  • oh god I've been looking for this song for years

  • This band still going strong...better than ever! See them live, you won't regret it.

  • This was before 'alternative' became mainstream

  • Hit #1 on the Billboard modern rock chart for 3 weeks on Oct 21, 1989. I like this version but I still prefer the original by Status Quo

  • I think I was the coolest kid back then... I had the this CD in 9th grade, I am now 38.

  • the dislike bar is the same as JUSTIN BIEBENRS Dick

  • This song is amazing! Even better than the original! LOVE it! Just heard it in a bar and couldn't wait to come home and Google it to find out the artist!

  • Great use of a Slinky!

  • Can't stop digging this. Best Cover since any Nirvana cover

  • When this version came out I remember thinking that the original version (1968) was so old. Now this version is older today than the original version was in 89!! I like Quo's version the best but this was one hell of an awesome cover paying them a great hommage.

  • I forgot about this song

  • I am going to see them with Cracker at Campout East in Crozet, VA this weekend June 17.

  • @CarissaThistle I saw them. They were amazing!

  • This almost equals the Status Quo original.

    Still better than "Eurotrash Girl."

  • Not bad, but nothing will be the original version by Status Quo.

  • great version.... remember it well 1989...

  • The Camper Van boys were always such snappy dressers.

  • I really like the sound of this version, and the images are fascinating.

  • Great song, and the best violin intro since "Come On Eileen". :)

  • Classic!

  • What happened to the original video MTV showed in the 80s? I know this isn't it.

  • Got to see them here in Knoxville as their own double line up: Camper Van and Cracker. Excellent show. Highly recommended. Fantastic audience interaction.

  • love the original....love this one also

  • I like The Original.

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~

  • Great "re-interpretation" of the 1968 hit.

Different to, but as good as, the Status Quo version

  • Greatest cover ever!!! Seriously underrated band!!

  • I saw these guys At U of Illinois. We moshed our way to the stage to check out the smoking hot violin player....Well after 20 minutes of hell we got there only to find she shaved NOTHING...pits, legs...it was unpleasant...The concert was awesome and the band rocked though

  • quit hatin' bands that do covers. a vast majority of bands start w/covers.

  • Great music! ;D

What's the name of the girl?

  • @DougazP -Morgan Fichter

  • I never knew this was a cover until I heard the original on a Rhino 60's sampler a month ago. It's a really faithful cover.

  • personally you should have never been able to touch this song. Its not horrible but its also not that good, is it to hard to write your own music?

  • If you were to ask me right now what one of the easiest things I've ever played on violin was, I would probably say Camper van Beethoven's cover of Matchstick Men. I even learned it by ear. :3 I like it.

  • Key Lime Pie"

  • Reminds me of Cracker. Out at the same time though, right?

  • Damn, such a worthy cover

  • AWESOME song. Original is great don't get me wrong but these guys just helped modernize the sound! LOVE IT!!!

  • One of the most underrated bands of the 80s/90s...

Key Lime Pie is a true GEM - NO rock music collection is complete without it!

  • @mazakman1957 I agree completely. Bonus points if you have it on vinyl!

  • I'm OK with selling coverz, it might put some needed cash in the pocket of the codgerz who originally wrote the songz. Let's face it, Status Quo probably aint liven' too high on their royaltiez, and CVB didn't butcher the song.

  • @yahead56 From what I understand the Status Quo are still making a good living off of their music, still touring, etc.--just not in the U.S.A. anymore. In the U.K. and especially in Scotland, they are still major draws.

God, I remember how much I loved this song when it first came out! in 1968. I was in 7th grade, and it rocked my socks off. It was the first song I ever learned by ear on the guitar. Both versions are amazing! Long live the Status Quo and David Lowery!

  • @yahead56 I'm OK with people replacing "s" with "z", but sometimes it just butchers the comment.

  • Not as good as The Mighty Quo

  • Excellent cover of the song. Love the violen.

  • @brendan18lions The violen is such an underrated instrument. The violin steals all the spotlight!

  • Boycott EMI, remove the ad's greedy !!!!!!!!!!

  • i hate it when people release covers, sure playing covers is fine but selling them just isnt

  • @Lollertron - I agree. But I hate it more when someone hears the cover, later hears the original then says the group on the original is messing it up.

  • sHE'S aLMOST AS HOT AS aMANDA sHIRES!!!!!

  • astonishing! what a fantastic version of this song.

  • when men were men and music videos were music videos

  • love it love it love it!!!

  • ! :-o The fiddler is a lady?! I never knew! Awesome....

  • @mrsbonniemoore

Unfortunately Morgan was there just for the video....but still a good choice!

  • Wow! This is my favorite version of this song. So awesome! :3

  • exellent cover they played both cracker & camper songs @ cubby- bear in chicago last wkend. (sigh) wish i coulda found a ride

  • kinda similar to Eye of Fatima video...
