you would of known God and if you known God you would never of Left him
