  • Great videos! A dive in to even more militaria that is hard to find, with great details. I wish I knew more about them, but they are highly collectible and aren't cheap. Congrats on your acquisitions, they really are interesting pieces, and very historically relevant to your awesome collection of everything!

  • OUT STANDING! Thank you.

  • Really interesting stuff Ted. Looking forward to hearing more about Mussolini. Was surprised to read he never really had the absolute power and authority that Hitler had.

  • Good vid Ted. What are the tatoos on inside of your left arm? NZ army blood group / service number?

  • @rylan76 No, it's my wife'sBirthday and my Wedding Anniversary - I kept forgetting both. It was less paindful to get the tattoo!

  • @nzww2buff spoken like a veteran of years of marriage...

  • I never understood why the Germans insisted on giving everyone and thier mother a dagger.

It does not seem like a great use of resources. I know there is some status symbol involved, but a full sized dagger seems expecive to make during bad times, and taking a decent amount of material and time.

  • I think the SA and SS daggers where actually inspired by a classical swiss kind of knife.

  • sheep shaggers[n shore]

  • @HebusxJebus Only the pretty ones.

  • @nzww2buff Good retort.Hey man , I am half austrian half english, quarter sheep, but seriously my mum was in the german airforce and one of her rellies gave her a dagger which now I have.It has a gold[?brass] coloured metal sheath , handle of the same metal and maybe a hard steel blade.Sheath and handle look moulded with ? roman type symbols on it.About 7 inches long ? ceremonial.Story goes a nazi stole it off someone and a rellie stole it back.Any ideas of what the hell it is ?

  • @HebusxJebus Not without a picture, mate. A Glider Pilot's dagger, maybe?

  • "Blut und Ehre" means "blood and honour" - not blood and soil.

    Nice video! Total eyecandy!

  • whats the chain for? did they hang them off there person?

  • @morepassionfoo Yep, just like one would do with a sword.

  • gosh they are beautiful blades

  • Ted what great eye candy for sure. thanks for sharing

  • fascinating!

  • "point to the madness" - haha i'll admit it, I laughed at that pun.

  • Could listen to your vids all day :)

  • beautiful collection, but it could be WAY bigger!

  • @Jakeanator12 That's what I keep telling my wife....and she says the same thing right back at me...:(

  • @nzww2buff lmao

  • Very cool, can't wait to see the others when you get them !

  • Brilliant video, very informative, keep them coming.

  • Thanks for sharing Ted most interesting.

  • quote "guido the killer pimp's knife"

interesting stuff ted, cant wait to see some more detailed stuff

  • Blut und ehre = blood and honour, alles für deutschland, can either be everyting, or everyone for germany

  • Do you have one of those mythic SS rings in your collection?

  • @heintron Yes, but I can't swear to it's authenticity.

  • @nzww2buff Awesome. You should do a video about it and that story about the Germans sealing the last rings in a cave and blowing it up. Makes for a good story!

  • @heintron which one would that be?

  • @tonymarie1984 The ring with a totenkopf up front and runes and oakleafs around with Heinrich Himlers signature inside.

  • @heintron No, it's a standard SS dress ring. And probably a fake...but you never know...it's almost impossible to tell.

  • Really nice looking collection, lucky you managed to pick them up off an unloading collector. Enjoying the vids immensely, thanks for putting your time into them!

  • I think the Third Reich would have been much better off not issuing these and putting the money into other things, seems like they spent probably millions of RM's and Tons of steel on all this aesthetic stuff when there was a war on.

  • Ted: The SS dagger is modeled after a Swiss dagger from the 15th and 16th century called a "Baselard."

  • First class content as usual, thank you!

  • Hey Ted, So glad that this channel was able to prevent losing you and your collection from our access. And this was very interesting. Keep it coming, I know with you and Jim together, this channel will always be top notch. I remain ecstatic how this turned out.

    Ron
