it is funakoshi, and what he parcticed resembled more Shorin Ryu, Shotokan is an evolution in many aspect, but perchaps it has forgotten how to flow between hard and soft.
FARCE: In no way shape or form is this Gichin Funikoshi. Footage is too new and enhanced to look old, besides, this is not the style he taught at all. As a long time student of Tsutomo Ohshima I will verify that. What person would try to create such a farce and for what stupid reason?
Funakoshi Osensi is not only soft, one can tell the intention of most of what he is doing. Modern shotokan is so stiff that people are having a hard time making sense out of the Tekki's
Acerwk is such a fag lol. Do you not know that Funakoshi is the father of modern Karate? He is the master who had a better understanding of form and technique better than many whoever lived.
Very interesting, I am searching for some videos representing the differences between the techniques of "the origin" vs current times. It's a different way of generating power, really interesting.

Thank you! amazing vid.
The most i watch Funakoshi Clips, the most i understand that modern Shotokan is too stiff. Look at Sensei Funakoshi, hes like "soft" and then "hard"

Funakoshi modified the style he learned.
That's NOT the Karate his master Itosu taught him!!!
Like many of Itosu students (eg. Mabuni from Shito Ryu) did, Funakoshi changed Karate to make his style when he traveled to Japan from Okinawa.
However, his master Itosu introduced Karate in school and Funakoshi did it in the University.
For good or not... cannot say what Itosu would have said about it. Once he died, his students splitted and made their own styles.
