I'm not too fond of some of apples business practices, but what they make is incredible. I wish other companies out there were like this so we had more options. When I say "this", I mean quality and design. Most other laptops out there are made of plastic that make noises as you handle them due to the multiple plastic pieces flexing in their joints. Apples stuff is always 100% solid. You would think others could do it too.

@simon44 Up front costs are, but Apple computers tend to last ALOT longer than PC. E.G my ancient Powerbook G4 15 inch I bought new in 2004 and it's still running with all original parts(I use it for both home and personal use, so it's racked up alot of hours) it doesn't have a single issue, of coarse I use my MBP now but the point is it still works! I have an Acer with similar specs bought in 2007 and it melted itself from the inside out and later the display went too, quality means everything!

@braydenmartindale I have a pc from the year 2000 and thats still working fine too. Theres no moving parts that a mac doesnt have. You could be right but its still hard to justify 3 months wages (for me) on a macbook when you can buy a laptop for a quarter of the price. I dont need something full spec. I just need to edit videos to a half decent standard. Unfortunately most if not all pcs struggle with the codecs so mp4 videos have a low frame rate and a nightmare to edit.

It depends really, a $2000 PC with similar specs, should have similar quality to a $2000 Mac. What you are REALLY paying for when it comes to Macs is the build quality, and the software itself.

If we really want to get in a what lasts longer war, I still have an old original iMac from 98 on all original parts..

You see, I have two jobs and one of which requires me to do ALOT of video and photos so a Mac is the obvious choice.

For general computing a netbook would do fine even lol

I'm in the Canadian Armed Forces and I just got a second job to get a better house. I work for an advertising company, and with all the software a Mac has it was clearly the best choice for me.

However in terms of education, Russia provides free college funding to all Russian citizens, easy way to save yourself some cash, if that's what you want to do.

However, you have to pay if you already have a degree (they only pay for one) and I do so hence I'd have to fork out the 18k if I wanted to do the degree. Anyways, 'media' is a great hobbie. My next computer will be a mac for the simple reason that i'm curious to give them a go. I'll see if they live up to their name.

Best laptop ever!!!! I owned a DELL that was custom built for 1800 and it was dead in less than two years! The virus' got old quick! The pop up boxes on Windows, "do you want to do this," "do you want to do that," "click yes," "windows has blocked this" and on and on, that got old quick! An iMac has a mobile graphics card. It's is nowhere as powerfull as a desktop card.

And you don't have to pay 3000 dollar for a gaming machine. I have a gaming pc worth 800 euro and I can run crysis greatly. I doubt that your mac mini with it's onboard gpu can run that.
