Hello again. Frankly, after what we all saw with the "Jose Mallabo" incidents, we can be very sure that ebay uses paid trolls, shills astroturfers. It is part of the corporate culture.

People whom suspect that there are fake posters, posing on the forums over there should file complaints with the FTC, cite the use of undisclosed paid word-of-mouth advertisers and/or endorsers.

Another hilarious aspect; most if not all of the suspected paid shills have been hacked.

Ebay probably used their ill-gotten gains to help lobby against the Organized Retail Crime Bills.

Folks should go see the National Retail Federation website for some shocking reports regarding the number of stolen items on online auctions.

Half of all new-in-box items are believed to be stolen or otherwise fraudulently obtained.

Remember, ALL consumers pay more, not just ebay or internet shoppers.

I saw that. lol Looks like a fluff piece, & I have to wonder the backstory there. That is a complete 180 turnaround. NRF published scathing reports, which although not specifically mentioning ebaY it was easily subsumed eb was the subject for the most part. eb also spent considerable time, money & effort lobbying against the NTF supported bill(s)

Subjective question; IMO, it is a crapshoot at best, supporting organized crime at worst.

For me the answer is no.

OTOH, ebay-pp have recently changed the user agreement and 'returns ' or whatever from what I understand, anything & everything is free now for anyone who wishes to complain. So the days of eb being "safe' for sellers is now long gone.

Simply a scammer's paradise now.

There are just too many better options to mess with IT anymore.

As long as ebay continues to make money off the scams and stolen goods, they are in fact partners in crime, whether by virtue of "willful ignorance", "willful blindess" or just plain lack of adequate policies such as proper registration at the gate, and a way to properly vett the items they allow to be listed.

This corp. needs to live up & be accountable to to the same standards as the average Pawn Shop, at least!

I'm sure you have seen the collection of ebaY crime related articles over at the CAPP forum. There has been everything from Civil War Treasure to astronaut's medals to works of art gone on eb for sale, & a never ending stream of it. Time for the Law to catch up with technology as ebay is now what pawnshops were at one time, only more wide-reaching & lucrative.

Not sure if anyone remembers ,but there was an incident back in Feb 2008 involving "Pillar of the Community" "stairway-to-the-stars" where a man and six associates were arrested in a $1.2 million scheme to steal property from area retailers and sell the items on ebay. In that episode, again they remained as registered sellers in good standing until some time after the publication of numerous reports.

My question remains.... What is ebay doing with IT's share?

Actually Anonymous is from a website called 4chan, a site known for its disturbing pictures (child porn, murder photos, shocking photos, and much more). They have been around longer than 2006 and are known as online terrorist and are some of the best hackers online, its scary on how fast these guys can work and how much they can find out in just a short amount of time. If you must know more about them, look them up. They have been on the news numberous times.
