Interesting that you only equate modesty with what women are wearing and not men in this video. Modesty isn't all about clothing and covering one's head. I respect the hijab. But isnt it suggesting that just being a woman is unmodest. If God intended you to have your head coverd why didnt he cover it up naturally. Men are sexual beings so why dont they cover their heads to be modest?
yes, this is true, but as far as i know, christians have stopped stoning people and selling slaves, (both things are listed in the bible as perfectly A-OK under certain terms.) THINGS CHANGE. society changes, even though we've always been a glutton for misogyny throughout the ages and will probably always BE a glutton for misogyny. the naked female form is beautiful. even men (most anyway) agree. the fact that they can't keep their junk in their pants is something more arguable, tbh.

I do not agree with the opinion that modesty comes in different styles or watever..wearing hyjib means u cover ur neck, chest, ears, and hair. Not wear it loosly or so tight it shows the shape of ur chest.
God I miss my college job and all my sweet, gentle, wildly intelligent and focused, lady like female Muslim students. Never, not once like all other ethnicity od Americans, drunk, drugged, hung over, just out of jail, pregnant and unmarried again or selling weed to other students...trash people in a trash society America, God Bless American Muslims.
It is sad to read this comment from a Muslim woman who wears the Hijab, I see no inner beauty from under your wrap. You spew ill-feelings and hate. In Christianity we are taught to pray for those who have fallen from the Grace of God. In every race and religion there are people who fall from Grace.
hello.....islam does not teach to hate other religions or people...and anyone that does so...is ignorant...islam is not just a message...it teaches to respect and be patient even in the face of problems....we are also taught to pray for those who have fallen from "grace" or from the true path...and if all muslims learn to actually follow the true islam...the world would understand muslims better...but dont reply to ignorance with poison i'm sure ur faith teaches u patience too
The hijab cuts down on competition among women. How many people in the West sacrifice financial savings and health in order to have plastic surgery - in a desperate attempt to meet up to an unrealistic standard of beauty. IN ISLAM, WOMEN ARE APPRECIATED FOR THEIR KNOWLEDGE, PIETY AND CONTRIBUTION TO SOCIETY. When women wear hijab one finds that the most beautiful women are not necessarily the most popular. Rather, a woman is assessed for her mind, and not just superficial physical traits.
Iran has one of the highest plasic surgery counts in the world. It is even common for people to wear bandages on there face that have not have even had any surgery just to be accepted. Check it out.
And she is especially appreciated if she knows her place -- which is in the home -- and always obedient. She may leave the home but only with permission. She may not drive a car. Etc. Etc. Appreciated for her mind? Only if her mind tells her to obey obey obey.
If it is true that Islamic women are appreciated for their inner beauty, modesty, piety and contribution to society why is it ok for the muslim man after he has one wife to take on another? If he appreciated all of the aspects you stated above there would not be a need for other wives. Am I confused in saying in the religion of Islam this is ok? I had a friend to tell me this.
seems as if people will beat this point until humanity ends....historically speaking in the times of war...lots of women lost their husbands fathers brothers...and no one (male) was there to look after them...therefore to protect them from being taken hostage by other tribes..it was asked that they marry more women...also...if one marries a woman with no valid reason (example : a woman cant conceive).it isnt religious the first wife must consent to the marriage if not it is not religiously valid
competition...ha..you women compete for the love of 12, 13, 14, 15 year old..it is ok for older men to marry them they are women..and the competition is cut down..ha!!
what good did it bring to you to judge ALL muslim women on the comment of one person ?...have the thirst to seek knowledge..be it islam or christianity...and if you do...you would understand that comments may hurt people...and that goes against ALL religions and morals....do not be ignorant...and do not judge....leave that to god
I don't judge, I don't come to mock your religion, I come with love and a kind heart, I'm sorry you misunderstood my comments.
I was a Christian but, I started having doubts about the resurrection of Jesus, so I looked to Islam, because I did not want to be atheist. But, then I learned of all of the traditions of the Islamic faith so I had questions and yest hat comment was a bit irresponsible, but it hers hurt to..One wrong does not make a right..I'm here to learn, not criticize or judge.
when i say ignorant i'm not accusing (who am i to judge when i'm being judged by god)...i'm just as ignorant as anyone can be because i'm a human = prone to error...i cry at myself more than laugh .cause i feel that so many times i was so cultural...feels like i wasted life...now i wana focus on hoping people wont make the same mistake i did ...therefore i was looking out for u and i was scared for you ...therefore i misunderstood the comments..apologies sister
Jalanski28, and your concern on my behalf. I do consider myself a modest person, and I am not advocating vanity at all. All I meant to say is that material things are exactly that. Material things. As long as we don't give in to excess and become attached to worthless items and forget what is important, then I don't think it's a problem. I think it depends on your frame of mind. And in the end, our true intentions will be judged by Allah, no?
Right Muslim men are also required to dress modestly, not only women. this means that they should not have tattoos in their bodies or wear shorts in public or undress their upper body as to arouse sexual desire as what westerners do because it is inapropriate and indecent. it doesn't seems appropriate for a normal human being who have shame and dignity.
I see nothing wrong with wanting to wear nice things. Maybe she likes gucci sunglasses. Should she wear uglier ones? I don't think it defeats the purpose of the hijab.
you sound not modest, young lady. Do you know why there are so many people have been robbed? because they are so showy with their expensive ornaments and jewellery. thats what happens to people who dont know how to show humility and ignoring God's advice and message. I hop it doesnt happen to you. It is better to have natural beauty and poor than to have wealth with too much problem in mind which is unbearable.
Hi, I see Muslim women all the time wearing the Hijab with things like designer sunglasses. Isn't the Hijab supposed to be there to cover modesty and vanity?
Isn't your natural hair a lesser sign and symbol of vanity than displays of status symbols and luxury like Gucci logos? Doesn't this defeat the purpose? I don't get it..
Lets put religion aside for one second, what women doesnt like to feel good about THEMSELVES once in a while and buy something nice? I'm not saying dress in bling head to toe, but brand name sunglasses does not mean you are vain. Yes, Islam represents a simple life and what you have an excess you should give to the poor, but I think everyone has the right to buy somethinice for themselves.
your seriously trying to tell me why we wear a kara? Im glad you know how to use google so you can act like you know what your talking about...but you really dont..
i wasnt trying to start a a fight..everyone is giving their opnion and thoughts...youtube is not for people like you to start fights..or make fun of someones relgion. and the jains have nothing to do with sikh...feel free to google that as well if it means that much to you u can go to a sikh temple...
Many women cover their head in all faiths to show modesty, can agree, but do you see how much make up some wear on the face, so men still don't find this attractive no?
Actually hindus, sikhs and christians arent required to dress modestly..they cover there head while they are in church to show respect. in islam however you have to cover everything all the time..your not allowed to show anything..and showing a bunch of pictures of nuns from hundreds of years ago doesnt prove anything. but at the end of the day ppl should do what they what want nobody is better then anyone.
Symbolism is a powerful force that moves many, Sikhs included. Your faith dictates that you are to showcase your humility via a bangle called (kara/kada). Likewise there are special head adornments not all the different from hijab that define certain members that believe as you do. With that said this video doesnt undermine anyones devotion to dress as they please it merely highlights the fact that for centuries some people have chose to be modest.
Actually we wear a kara as a symbol to not do evil things. Every relgion has their own symbols and reason for doing what they do. Muslim women cover their heads becase they want to be modest. Sikh women as well as hindus and christains arent taught to dress modest..we cover our heads in church to show respect...covering your whole body is a bit extreme to me . this video is saying every relgion teaches you to dress modestly and thats not the truth.
Where does this video say EVERY religion teaches you to dress modestly? I missed that part. What I gathered is at some point religions women have dressed modestly.
This most likely has nothing to do with women covering up and more to do with your dislike of Islamic principles.
Actually you ware the kara because were commanded by Guru Gobind Singh at the Baisakhi Amrit Sanchar in 1699. And yes it is a symbol of humility something you havent learned
correction! Islam has been around since Adam was created, it was just finalized when prophet muhammad (SAW) came along, all Islam means is submittion to the will of god and clearly all the prophets did that.
Why the number of converts? A million reasons. Let's start with today's news. Lutheran "church" now say's active gays can be Lutheran ministers. Christianity in America stands for nothing any longer-everything is acceptable! Abortion, gays, lesbians, illegal aliens...anything goes in America now, and subsequently, anything and everything subsequently GOES DOWN in her (America).
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Although throughout history women dressed modestly, if you do your research you will find that the cultures were governed by men. It wasn't until the last century that women rose up and asserted their individuality a claimed their FREEDOM of choice. I cannot agree with ANY religion that forces subjugation on anyone. As far as I can see the Islam culture is one of the most demeaning and violent ones I have seen in modern times.
Oh yes and all our husbands are Arab and they beat us and we have no rights or education, blah, blah, blah. Do you personally KNOW any Western muslim women? And how dare you talk about freedom of choice? As a Muslim convert in the U.S. , I CHOOSE to wear hijab even though it is not common in my community. Why? B/c I want to look like what i am- a respectable, sincere woman who has no interest in unwanted attention.
I know Christian,Jewish and Hindu women who cover for the same reason as well. To remind them of their duty to God and themselves and to no one else. People get upset b/c they cant see my hair or chest. What business is it of theirs?! Do you need to see my boobs to have a conversation with me? It doesnt bother them when I'm wearing a t-shirt and bandana but God forbid I don the hijab- b/c thats just SO OPPRESSIVE. *gasp!*
In the Twenties, women removed their corsets and bobbed their hair to show their new lifestyle and a break from traditional values of the time. Today, we don't have traditional values- we just let EVERYTHING hang out. Is it really such a surprise that we would have a problem with this? We're tired of not being able to tell our daughters from a hooker when they go out at night! We want better for ourselves and our children and if that so oppressive then it is a sorry state our world has come to.
Violent? the media, of course tells you that. and also, if foreign ppl came to your country and your life, family, and religion were in danger, would you not be a man and go fight them? And women are not governed by men the way u think. Allah created men and women equal, but not the "same". So he has ordered men to be a certain way and women to be a certain way. Following his command, the world will not have the problems it has nowadays.
& BTW, you say that it wasnt til the last century that women "rose up & asserted their individuality & claimed their freedom"? Hello, they are nothing but mere sex objects nowadays, only fooled into thinkin this is freedom. they are slaves, they r just blinded. Muslim women had mor rights than any other religion/culture! Wen Islam came, women had right to land, their opinions mattered, and they have high status in Islam. Ask me, Im a Muslim Woman that covers and I was born & raised in America
Maybe insha'allah through videos like this Allah will open their eyes to the truth and they can stop calling us oppressed and un-liberated.. Maybe they can stop thinking we were forced by our brothers and fathers to cover up.. LOLLL walahi I think that is so funny any one would think that.. I wasn't even raised by my dad!! It was my choice!! I respect myself..! Stop stereotyping..!
Masha'allah Great video. I hope this gives people more of an understanding to why us Muslim women cover our beauty.. Really though I dont understand why that is so hard to understand..
If you have a Huge, Beautiful, expensive jewel or diamond would you take it and parade it around the streets for everyone to see? No? How about just a little touch... No?? Well God has created women more beautiful, more precious, and more valuable than any diamonds, Jewels or pearls... This is why he has protected them by telling them to protect their Modesty...
I think people have forgotten the true meaning of Modesty.
The devil misguided the world in to believing what is good is wrong
Ok, fair enough. Now, show me a Muslim woman dressed like many of these ones (e.g. 1:58-2:02) in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, or UAE today - just to mention few. Difficult, no? I grew up there as a Muslim, so don't bother to teach me how it REALLY is there. Thanks.
N it happns to be tht most humans r motivatd by these desires to please th senses. But true lovers of God r not interestd in heavenly rewards as they r in doing their acts to please God, evn if it may brng physical discomfort to them. A true martyr who fought only with the intent of carrying out Gods Will wud not b intrstd in such a thing (vrgns), n if he fought for this sake he wudnt b a true martyr. Sad but true, tht ppl need some incentive to b guided to God. God is Kind enough to give it.
agentr777 - I think your question is very reasonable. firstly that narration is labeled as 'weak', due its chain of transmission, i.e it might be false. 2ndly, all descriptions of heaven, whether mentioning its appearance, or provisions ARE directed towards human likes. Whether Paradise's beauty or delicious fruits or pacifying comfort or presence of women - it is basically things humans are capable of 'perceiving'. In short, Gods wants to assure us that heavn is a place where ppl will b happy
who told u bout those 72 virgin rubish.....number one, women on earth are different than the women in paradise, these woman will be accounted like menabecause they are equa to them!
sex is a naturla desire for every human, so God almighty..that will barbeque u and skin u alive on the day of judgement..(inshAllah)....gives it as a reward to men and women, not just men, but women have choice if they want or dnt want a man in paradise, because most of them will have good husbands.
himy47 - *incredulous*. I can't believe you just said that - "God almighty.. that will barbeque u and skin u alive..", seriously! astaghfirullah. No one has an authority to make such a statement, nor is it in God's liking for us to harbour such feelings of hatred against anyone, regardless of belief. Did you ever read/ hear about the Prophet Mohammed uttering words of contempt to anyone like that?
agentr777 - I'll reply to ur comment on anothr post, because of youtube's limitd character count.
@himy47 i agree wit hibzta "God almighty..that will barbeque u and skin u alive on the day of judgement..(inshAllah)" is a terrible thing to say. Allah guides whomsoever he wills. is there any surety you or i will escape hellfire? or that that person u said those words to will not end up being amongst the first to enter paradise? Allah knows best, and may He guide us.
lol, huralain, translate it, 72 pure with beutyful eyes, its funny and sad that in the west we have to specify virgins because the average girl here loses her virginity or purity by middle school
Thirdly, the Bible states that Eve was made out of Adams rib therefore belonging to him. I've read the Quran and the Bible and in my opinion the Quran speaks of women with much more respect than does the Bible. Lastly, I suggest you ask an Islamic scholar if you're angry/confused as opposed to posting insulting comments on youtube:)
God created men and women differently. Just look at American statistics and you will see that men are polygamous in nature whereas women are monagamous. And secondly, clearly Western society treats women as playtoys for men-i need not give examples there just look around you:)
My Ex Wife (a born Muslim) forced my 12yrs old daughter to remove her Hijaab, bcos the coach full of 'Muslim' women were scarfless & going to the seaside beach !
The 'Muslim' women taunted my 12yrs old daughter to stop wearing the Hijaab as they felt 'ashamed' !
Both mother & daughter now don't wear Hijaab at all !
Hijaabi ladies look so modest !
But the ladies who over do the make up contradict their Hijaab !
I think modesty can take many form one does not need to be subservant in their attire to proove anything to their surroundings. That is my problem with religion and its restrictive mode on women. It's all made up by men to jeep women in a specific category.
religion is not made by men to jeep women in a specific category. tight jeens, short skirts and makeup products are made by men to jeep women and make u live accordding to their standards..u like that don't u? but u don't like to live according to GOD standards
"u like that don't u?" What a rude assumption. How condescending and reminiscent of the attitude people are perceiving and having a problem with in the Islamic culture. I am a woman in the west and would never wear a short skirt or tight clothes. I don't waste time on makeup. That is my choice, and I am comfortable this way. I think everyone has a right to choose for their own body. What bothers me is when choice is taken out of the person's hands. Let God judge a decision, not a man (or men).
scifichicx, i'm sorry if one of my muslim brothers or sisters insulted u!! some peope find it hard to deal with people who don't agree with them!!!
u r making a very good point here, but in islam we are about all individual working for the good of our community, and islam is about making us better people, woman should refuse to allow any man to even look at her in a bad way! but at the same time islamic goverments shouldn't send their men around the street to punish any woman not wearing hijab!
so it's not physically forced, it's just ur own faith and certainty that god wants u to dress that way!
but at the same time we don't believe that men go crazy if a part of our hands or hair is shown! those men are raised in a way that turned them vulgar, i know many men that live an islamic life but they feel comfortable around women
and last point is that when a woman dresses in a non-modest way she encourages that behavior among her muslim sisters, that's why it's not a personal choice!
This is SUPERB...it is AWESOME...it is MASHAÁLLAH MAGNIFIQUE...MERCI BIENS...thank you soo much....Alhamdulillah Wa Shookran! Please...can you tell me what is playing at 1:42 PLEASE! WOW, that makes me so proud that today...will be the 3rd day wearing Hijab...and OUT SIDE TOO! WOWOWOWO LOL....Jazakallahu khayrn...and the song ...PLEASSEEEEEE
I thank you so much for making this video, i'm a muslim woman, it's so hard to explain to people that not only muslims have worn the veil throughout history!!! and they think we are oppressed! LOL. hopefully more people will be englightened and realize the truth, that women are powerful no matter what they wear on their head or what religion they follow
I dislike it when people view the Islamic hijab as "oppression", but they have reverence for the Holy Mother of Jesus' modesty. People need more education on modesty.
i don't like the idea that some muslims, not all, that a woman who doesn't wear hijab are sluts. i am a christian, and while i don't wear hijab, i don't dress like a slut either. and i am not loose or easy. right now i am wearing work out pants and a long t-shirt. earlier i went out, and wore khaki pants and a navy t-shirt. nothing tight or revealing. first of all, my husband would pitch a fit, and second i would be uncomfortable as all get out. some stuff, is just private.
modesty is a good thing. but it is't up to some man to tell me what i have to wear. i can discern for myself what is right and what is wrong. that is what bugs me about veiling, sometimes women don't choose it, it is chosen for them. i have enough respect for myself, to conduct myself properly.
Im jewish and we also are supposed to dress modestly. i like the islamic style of dressing and incorporate it into my style. I noticed that since i started to dress modestly I have made more friends, from islam and other religions.I feel and walk like a princess and men respect me more. I think this video is beautifull and i would encourage all women to cover themselves, if not for G-d then for their own sense of self respect and worth
Chalyah12: I agree that the modest style of dress exemplified by Muslim women is a very rationale idea, as we [Jews] are originally from the Middle East, and for those of us still living in the galut, to Israel we must return, (BS"D).
Last, as a man I also find this style of female dress to not only be very modest, but very attractive as well. I know that does not seem possible, but it is true for me. Your term "princess like" is quite appropriate.
wonderful video,so wel done. May allah bless you for this great video and 2 show the people what Modesty is in all different cultures- Not Just ISLAM.
thats right all religions had the same idea (Modesty) but people no longer care about it which drive them to those thought about Modesty was designed for Arabs or Muslims Only
I'm with u fatima130784 i have been experincing not wearing the hijab but after my hijab it was a blessing and i'm so proud to be a modest muslim woman. This video is lovely, only those who argue about the Hijab r actually targeting islam and muslims and not the Hijab, because they know for a fact specially the men that this isn't the case. But it's a tool should they wish to be used against islam. But they should know the more they attack us the more we grow stronger and stronger.
i am a muslim convert and i am thankful everyday Allah should me the light.its really opened my eyes.how important it is to be modest.i see how men stare with there dirty eyes at woman and they dont even know it. May Allah bless all
To be modest , means to be liberated . However , some us tend to practise a water down version of modesty . Sister of all kind and creed do not dress and still be naked at the same time . I am a muslim woman and I love that feeling of being liberated and to be seen more as more than a piece of meat . ALHAMDULILLAH FOR HIJAB and NIQQAB .
i really lyk dis viDeo..i'm muslim n i dnt wear the hijab or cover my head, n i do feel bad sumtymes....but i hav soo much respect 4 all da muslim women out there who r strong enuff 2 wear the hijab! mashallah! Xx

I do not agree with the opinion that modesty comes in different styles or watever..wearing hyjib means u cover ur neck, chest, ears, and hair. Not wear it loosly or so tight it shows the shape of ur chest.

It is sad to read this comment from a Muslim woman who wears the Hijab, I see no inner beauty from under your wrap. You spew ill-feelings and hate. In Christianity we are taught to pray for those who have fallen from the Grace of God. In every race and religion there are people who fall from Grace.
benitab29 2 years ago
hello.....islam does not teach to hate other religions or people...and anyone that does so...is ignorant...islam is not just a message...it teaches to respect and be patient even in the face of problems....we are also taught to pray for those who have fallen from "grace" or from the true path...and if all muslims learn to actually follow the true islam...the world would understand muslims better...but dont reply to ignorance with poison i'm sure ur faith teaches u patience too

Rather, a woman is assessed for her mind, and not just superficial physical traits.
munayarey 2 years ago 5
that was put beautyfulli, im going to copy and paste that 4 future use.. is that kul?
nabillionaires 2 years ago

I had a friend to tell me this.
benitab29 2 years ago
seems as if people will beat this point until humanity ends....historically speaking in the times of war...lots of women lost their husbands fathers brothers...and no one (male) was there to look after them...therefore to protect them from being taken hostage by other tribes..it was asked that they marry more women...also...if one marries a woman with no valid reason (example : a woman cant conceive).it isnt religious the first wife must consent to the marriage if not it is not religiously valid
livluvlaf89 2 years ago 2
competition...ha..you women compete for the love of 12, 13, 14, 15 year old..it is ok for older men to marry them they are women..and the competition is cut down..ha!!

what good did it bring to you to judge ALL muslim women on the comment of one person ?...have the thirst to seek knowledge..be it islam or christianity...and if you do...you would understand that comments may hurt people...and that goes against ALL religions and morals....do not be ignorant...and do not judge....leave that to god

Thank you for your reply
Jalanski28, and your concern on my behalf. I do consider myself a modest person, and I am not advocating vanity at all. All I meant to say is that material things are exactly that. Material things. As long as we don't give in to excess and become attached to worthless items and forget what is important, then I don't think it's a problem. I think it depends on your frame of mind. And in the end, our true intentions will be judged by Allah, no?
Saphrilia 2 years ago
Right Muslim men are also required to dress modestly, not only women. this means that they should not have tattoos in their bodies or wear shorts in public or undress their upper body as to arouse sexual desire as what westerners do because it is inapropriate and indecent. it doesn't seems appropriate for a normal human being who have shame and dignity.
Jalanski28 2 years ago
I see nothing wrong with wanting to wear nice things. Maybe she likes gucci sunglasses. Should she wear uglier ones? I don't think it defeats the purpose of the hijab.
Saphrilia 2 years ago
you sound not modest, young lady.
Jalanski28 2 years ago
Hi, I see Muslim women all the time wearing the Hijab with things like designer sunglasses. Isn't the Hijab supposed to be there to cover modesty and vanity?
Isn't your natural hair a lesser sign and symbol of vanity than displays of status symbols and luxury like Gucci logos? Doesn't this defeat the purpose? I don't get it..
Azurju 2 years ago

OR you could a life :)

Many women cover their head in all faiths to show modesty, can agree, but do you see how much make up some wear on the face, so men still don't find this attractive no?
7921951 2 years ago
Actually hindus, sikhs and christians arent required to dress modestly..they cover there head while they are in church to show respect. in islam however you have to cover everything all the time..your not allowed to show anything..and showing a bunch of pictures of nuns from hundreds of years ago doesnt prove anything. but at the end of the day ppl should do what they what want nobody is better then anyone.
and if your wondering Im sikh!
vina213 2 years ago
Symbolism is a powerful force that moves many, Sikhs included. Your faith dictates that you are to showcase your humility via a bangle called (kara/kada). Likewise there are special head adornments not all the different from hijab that define certain members that believe as you do. With that said this video doesnt undermine anyones devotion to dress as they please it merely highlights the fact that for centuries some people have chose to be modest.
mannaz2525 2 years ago
Actually we wear a kara as a symbol to not do evil things. Every relgion has their own symbols and reason for doing what they do. Muslim women cover their heads becase they want to be modest. Sikh women as well as hindus and christains arent taught to dress modest..we cover our heads in church to show respect...covering your whole body is a bit extreme to me . this video is saying every relgion teaches you to dress modestly and thats not the truth.
vina213 2 years ago
Where does this video say EVERY religion teaches you to dress modestly? I missed that part. What I gathered is at some point religions women have dressed modestly.
This most likely has nothing to do with women covering up and more to do with your dislike of Islamic principles.
Actually you ware the kara because were commanded by Guru Gobind Singh at the Baisakhi Amrit Sanchar in 1699. And yes it is a symbol of humility something you havent learned
Go pick on the nude Jains lol!!!
mannaz2525 2 years ago 2
correction! Islam has been around since Adam was created, it was just finalized when prophet muhammad (SAW) came along, all Islam means is submittion to the will of god and clearly all the prophets did that.
RionaOops108 2 years ago 25
Why the number of converts? A million reasons. Let's start with today's news. Lutheran "church" now say's active gays can be Lutheran ministers. Christianity in America stands for nothing any longer-everything is acceptable! Abortion, gays, lesbians, illegal aliens...anything goes in America now, and subsequently, anything and everything subsequently GOES DOWN in her (America).

Although throughout history women dressed modestly, if you do your research you will find that the cultures were governed by men. It wasn't until the last century that women rose up and asserted their individuality a claimed their FREEDOM of choice. I cannot agree with ANY religion that forces subjugation on anyone. As far as I can see the Islam culture is one of the most demeaning and violent ones I have seen in modern times.
daanomad 2 years ago
Oh yes and all our husbands are Arab and they beat us and we have no rights or education, blah, blah, blah. Do you personally KNOW any Western muslim women? And how dare you talk about freedom of choice? As a Muslim convert in the U.S. , I CHOOSE to wear hijab even though it is not common in my community. Why? B/c I want to look like what i am- a respectable, sincere woman who has no interest in unwanted attention.
TigerheartA 2 years ago 37
I know Christian,Jewish and Hindu women who cover for the same reason as well. To remind them of their duty to God and themselves and to no one else. People get upset b/c they cant see my hair or chest. What business is it of theirs?! Do you need to see my boobs to have a conversation with me? It doesnt bother them when I'm wearing a t-shirt and bandana but God forbid I don the hijab- b/c thats just SO OPPRESSIVE. *gasp!*
TigerheartA 2 years ago 5
In the Twenties, women removed their corsets and bobbed their hair to show their new lifestyle and a break from traditional values of the time. Today, we don't have traditional values- we just let EVERYTHING hang out. Is it really such a surprise that we would have a problem with this? We're tired of not being able to tell our daughters from a hooker when they go out at night! We want better for ourselves and our children and if that so oppressive then it is a sorry state our world has come to.
TigerheartA 2 years ago 5
Violent? the media, of course tells you that. and also, if foreign ppl came to your country and your life, family, and religion were in danger, would you not be a man and go fight them? And women are not governed by men the way u think. Allah created men and women equal, but not the "same". So he has ordered men to be a certain way and women to be a certain way. Following his command, the world will not have the problems it has nowadays.
Huriya 2 years ago 2
& BTW, you say that it wasnt til the last century that women "rose up & asserted their individuality & claimed their freedom"? Hello, they are nothing but mere sex objects nowadays, only fooled into thinkin this is freedom. they are slaves, they r just blinded. Muslim women had mor rights than any other religion/culture! Wen Islam came, women had right to land, their opinions mattered, and they have high status in Islam. Ask me, Im a Muslim Woman that covers and I was born & raised in America

Masha'allah Great video. I hope this gives people more of an understanding to why us Muslim women cover our beauty.. Really though I dont understand why that is so hard to understand..
aabuba01 3 years ago 4

Hibzta 3 years ago
agentr777 - I think your question is very reasonable. firstly that narration is labeled as 'weak', due its chain of transmission, i.e it might be false. 2ndly, all descriptions of heaven, whether mentioning its appearance, or provisions ARE directed towards human likes. Whether Paradise's beauty or delicious fruits or pacifying comfort or presence of women - it is basically things humans are capable of 'perceiving'. In short, Gods wants to assure us that heavn is a place where ppl will b happy

who told u bout those 72 virgin rubish.....number one, women on earth are different than the women in paradise, these woman will be accounted like menabecause they are equa to them!
sex is a naturla desire for every human, so God almighty..that will barbeque u and skin u alive on the day of judgement..(inshAllah)....gives it as a reward to men and women, not just men, but women have choice if they want or dnt want a man in paradise, because most of them will have good husbands.
himy47 3 years ago
himy47 - *incredulous*.
Hibzta 3 years ago
@himy47 i agree wit hibzta "God almighty..that will barbeque u and skin u alive on the day of judgement..(inshAllah)" is a terrible thing to say. Allah guides whomsoever he wills. is there any surety you or i will escape hellfire? or that that person u said those words to will not end up being amongst the first to enter paradise? Allah knows best, and may He guide us.

Thirdly, the Bible states that Eve was made out of Adams rib therefore belonging to him. I've read the Quran and the Bible and in my opinion the Quran speaks of women with much more respect than does the Bible. Lastly, I suggest you ask an Islamic scholar if you're angry/confused as opposed to posting insulting comments on youtube:)
malikaaa5 3 years ago

They give out mixed signals !
shuja6666 3 years ago
I think modesty can take many form one does not need to be subservant in their attire to proove anything to their surroundings. That is my problem with religion and its restrictive mode on women. It's all made up by men to jeep women in a specific category.
nelissah 3 years ago
religion is not made by men to jeep women in a specific category. tight jeens, short skirts and makeup products are made by men to jeep women and make u live accordding to their standards..u like that don't u? but u don't like to live according to GOD standards
amado100100 3 years ago 2
"u like that don't u?" What a rude assumption. How condescending and reminiscent of the attitude people are perceiving and having a problem with in the Islamic culture. I am a woman in the west and would never wear a short skirt or tight clothes. I don't waste time on makeup. That is my choice, and I am comfortable this way. I think everyone has a right to choose for their own body. What bothers me is when choice is taken out of the person's hands. Let God judge a decision, not a man (or men).

U know, even if i am a muslim girl...i have to agree.
sisterhood4islam 2 years ago
scifichicx, i'm sorry if one of my muslim brothers or sisters insulted u!! some peope find it hard to deal with people who don't agree with them!!!
u r making a very good point here, but in islam we are about all individual working for the good of our community, and islam is about making us better people, woman should refuse to allow any man to even look at her in a bad way! but at the same time islamic goverments shouldn't send their men around the street to punish any woman not wearing hijab!
90rania 2 years ago
so it's not physically forced, it's just ur own faith and certainty that god wants u to dress that way!
but at the same time we don't believe that men go crazy if a part of our hands or hair is shown! those men are raised in a way that turned them vulgar, i know many men that live an islamic life but they feel comfortable around women
and last point is that when a woman dresses in a non-modest way she encourages that behavior among her muslim sisters, that's why it's not a personal choice!
