  • The interviewer seems to imply that there is a conscious effort on the part of americans to ignore or not appreciate "british" music.....America has had a 25 year love affair with music from the UK and like George said "all things must pass"....the corporate music monsters made sure british bands were the main focus and american bands were secondary...the brits may never be as dominant as they once were but the gems will shine through.

  • Geezus I fucking love Allison Krauss & Union Station. I grew up listening to them....I can remember being maybe 4 or 5 and hearing those songs from the 1995 best of compilation album all the time in my living room...she is insanely talented, they are insanely talented. But everyone needs to stop arguing about American vs. British groups...both countries have made fantastic music and have great musicians. End of discussion.

  • Love Alison !

  • 36 Grammys Wow!! I didn't know that-I knew she was dedicated-My hat's off to Alison!!!!!

  • Allison didn't win the fiddler's competition for the state of tennessee-an old timer said she didn't bow her fiddle correctly-but she is a heck of a fiddle player & has a good voice too-So that just goes to show, even if you don't win-you can still have promise in the music industry in nashville!! Thanks for posting this!

  • That female interviewer is stunning. Who the hell is she? I search for an interview of Alison Krauss then can't take my eyes off the interviewer.

  • @wordbeeps That's Sussanah Reid at BBC Breakfast News.

  • @wordbeeps

Yeah, but she's got an English accent, which ruins it..

  • @seguiriya1 which accent turns you on then -the sultry squealing of a pig i guess. oink oink

  • The silly Robbie Williams question aside, I thought this was a pretty good interview - a bit more in depth on what kind of person Alison is. She has always struck me as a thoroughly decent, wonderful person. She is also a goof, as evidenced by her between-song chatter at concerts. : )

  • The dude in this interview is an idiot. It's pretty obvious that Alison doesn't know who he's talking about when he mentioned Robbie Williams. (I didn't know who it was either...an unremarkable 1990's British boyband member goes solo...hardly noteworthy) I don't know what he wanted Alison to say. Was she supposed to apologize that 'new' British music doesn't get any attention in USA? HEY RETARD, ever heard of Mumford&Sons? It's a good thing talk shows don't care about or intelligence.

  • Bluegrass is probably the only non-bastardized and least processed American music.

  • Blues had a baby. They named it Rock and Roll.

Celtic had a baby. They named it Bluegrass. (yes, I know there are many other influences)

I can't imagine that Alison is the slightest bit interested in who's making it big in America or the UK. She just wants to make music. E'en though she's done some really goofy stuff like that bit with Robert.

  • They mention Robbie Williams whilst talking to Alison.why would she have a clue about him?She is a genuine act,a good singer with a hell of a band.Union Station and Robbie are poles apart.

  • I think Krauss and Union Station produce a great sound. Nearest the UK has to it are folk bands like Show of Hands which can be quite zappy. Never should be a UK versus USA in music. Both have produced great singers and musicians.

  • @Susseditout The Transatlantic Sessions are great. I agree that a competition is stupid; These sessions are wonderful, tho. Cudos to BBC Scotland for doing it right.

  • Maybe the reason that British artists can,t make it in the States, could be that they are not good enough. The x factor style of singers, is not the way to learn your trade.

  • @tonywilk57 I can agree with that, even though I'm British myself.

  • @tonywilk57

Yeah, the Beatles and the Stones, Zepplin, Pink Floyd, Clapton, etc etc couldnt make it either.. lol.

Dont mix up xfactor and pop idol (i think thats what the american version is called) with real music.

  • What a stupid piece of induction to suggest that British artist Robbie Williams can't make it in the US, therefore all British artists can't make it - breathtaking ignorance.

Haven't they heard of all the UK artists recently that are huge and/or have great respect including Adele, Leona, Duffy Jessie, even SuBo etc.

Here's a deduction - TakeThat are huge in the UK therefore Williams has a good chance of being big. Take That aren't huge in the US, therefore he doesn't have a good chance.

  • Alison gracefully dodges anything personal. Makes you wonder that much more about her...

  • @TwoHighways I bet a lot of fans don't even know she was married and/or that she has a son named Sam, born in 1999...

  • Bluegrass melancholy where they been it has some of the most lively foot tapping songs around Foggy Mountain Breakdown, Duelling Banjos, Rockytop etc hardly melancholy.!!

  • It's great to see Alison out again. I do hope her new release breaks some new ground. I like the atmosphere of the preview...

  • Love the vacuous airhead nature of the presenters. Robbie Williams? Presenters asking questions about why isn't British music more popular in the USA in an interview with a bluegrass singer-why? Do they actually know what they're talking about? there are many popular American singers who don't sell much in Britain so what what has this got to do with her music? And some artists sell a lot in both countries and the problem is?

  • the mention of robby williams hahaha i didn’t remember that guy didn’t think he was even worth mentioning hahaha

  • nice interview :) wish they'd release the video already! thanks for posting this one
