  • i'm so happy i watched this video. i'm only 13 and i play volleyball i play outside and i'm around 5'3... im probably most def. done growing so i know in highschool i probably won't get to play front row but right now i still get to and i want to hit harder and i havent tried this out with a ball yet but it has helped me alot with my snap.thankyou:)

  • Thanx for posting i have tons of power but a nasty habit of pulling my elbow down so its 4-8 inches away from my hip. By far THE BEST TEACHING EVER

  • it's a shame you're not still making videos because you are far and away the best vb teacher on youtube!

  • I have an average topspin on the ball when i hit, but i see players that have massive amounts of topspin! i wanted to work on this, is there a way how? I was thinking of throwing the ball with backspin then forcing a topspin on it.

  • @jamiechang2011 topspin is created with the body... not the wrist. get your elbow back further when jumping, which allows you to put your pectoral muscle into your swing (bow and arrow position). also.. keep your hand open wide when swinging. the more hand surface you can get on the ball, the more you can influence it.

  • i've been trying ur 4 step approach but its not working. i have a massive hit but no snap, when i hit the ball always go outside or on the back line

  • thank u so much! i will try these 4 steps!!!

  • Great info !!!

  • now i know what's the problem when i'm serving

  • This is great, I'm doing a private lesson for my lefty RS hitter tomorrow, her dad wants her to hit with more power and better technique, I am going to use this, thank you.

  • thank you so much.

  • Yes, you do get more power, but to teach how to snap, it is better if you stop...thanks for asking.

  • Nice Job PP,

I had my daughter watch this 3 or 4 times...real big help thanks rudy d

  • i have a problem about timing of the ball :)

  • hi, nice video here. But i would like to ask... if u snap and follow through u will get much more power is that the case?

  • True. You get more power, but to learn how to snap from the elbow, stop your hand! It is an over-correction and teaches you how to snap from your elbow, which is where you get a majority of your power and all of your range.....

  • Hey Jon!

I tried posting a comment earlier, I hope it works this time. I would freeze it until you are very comfortable with having your elbow OVER your hand when you pull it back. It is the hardest thing to do in this sport. Do not follow through when hitting. It is how you isolate the rotator cuff....good luck!

  • Thank you very much for this informative, detailed explaination. I just did this drill for an hour today and at the end of it i was hitting harder and with more control. Its better for my shoulder too. I have a question though, can i freeze step two while im in the air, waiting for the ball to come down? Or should it be non stop motion? Ive tried both and see no power difference.
