Deferment or not, the fact is Gingrich never served. Neither by draft, nor by enlistment. So Dr. Paul's confrontation remains valid: How dare ANY politician send soldiers off to war who never served a day in their life!! When you have risked your neck for your country, then and ONLY then do you have the right to ask others to do the same.
Gingrich got deferments because he was in college. In the Vietnam War you wouldn't get drafted if you were going to college and getting good grades. Gingrich also was way in the back of the draft line because he had a daughter. So yes he could have been drafted but he was going to school.
You can see the sheer anger in Ron Paul's face after saying he had two kids and STILL went. It screams "HOW DARE YOU!!!! Who the FUCK do you think you are???" Ron Paul's the man.

Whether or not he was eligible is not the point. The man is willing to send others to die in wars he wants to see fought, but when the opportunity arose for him to fight in a war himself, he chose not to serve. That includes not enlisting.
He has no business to serve as commander-in-chief and send others to fight and die when he himself refused to do the same.

Deferment or not, the fact is Gingrich never served. Neither by draft, nor by enlistment. So Dr. Paul's confrontation remains valid: How dare ANY politician send soldiers off to war who never served a day in their life!! When you have risked your neck for your country, then and ONLY then do you have the right to ask others to do the same.

Gingrich got deferments because he was in college. In the Vietnam War you wouldn't get drafted if you were going to college and getting good grades. Gingrich also was way in the back of the draft line because he had a daughter. So yes he could have been drafted but he was going to school.
