Das Boot po hiszpańsku to zbrodnia! Nawet w Polsce ogląda się wersję orginalną, tylko po niemiecku! Tego nie można oglądac w żadnym innym języku poza orginalnym!
I fucking hate this dubbing bullshit, i don't understand a word in German and yet i watched this movie just with English subtitles because in my opinion dubbings ruin the whole experience.
I think it was a huge gamble. Chief was hoping they would remain bouyant or stop sinking, something to do with hydrodynamics. It wasnt a good option but they had no choice, Hitler and his subordinates routinely made stupid and suicidal decisions.
I wonder why the Commandant spends all this time keeping the Uboat on the surface and staying exposed to attacks from 0:48 to 2:20, while he could have dived right away to avoid most of the damage...
I think the plan was to get as close as they can to Gibraltar gate to observe routes of enemy ships so they could pick up a best route to go while underwater. The problem was they were spotted by a plane that throw bomb that seriously damaged water tanks and sent sub to the ocean floor.
Don't forget that these subs have limited time they can spend under the water.
@MeskovicZ : Thanks for the comment. However, to me, that still doesn't explain why, after having been hit by a plane, the commandant *stays on surface for the whole time between 0:48 to 2:20* to take MORE damage instead of diving!
On the surface diesel engines could probably give double or more the speed than the electric motors, which were the the only propulsion available when submerged, (prior to the later fitment of the snorkel). To travel slowly submerged confined in the straights of Gibraltar when aircraft, destroyers and shore batteries knew your rough position would be complete suicide, better to go for broke and make for open sea
@apocalypsesioux : AHA! I understand now. I think what you say explains why. These were indeed "submerged boats", unlike nowadays's submarines. So when submerged, only electric engines (slow, quiet), and diesel engines would only be used on the surface (fast, loud). Since they were trying to get away ASAP here it makes sense to stay on the surface even though it's more dangerous.
I guess they were trying to reach shallow waters ASAP to evade ships behind them... thanks!
Additional problems for submarines passing through the straits submerged would be mines and antisubmarine nets. Unpredictable salinity gradients and strong currents in the straits would punish any mistakes by a u-boat captain by unexpectedly pushing the sub to the bottom or the surface anyway............
@Zcylen que pasa otro guiri hijo de puta que anda criticando el idioma, vete a tomar por culo anormal, si no te gusta, cierra la pestaña y mira otro video pero ami idioma no lo critiques so cabron ingles de mierda.
Please some respect for other languages. Of course I also think it should be in German with subtitles. But it is not worse then in English! Dubbing is a way to attract more poeple and not bad in general. By the way I think it is Italian. "Avanti, avanti", but I am not sure. Both Spanish and Italian are nice languages. Greetings from Germany.

English language rules, as Hitler lost. Fact. Kreigsmarine were fucking good men, but defeated. BRITISH SEA POWER. The best. No argument. History.

@MeskovicZ I remember the plan being stay on the surface at top speed as long as possible
step2 dive
step3 kill the engines so you wont make noise
step4 coast
but I cant remember clearly
